An interactive art book feat. about 100 Berlin-based artists presenting urban art, painting, illustration, collages and photography.

THE IDEA

During the course of some 100 exhibitions held in the Neonchocolate Gallery in the last two years, we have always held a desire to present Berlin’s wide spectrum of young art and its burgeoning art scene to an audience outside the capital. Now, with the project “Berlin What?”, we aim to showcase Berlin-based artists internationally via exhibitions, extraordinary art events and, as our first step, an interactive artbook of the same name that we are publishing on ourselves.

THE BOOK

It's a high quality, large scale (24 x 30 cm), hardcover book with a selection of some 500 images on about 250 pages. Using QR-Codes you will find background information about artists, interviews and chapters from the award-winning art-documentary “In The Belly Of A Whale” – which makes the book an interactive experience. Every single artist featured in this book is born in Berlin, lives and works in Berlin or had a period of his works in Berlin. This book provides you insight into our beloved art-scene. “Berlin What?” is the first book ever to figure such a wide range of young Berlin artists, and we hope you'll enjoy all the blood, sweat and tears the people involved in this project put into their work.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter

We minimized all the risks and solved most of the challenges related to the project before we launched the project on Kickstarter.
We also made sure to get permission to publish all the artworks presented in the book "Berlin What?". Furthermore we collected in advance all the rewards offered, so we can guarantee that all purchased rewards can and will be delivered.

There are only two things connected with our project that may affect our timing. We are relying on quick work by the printer and the involved mail services, but we assume that they will work quickly to make sure the production and distribution of "Berlin What?" goes smoothly.
