The Chimera Vector graphic novel is a techno-thriller about a young girl who is programmed to become the perfect clandestine operative.
UPDATE: We have decided to put the graphic novel on hold until next year and focus on funding The Chimera Vector app.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HELP US CROWDFUND THE APP (AND MAKE A 54% PROFIT FOR YOURSELF) YOU CAN DO SO BY VISITING OUR PAGE ON APPBACKR:
We want to produce a full-length, full-color graphic novel of The Chimera Vector novel!
And we're going to do it all by ourselves ... well, not really, because we need your help, Kickstarters!
- Illustrated by H PoP.
The Chimera Vector novel (in ebook and print-on-demand form) will be published globally in April 2012 by Pan Macmillan's new digital imprint, Momentum.
You can also check out The Chimera Vector app.
But what's missing?
The graphic novel.
This project will fund the first volume of a four volume set, but Kickstarter backers will get volume two in addition to volume one.
That's TWO volumes, just for backing ONE.
Each volume of The Chimera Vector graphic novel will be 100+ pages and we plan to release the volumes throughout 2012. We intend to fund Volumes 2, 3 and 4 ourselves, or we might ask for backing volume 3 next year -- we haven't made up our minds about that yet.
The more this project is overfunded, the bigger Volume ONE will be!
In either case we still need that first little kickstart to get there.
And that's where you come in...
What's the story?
Like all deniable operatives, Sophia is the product of today’s black ops science. The pseudogenes in her DNA have been switched on to augment her senses, her mind splintered into compartmentalized, programmed para-psyches.
Like all operative handlers, Denton is devoted to the Fifth Column, a hidden pathological command that presides over today’s military and intelligence services.
But what happens when renegade Fifth Column scientists start deprogramming operatives like Sophia and setting them against their former handlers?
What is the Chimera vector?
And why will both sides kill to control it?
Ill-equipped and hopelessly outnumbered, Sophia is propelled towards a confrontation that will not only determine her fate but that of the human race.
- $1,900 for Amazon and Kickstarter fees
- $1,500 for your rewards!
- $15,600 to fund a team of 4 talented illustrators who will be working 20 hours per week for 4 months to complete Volume 1
All ebooks are DRM free! Woo.
The two largest pledges on this project will be immortalized as two major hero characters in Book 2!
The print edition of the graphic novel volumes are a Kickstarter exclusive. We will be printing these specifically for Kickstarter backers! We may decide down the track to print all volumes together, but Kickstarter backers will be the only ones with printed volumes.
Although our previous Kickstarter campaign did not succeed (it was pretty huge!), we aren't giving up and we still want to make the app. If we do succeed, then we want to give the app to all our backers for free. (We don't want to mention this in the rewards section because we'd rather not make any promises we can't keep.)
And if you’re a creator yourself, we’re even pimping out Nathan's literary agent, Xavier Waterkeyn, to personally mentor you with your manuscript / screenplay / script. The Master Class rewards are incredible value!
By contributing, you not only make Nathan’s life-long dream come true, but you help define the trajectory of the future of storytelling. Thank you in advance for your support and participation!

Publishing is a speculative and high-risk industry. Each book is an incredible risk because for every ten books a publisher releases, only one will likely turn a profit. And you better hope that one book makes enough to cover the cost of the other nine. Given that publishers' profit margins are paper-thin (see what we did there?) spending even a large amount on a graphic novel in addition to the novel that may or may not cover their costs is extremely unlikely, and unwise. And that's where Kickstarter comes in...
No way! We pay for all international shipping. Your postage is absolutely free.
Just prior to and during the release date. We can't give them out any earlier because the first volume won't be finished or printed yet! You get the rewards as soon as they're ready!
