Rainwater Dances has been invited to perform at Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival as part of the Inside/Out Series on Aug. 4, 2011 at 6:15pm. It is a wonderful opportunity for us to present work at a National Historic Landmark and iconic venue for modern dance. This free performance will allow us to reach new audience members as we perform recent repertoire on a beautiful outdoor stage against a backdrop of the Berkshire hills. We will show four works including: "Spaces We Inhabit", "This Is What I Think of Your Love", "Rounds”, and “The Land of Loneliness, Milk & Honey”. Featuring dancers: Rhea Daniels, Austin Diaz, Stephanie Java-Joshi, Gabriel Malo, Amelia Munro, & Nellie Rainwater
What your $ pays for
Funding from Kickstarter will help provide us with travel expenses from New York City to Massachusetts, fees & accommodation for six dancers, as well as studio rehearsal space rentals. All this adds up to about $1,500, and if we can raise additional funds, it will go towards rehearsal stipends for the dancers, who truly deserve it.
About Rainwater Dances: Founded by Nellie Rainwater in 2010, the company creates work filled with striking images, theatrical tension, and nuanced layers of movement. Choreographer Nellie Rainwater conjures up diverse environments that explore the peculiarity, darkness, and whimsy of everyday life. Recent performances include the first curated performance at CPR-Center for Performance Research, WestFest Dance Festival, Take Root at Green Space, DUMBO DANCE FESTIVAL, and a self-production at BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange.
About where we'll be performing: Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, recent recipient of a prestigious National Medal of Arts from President Barack Obama, is considered one of the world’s premier arts festivals. “Our audiences love to see a wide variety of dance companies and styles and Inside/Out gives them the opportunity to see a multitude of very talented artists, without cost. The companies that perform are carefully chosen for their artistic excellence and are an important part of the Pillow experience.” - Ella Baff, Jacob’s Pillow Executive and Artistic Director
