One Per Person Status Update

Hello Kickstarter friends and supporters!

We wanted to take a moment to send you an update on the status of the short now that it has completed and begun the studio and festival circuits. As you have probably noticed, a lot of incredibly exciting things have been happening in a relatively short period of time since One Per Person officially wrapped.

To begin, all Kickstarter deliverables have been mailed. Hooray! However, we received a number of returns from the postal service. Oh no! As a result, we will be reaching out within the next month or so to contact donors whose goodies were returned.

Secondly, One Per Person was well received at the Urbanworld film festival in New York City! Audience reaction was highly positive and the co-directors Nasheet and Jacquelyn had a wonderful time meeting other filmmakers and representing the project. Here is a photo of the two directors on the Urbanworld red carpet:

Thirdly, the studio tour that we embarked on was a huge success! One Per Person screened at three major studios! All three screenings were well attended and received extremely positive receptions. We want to thank Disney Animation, Dreamworks SKG, and the third studio (unnamed to respect confidentiality policies) for their hospitality and for opening up their screening rooms for these once-in-a-lifetime opportunities.

Below are a couple of photos from one of the studio presentations, featuring co-directors Jacquelyn and Nasheet:

  • Wednesday, November 2, 9:45 am (Facets Theater 1)

  • Thursday, November 3, 9:45 am (Logan Center Performance Hall)

  • Saturday, November 5, 10:00 am (Gorton Community Center)

To buy tickets, please check out the screenings section of our new website: http://www.oneperperson.com

In addition, One Per Person was selected to be featured in a special evening event hosted by the Chicago International Children's Film Festival at the Gorton Community Center on Thursday, November 3rd at 7 pm. Co-directors Jacquelyn Piette and Nasheet Zaman were selected along with 6 other filmmakers to be featured on a moderated panel for the International Filmmaker Night. This is an enormous honor and we couldn't be more thrilled to have been selected. Information on the event can be found here: http://www.gortoncenter.org/programs/all/international-filmmaker-night

One Per Person's two directors were also selected by Facets, the founder and host of the Chicago International Children's Film Festival, to participate in a "Director in the School" program. On Thursday, November 3, the two directors will be driven to a local school in the Chicago area to do a special screening and Q&A session with the students in order to foster more interest in future careers in the creative arts.

We are continuing to apply to film festivals and will post more updates as they become available. Lots of things are happening behind the scenes and we hope to share a lot more good news with you all in the coming weeks.
