About this project
Our story so far...
In the early 21st century, Michael A. Arnzen hacked his own poems into their constituent components. Inspired by the popular magnetic word kits, he encouraged visitors to gorelets.com to rearrange his words, creating their own strange poetry. He called it "The Fridge of the Damned." With this set of magnets, Arnzen's virtual fridge poetry emerges from cyberspace and enters the dimension of the real. You are invited to experiment, but be warned: your refrigerator may never be the same again.

From Web to fridge
The first incarnation of "The Fridge of the Damned" was as an online feature on gorelets.com. It included 174 words drawn from Michael A. Arnzen's own poetry, which users could drag and rearrange to their liking.
In 2012, Nathan Rosen created the first physical edition as part of a design project. He printed the original online word list onto commercially available magnet sheets and cut them out by hand. Only four copies exist.
Now, with the support of Raw Dog Screaming Press, we're ready to mass-produce the magnet sets and distribute them to fans of disturbing, imaginative poetry all over the world. We've expanded the list to a whopping 220 words and negotiated manufacturing with US Magnetix, so you know you'll be getting your money's worth. You won't want to miss out!
Kickstarter rewards and stretch goals
We've dug up a really great assortment of rewards. Every single donor will receive a complementary ebook edition of Instigation, Michael A. Arnzen's collection of eerie creative writing prompts. A mere $10 reaps you your very own "Fridge of the Damned" magnet set, and backers at higher levels will receive fantastic rewards such as books, CDs, original poems and design projects, and even personal meet-and-greet sessions! (Please note that the estimated delivery date of March 2013 is only for the magnets and preexisting rewards. Customized rewards may take longer to deliver.)
As for stretch goals, we only need to raise $1500 to produce these magnets, so we've got plenty of room to grow.
First Stretch Goal: If we can reach $2700, every magnet set will come packaged in its own customized tin box. Beyond that... well, you'll just have to wait and see!
Update: We hit the stretch goal! The tins are happening!

Risks and challenges
We're very confident about this. The magnets themselves will be manufactured and packaged by US Magnetix, an established company with a long track record of making fine custom magnetic word tile sets. They promise a 1-2 week turnaround time for production, which we've calculated into the delivery date. In the event of unforeseen catastrophe, we vow to use all resources at our disposal to keep our promises to our backers.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
No problem! Just add $10 to your pledge for each additional set you want, and send us a note to let us know. Alternatively, we'll also be selling the magnet sets after the Kickstarter campaign has come to an end.
