03.11.11Hello dedicated supporters, motivators, movers and shakers...
WE DID IT!
With all of your generous help we have made it to our initial Kickstarter goal of $6000.
A gigantic Woooop Woop for that!! As you know though there are still 2 days left of this campaign and we are poised, hovering over the finish line, tongue out and arms in the air.
If you have been waiting to give or would like to add to your already amazing donation...its not too late!
We are going to try to meet a new goal of $7000 before Sunday at noon and we will put that money towards the creation of a professional music video featuring one of the songs off the new record.
And...if/when we reach $7000 all backers will receive a limited edition hand screened print featuring art from the new record as a thank you from NBE!
ps. nothing keeps us going more then seeing you all out at a show near you..PLUS we have tons of new songs to share with YOUR EARS..
See you Sunday for the final installment!!
thank you for clicking your way over here. we appreciate each and every minute you dedicate to us.
in fact, at the moment of this launch, it’s been approximately 3,204,400 minutes (and counting) since the birth of nervous but excited (that’s 6 years and 35 days for all you right brainers out there) and it’s been an amazingly fun and exciting and challenging and snowy journey so far – none of which would have been possible without so many of the amazing folks out there (you!) who are ready and willing to listen to our songs and stories.
we make music because it’s in our hearts and it’s what fills em up. we are lucky to be able to dedicate almost all of our time to putting music and laughter into the world. as we all know, this takes a lot of effort, desire, work and simply put, cold hard cash.
we have launched this kickstarter campaign to help subsidize the costs of creating our third full-length studio album that we plan to release in the summer of 2012.
here’s a short list of some of the costs that go into the making of an album:
the costs we assume:
- studio time! (approx $45/hour for about 80-100 hours for tracking and mixing)
- mastering (approx $500 to make it sparkle when it’s all mixed)
- duplication (approx $1200 per 1,000 copy run)
- art and graphics (lots and lots of invaluable time)
the costs we forget about:
- envelopes and postage to send for review
- gas for studio travel
- funds to compensate musicians for their time and talents
- tea for singing
- honey for tea
- whiskey for toddies
- meals for engineers and musicians
- blank cds
- acoustic guitar strings electric guitar strings banjo strings and mando strings
- ukulele, bass and violin strings
- batteries for instruments
- phone and internet to book and then promote cd release tour
- gas for cd release tour
- new posters for tour
- postage for posters
- printer ink
- cheap hotels for sleeping
- meals for eating
- new blank merch for new album – shirts, bags, hankies, stickers and other
- labor costs to print merch ($1-7 bucks per item)
- dental floss
and there we have the basics. and every bit counts.
if you simply don’t have the dollars to spare, please know that passing this page on to friends is also very valuable, and much appreciated. some facebook love, a re-tweet every now and again or an email blast goes a long way these days.
thank you again for your time and please trek along with us on the journey of making this record. our exciting new video series was made with the generous help of james mcrae. come back every friday for the next installment of our adventure. do not doubt that there will be lots of surprises.
ps. a little behind the scenes info:
james mcrae is the magic maker behind the camera and the editing software. christianna labuz and eric anderson play our extremely talented side kicks. and yes, we did build an igloo. with our hands and a couple shovels.
