The specialty coffee movement has grown massively over the last few years, but when I tried to find a coffee brew stand for my Aeropress I found nothing that excited me. That's why I created the Origin brew stand to be the perfect blend of function and aesthetics. It balances poise with structural strength to give you a piece of functional equipment you want to look at all day.
The Origin stand's form was designed and refined by hand and gives me something I want others to experience; a love for all aspects of the coffee making.
Makes Coffee Beautifully
Making coffee is an art form, and the Origin stand reflects that as being a functional piece of art/equipment to add to your coffee making process. If you’re like me, the process is almost as important as the end result, and using a beautiful crafted piece of equipment enhances that enjoyment factor of the process.
Using the Origin stand with Aeropress or pour overs, you have the perfect complement to your coffee making process. It has inherent strength from its flawless aluminum construction to withstand push forces in Aeropress coffee making, and its beautiful poise gives it the deftest of touches in the gentler pour over techniques.
Obsessive Attention to Quality.
The Origin stand’s form was hand carved and perfected through multiple iterations. The prototypes you can see on this page have been cut from a single block of aluminium. If we achieve our goal we will be able to create the machining to produce this from molten aluminium so that we can bring you a high end design at a price point that is affordable. The final form was then replicated with micron level precision in aluminum by a specialist machining company in my home town of Bristol, UK. They will follow the 5000 year old Artisan process of investment casting to produce your Origin stand.
Your stand will then be coated with the electrochemical process of anodizing, which ensures the gorgeous finishes available will never fade or tarnish. Every stage of making your Origin stand is controlled by the highest trained craftsmen and it produces a beautifully made piece of functional art.
Built to Last
The Origin stand is made from aircraft grade aluminum, meaning it will never rust or degrade. Its inherent strength comes from its beautifully crafted shape, which can withstand up to a 50kg push force (much more than needed for Aeropress).
The Origin’s shape gives it strength and poise that make it the perfect functioning piece of art to add to your coffee making process.
The Origin stand is designed with an elegant simplicity in mind. Its sweeping profile provides a perfectly functional yet aesthetically pleasing form, which is understated in its sophistication. It provides your kitchen with both a functional piece of equipment and a sculptural piece of art to enjoy when not being used.

Gorgeous Finishes .
The stand is available in two beautiful finishes. Natural Brushed Aluminium and High Polished Aluminium. Each of the options are applied by a specialist company in Wiltshire and protected using the anodizing process, which impregnates the metal with protective layer via an electrochemical process, meaning your chosen finish won’t wear off in normal usage.
Fits Main Brewing Techniques .
I found the coffee stand products currently available in the market were specific for one brewing technique. That just isn’t practical for someone who is interested brewing coffee in a few different methods. The Origin stand the strength for Aeropress and poise for pour over techniques.
As a professional designer, I have the fortune of doing what I love every day but I work for other people and make their ideas come to life. So when I get home that’s when I can work on my own ideas and solve the problems around me in my everyday life. The process of designing and making is something that I feel I am made to do. I’m a super visual person and so I like the things around me to add to a space aesthetically and not simply exist for a function, something I like to call functional aesthetics.
I love to make coffee at home using my Aeropress, so when I became frustrated with the fact that the Aeropress didn’t fit on all my coffee cups I searched for a brew station to buy. Things didn’t really get any better for me, as I didn’t like the look of any Aeropress stands available, they were all over engineered and unappealing. I did notice that there were some really nice pour over technique stands, which had great poise and presence, but they wouldn’t work with my Aeropress. It was then that I decided to make a coffee brew station that was both beautiful to look at, had poise and worked brilliantly with Aeropress and pour overs alike.
Risks and challenges
Firstly, we will be committed to excellent communication throughout the whole campaign, as we understand the importance of keeping our backers up to date on all developments (no matter how big or small).
Our focus has been to de-risk the campaign and overcome any potential concerns for our backers. These steps have involved; funding all the research and development costs, sourcing manufacturing partners with several rounds of samples and strategically planning the process post campaign. This places us in a position of being confident that we can deliver our pledges if we reach our funding goal as our goal is based on how much we need to raise for the project to be viable.
