I've struggled with my musical identity most of my life. From holding down a career with my music as a hobby...to where I am now: single mom and full-time musician. This year has been a crazy one for me as bandleader and singer for 4 bands. The hard work resulted in 3 San Diego Music Award Nominations and a new demand for my recordings. Most people are shocked that despite nearly 20 years singing blues, jazz and country music professionally, I've never made an album.
Earlier this year I met guitarist and producer/engineer Mike Butler. After a few months of performing live shows together, it became clear to me that he would be the catalyst to finally make this record happen. With his expertise in blues, americana and rock, I knew I had found a producer that I could trust to help me make a modern album while staying true to my roots.
The day after Thanksgiving, myself, Mike, bassist Patrick McClory and drummer Brian Cantrell will hole-up at White Horse Studios in San Diego, where we will spend 3 days recording. The expense of this is completely beyond my means right now, so I am asking my friends and fans to pitch in...and become part of the process that will hopefully help my music reach a broader audience.
Basically, this is a pre-sale of the record! If you pledge $10 or more, you'll be reserving a copy of the record that will be sent out before it is officially released and you'll be playing a vital role in getting the project finished. In the right hand tab there are several pledge options with thank you gifts exclusive to contributors.
Kickstarter works on an all-or-nothing basis, so if a total of at least $3000 is reached before December 11th, all cards will be charged, we will receive the funding, and everyone who has pitched in will be mailed their goods early in the new year. Shipping is included with your pledge.
If we earn more than $3000, those additional dollars will fund all the corners I have cut to make this recording happen on a tight budget.
AND if we don't reach the pledge goal, then your credit card is not charged...so there is no risk involved. I will keep you up-to-date on the progress of this project and recording sessions at my blog nenaanderson.com
To all the musicians and fans and friends that have been there for me through the journey the last 20 years and now, I love you. THANK YOU for your support!
