Enjoying a scenic view, catching up with friends, relaxing in the sun, then getting brutally slaughtered one-by-one TOTALLY SUCKS.
What was that trailer? Is the movie already finished?
NO. We shot the above teaser as a way to get everyone excited about the film. It's a proof of concept that shows off characters and situations from the film. If you think you saw someone die in the trailer, don't worry: You will be unprepared for Rendezvous with Death.
While we're quite happy with the teaser, the feature film itself will be shot on RED, and will be more substantial in every way.
What is Rendezvous with Death?
A slasher film with brains - both literally and figuratively. This is a movie where the main characters are blessed with common sense. It's also a movie where common sense won't be enough to save anyone. Some of the characters will be downright geniuses. They probably will die horribly. You can close your eyes during the killing parts. They're going to be pretty epic.
It will be dark, meditative, funny, and it will have a killer 80's score.
Imagine if Drive hooked up with Re-Animator and birthed a baby out at Camp Crystal Lake. On its first night in this world, that baby killed its parents. Rendezvous with Death is that beautiful baby, and now it's all grown up.
We most recently were part of another well-supported Kickstarter film, The Slender Man, which is almost done with production and is looking great. We have experience with the feature-film format, and we're ready to blow minds. Right out of their skulls.
To do that, we need your help.
What will your money go towards?
We want to do this thing right, and that means we need money for blood, gore, and prosthetics. We'll also need to pay people to construct elaborate death scenes. This isn't going to be one of those movies where you hear a BANG, someone clutches their chest, and supposedly dies. You'll know when someone's dead in Rendezvous with Death. We don't want you to have to suspend your disbelief too much. Your disbelief is fine right where it is.
Each kill has its own budget in this film. We'll also be paying our professional actors, as well as skilled crew people to operate our equipment.
Every penny will go towards making this film as visually striking and professional as possible. There is no salary for those two goofballs from the introductory video.
In the coming weeks, there will be new, short teasers, as well as behind the scenes content, update videos, and other information.
So, make sure you Like our Facebook page to stay up to date on Rendezvous with Death!
And THANK YOU!
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Scheduling and coordinating a large cast and crew within a small window of production time can certainly prove to be a challenge, and when making a film of any type, unexpected setbacks and issues are an inevitability, but luckily we are well equipped to deal with them.
We will be shooting the film early next year, leaving plenty of time for reshoots/rescheduling if need be. Also, all of our acting talent will be locally based, so travel time to and from set will be minimal, making things easier on everyone involved.
In addition to that, the main actor for the film is also the producer, who I work with nearly every day, which means both his dedication and commitment to the film is at 100%.
Granted, even with all these things in place, other setbacks could appear.
As much as we want everything to work out as smoothly as possible, if we try and make a film with NO risks at all, we'll end up with a boring film. We aim to push the edge, experiment, and try new things to create the best content possible. That is why we will be giving all of our backers constant updates and videos to show off the progress as it happens.
This way, no matter what happens, you will never feel left in the dark. When we hit a major accomplishment, you'll know, and the same goes for any sort of delays we might have. Everyone who backs the film will be kept up to date as we finish pre-production, shoot the film, and even during the post production. I have always been a huge fan of these types of videos and updates, and with a project like this, I feel that they are even more helpful and entertaining.
