A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:

AnyBeam's laser technology is super-efficient and does not generate excessive amounts of heat, like some older projectors. AnyBeam uses lasers instead of traditional LED or conventional bulbs. The lifetime of a laser is up to 10 longer than a traditional bulb. This saves you a huge amount of money over the lifetime of the projector.

With high colour saturation and contrast, your blacks appear blacker with AnyBeam technology. This means a much better cinema quality image. The new "partial projection" technology means that you can project without areas of the image you don't need as well - perfect for projection mapping.
Unlike traditional projectors that constantly need to be focussed, the Nebra AnyBeam picture is always perfect. You can project onto curved or irregular surfaces with ease - perfect if you want to use it on the fly, or if you want to try your hand at a bit of projection mapping!

It’s the ‘barebones’ version - but this kit has the same internal components as the flagship AnyBeam unit (minus the 1 Watt speaker) except for the fact you can take the clear case apart. Neat!

This beast of a projector is powered by the tiny Raspberry Pi Zero W. Inside is the Pi Zero, microSD card, and the Nebra AnyBeam HAT all in an awesome sphere shaped case. It comes with a 2.5A international power supply and cables.
We have spent a considerable amount of time developing and testing the AnyBeam product range in order to get it ready for launch here on Kickstarter. We conducted a limited-release beta test with the early development samples of the main AnyBeam product in order to get feedback and gauge the viability of the product.
This has lead to a number of improvements to bring a market-ready product to Kickstarter, which will feature in the end products:
Lower power laser diodes to bring them within the "Class 1" laser specification required for commercial sale to consumers in Europe and North America - while still retaining a best in class 720p picture!
Reduced power consumption to increase the usable time when running from batteries.
All four of the products in the AnyBeam range have been CE and FCC tested to ensure safety and radio compliance.
Development of 3D and 2D drawings of all parts of the products to enable you to use them more easily in embedded projects and build cases and accessories.
Development of a variety of user guides and other content to support the operation of the AnyBeam range (see below images).
Translation of the user interface (UI) on the menus of all of the four AnyBeam products into a wider range of languages.
If we can hit over 2000 units sold, we can offer different colours of the AnyBeam device.
Investigatory work into further improvements - larger speakers, higher resolution, higher brightness, more compact size - is also ongoing and will likely feature in future products should this Kickstarter be successful.
Please note: AnyBeam is so powerful it’s difficult to film without a reaaaally good camera. The flickering in this film will not happen when you use your AnyBeam in real life and is just a quirk of trying to film a projector on the fly and get it to perfectly sync with the camera!
We wanted to show you just how simple it is to get up and running with AnyBeam projectors. So we made this short set up video to guide you through some common usage scenarios and introduce some of the menu functions.

The electronics design, packaging design and all other aspects of the project are already finalised and tested and working great, so there isn't much risk associated with the design. We already have production quality units in hand and they have been confirmed to be working correctly. We are in the middle of producing our first beta-batch of products with our manufacturer (50 of each type) and have already made the adjustments necessary after testing the initial prototype rounds.
The main risks and challenges are the supply of the projector modules and assembly of the associated electronics as well as the reliability of the shipping networks.
Fortunately the manufacturer we are working with is one we have successfully used many times before and we know and trust they can deliver to schedule. As an established and busy e-commerce business Nebra are easily capable of handling the shipping burden of this project and have all the frameworks in place to achieve this quickly and efficiently. Whilst delays do unfortunately sometimes occur with shipping networks these are relatively infrequent and we will do our best to mitigate these at the time of shipping. We will be using BackerKit to manage shipping planning and if the campaign is wildly successful we will probably use a shipping partner such as Floship to ship the rewards directly from our manufacturer to backers and to leverage their staff and capacity to speed up the shipping.
With current component availability, a 2000 unit batch of boards would take about 8 to 10 weeks to produce. So we have given ourselves 4 months in which to ship. However we sincerely hope we can beat that and ship sooner. We will place the production order immediately when the campaign finishes.
Here at Nebra, we hate the idea of built in obsolescence - so we design our products to be as durable and long lasting as we possibly can. With only one moving part (the MEMS laser projector unit) AnyBeam products do not have a lot to go wrong - and we make sure to thoroughly quality test the products before they leave the factory.
Reusability and recyclability
We care about the environment and so wherever possible we try to use recyclable materials in our products and packaging. We also reuse as much incoming packaging and space-fill material as we can for outgoing shipments and when this is not possible we recycle it responsibly.
Sustainable fulfillment and distribution
We try to make our packaging and shipping packaging as compact as possible, whilst still protecting the beautiful products inside. This reduces the space requirements during transit and consequently reduces the environmental impact and emissions of our shipping.
