Frequently Asked Questions
The Neoven fully complies with TSA's requirements and is safe to be taken on board an aircraft. However, TSA can only certificate products that are already on the market, and right now, we only have our prototypes. As soon as the mass production is complete, we'll see what we can do.Last updated:
Right now we're using USB-C.
However, there's a chance that we'll use something else in the final version. While USB-C offers its benefits and convenience, it also presents us with certain limitations, and might not be the best option for charging stability and speed, given that we're using three relatively high-capacity batteries.
This technology provides a limited transmitter power level, which may be insufficient to use if your Neoven's batteries are out, for example. This isn't a problem for MacBook and other laptops, because their batteries have substantially lower capacity, and their hardware needs less power in general.
We are still conducting tests to make sure that doesn't happen, and if we can, we'll keep the USB-C. But please understand that there is a slight chance that we may have to opt for a different interface, for reasons not exactly in our control.Last updated:
We've foreseen this use scenario, and the Heating and Container (Module) zones are thermally sealed, so you can heat up food without affecting what's frozen in the storage.Last updated:
This isn't possible because both zones are designed to provide their separate purposes. Unfortunately, it's not technologically feasible to make them universal. But perhaps we'll see what we can do in the future!Last updated:
The Heater should last for up to three days on average if you warm up food twice a day.
The Extra Modules have their own power capacities:
1. Fridge is the most power-consuming modules - it will work for up to 4 hours from full charge. If you need it to work longer than that, you can plug in the power cable, and it’ll use external power. We believe this to be enough for most use cases. For example, you can take some ice cream with you to work, and have it for dinner.
2. Mixer will make 12 glasses of juice (smoothies) from full charge.
3. Kettle boils water five times (each glass 0.33L / 11 oz) from full battery charge.
So if you warm up food with Neoven and use Kettle and Mixer modules on top of that, you’ll have to charge the device once per three days. If you use the Fridge module as well, it’ll need to be charged daily.
At any rate, should you run out of batteries, you can plug in the power cord and keep using the device.Last updated:
At Neoven, we understand the importance of repairability.
After the mass production is complete, and the product is on the market, we'll make sure to provide a way to purchase spare parts, regardless of your region or country of residence.
Our warranty is 12 months, and the only components that will eventually need to be replaced are the batteries. In worst-case scenario, they might lose up to 30-40% of their capacity in 3 years.
Though this is really a worst-case scenario, it depends on how you use it - just like with any other rechargeable battery-powered electronic device like mobile phones and laptops.Last updated:
Yes, they are. It's very important for any kind of food containers to be properly sealed, especially when used with an electronic device like Neoven. You can carry Neoven in your bag without a problem.Last updated:
Right now the Neoven comes with a pouch that will hold the Neoven itself, and the module that's inside it. However, this is a good suggestion, so we'll see what we can do. An optional larger bag with extra pockets for all modules is something we might be able to do in the future.Last updated:
Yes, after the campaign is over, we'll send you a survey where you'll be able to submit your shipping address and other information.
It'll also allow you to add individual Neoven devices, and any of its extra modules.Last updated:
We have a handy breakdown of each component's weight and dimensions at the main Campaign page. You can have a look at this link:
The Neoven is an electronic device, so the device and the extra modules cannot be used with a fridge, dishwasher or microwave oven.
The Neoven's food containers are not dishwasher safe, and we can't guarantee compatibility with microwave ovens either. However, you can store them in a fridge safely, provided that you take them out of your Neoven device first.
The modules and containers have a glossy surface, so they're pretty easy to hand wash. The modules might require dishwashing brushes for the hard to reach spots.Last updated:
The Mobile App isn't required, but it allows you to start Neoven remotely. The device can be controlled by using physical buttons on its case.Last updated:
