There’s nothing worse than a scratched watch glass. Well, apart from a broken one! Which is why we’ve used the best quality sapphire crystal we could find. Second only to diamond in hardness, our crystals are clear and tough, giving you the best view of the dial and hands.
It’s those tiny details that matter, which is why we made the decision that our watches would have not one, but two coatings of anti-glare on our wonderful crystals. One coating on the inside and one on the outside.
The result is a dial that is readable in any light, every minute of the day.
We didn’t want Argo and Eclipse to be daytime watches only. So we use the best lume on the market - Swiss-made Super-LumiNova - to ensure the hands on our watches are visible on the darkest of nights. We use C1 - the whitest Super-LumiNova - and GL-NL3, the blackest.
We love simplicity at Nation of Souls, but sometimes you want something a little bit more.
The sunray pattern on our Argo models adds an extra layer of intrigue to the dial, while the guilloche pattern on the Eclipse is a real statement that subtly shimmers as it catches the light.
Of course, what's going on inside a watch is just as important as the outside, which is why we partnered with market leader Ronda to put their 1 and 7 series movements in our watches. Both movements are gold plated, the Argo’s 7 series has 5 jewels and the Eclipse’s 1 series has 6.
Jewels are used in place of bearings in the movement, not only to look great but to enhance the lifetime of the movement. Jewelled movements last longer and are more accurate than other, cheaper movements.
Changing your watch battery every 6 months is a pain that you should not have to put up with. Our watches take either a Sony 321 or 364, providing each watch with 3 years worth of charge.
Once we decided on stainless steel for our watch cases, the choice of 316L was simple. This is just purely the most corrosion resistant and durable stainless steel out there for watch manufacture.
Your Nation of Souls watch comes with the strap shown in the gallery image for that individual model. However, all of the straps in the range are interchangable with any of the watches, so you can personalise by adding additional straps (Check Add Ons Section). And there is no need for any tools as every strap has a quick change spring bar.
Our leather straps are made with the highest quality full-grain leather.
Full-grain leather is the most durable and strongest leather available, making it a great choice for watch straps. This leather is then vegetable tanned, a natural process that is better for both the leather and you. The strap is then waxed to add to the durability and water-resistance, giving you a watch strap that looks great and lasts.
Our link bracelets use a premium butterfly clasp that significantly reduce the size of the catch. This makes the fit on your wrist much more comfortable than other bulky styles of clasp.
Our sleek, modern and flexible mesh straps are built for durability and comfort and made from 100% 316L grade stainless steel. During the development stage, the mesh material we use for these straps was upgraded to a much tighter weave. This not only gives the straps a smooth silky feel to the touch but also tremendous flexibility which, in turn, makes it very comfortable to wear.
When we started creating our Nation of Souls watches back in 2016, we studied what other watchmakers were doing. We loved some of what they did, and strongly disliked other things. Some watches were beautiful, but that beauty was superficial. Inexpensive but lacked premium quality. Impressive rhetoric but clearly just words when you handled the products.
Which is why we wanted to make watches that gave you the quality you would expect from a large brand, but at a price point closer to these modern watchmakers.
Our watches go direct from us to you. There are no middlemen to mark the price up. So you can have high quality watches at a very sensible price.
It's true to say that you don’t always get what you pay for with so called “premium” watches. We spent a considerable amount of time studying many different types of watches. This also included purchasing from a number of competitors in the market. We wanted to find a way to make our watches better. This is how:
Ours is not a story of a sudden movement, of a wind of change. It took us 18 months to go from conception to first prototypes. We did not want to create another watch that promised the world but delivered a lemon.
Every part in our watches was considered and chosen with care.
We studied other watches, how they worked, what was great and what wasn’t so great. And we found some wonderful watches. But none of them offered the right balance of classy elegance and quality of finish. The quality you would expect to see on a luxury watch.
We’ve taken delivery of more than 80 different prototypes since those first versions landed on our desks in November 2017.
In our quest for perfection, we wanted to be sure that every part was fit for the purpose it was designed for, and wouldn’t fail.
We chose our manufacturing partners because of their experience in creating watches for some of the world’s most respected watch brands. We count on their experience, while the quality of their standards and attention to detail match our own.
And the results are watches that we are extremely proud to put our name to.
Our watches are crafted with an attention to detail bordering on obsessive. We did spend 18 months getting them from concept to prototype after all! And this attention to detail, coupled with our belief in simply doing things right, is at the heart of what we do.
