Putting out an EP/LP and shooting a couple music videos won't be cheap. Licensing a voice for a beat can be a huge expense.

Thanks for taking time to check out our Kickstarter page.
We are a few guys with a vision of putting out a great EP. We have no label, and we are unsigned. Our small crew consists of Darwish, Selecta D, and Mao Wang Zi which is his actual Chinese name, meaning, Prince of Cat's.
This Kickstarter page was brought to life after we made a demo of a song sampled by April Meservy called "A Little Less." The song is about a guy who comes home from a business trip and finds his girlfriend had packed up her things and left. She left a letter talking about how she needed less of him in her life and more time to herself. At first he's confused and through the song you can hear him talk to himself. One side of himself seems to be the more reasonable side. In the sample here you can hear the three voices; Prince of Cats talking to himself (Selecta D), while April sings the chorus.
The problem is we need a license to use it. The licensing manager for April really did give us a good deal on the license but unfortunately, Mao Wang Zi is something just starting off. Right now we don't have the fan base to justify the expense of the license at this juncture. But, with Kickstarter we are able to generate presales to justify the purchase of the license and get this baby made!!!
Now on to brighter things.
If we reach our goal, not only will we be putting out "A Little Less", but we'll be putting out an EP. For those who don't know what an EP is, it's a CD with about 4-5 songs. If we can surpass and exceed the 1,500 dollar mark by a large extent, we'll put out an LP! That means more songs on the CD for you! That is the ultimate goal and YOU can help us achieve it!
What will the money be used for?
Your donations and contributions will go first and foremost, straight to get the license for April's song. Second it will cover the cost of the CD duplication. Let's not forget Kickstarter fees as well as Amazon fees. Any money over that will be kicked back towards creating new tracks, paying the musicians as well as the cinematographer and creating the music videos. Speaking of MV's, I plan to go back to Utah to shoot a video next summer for my 1960's sampled song. In other words, all of the money goes straight back into making more music and quality productions.
Why us? Maybe you won't like us?
It's all here. See our first track "Pain" music video featuring Selecta D. Also, feel free to check out a sample of "Awaken" track as well. The music video for Awaken is being shot on a shoe string budget as we speak by myself, as was the "Pain" MV. "A Little Less" has a music video concept already made. We just need to get the licensing to bring it all together and we can get it mastered and start shooting the video too!

Want to support us, but don't feel like forking over the cash?
Simple, we've entered a rap contest where the winner receives... You guessed it! 1,000 buckaroos. Take your bogus garbage email address, and sign up to vote for our video here. Make sure you give us the STACKS of money signs, and you can vote up to 3 times. Just keep voting until it says you can't vote anymore. Whether you support us financially or can give us 5 minutes of your time to help us with the contest, we can get the license for "A Little Less" AND produce a CD.
Risks and challenges
I tried to shoot for a low budget because this is my first kickstarter. I thought of a bare minimal amount I could work with. Let's try to go beyond that and really crank this thing out beautifully.
We tried to be most thoughtful and honest about the rewards system and when these rewards met. This doesn't mean we can't get things done earlier! Again this all depends on you! Let's not only meet the goal, let's pass it! We can do it!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
