NAOMI SPINDEL will debut at NY Fashion Week in September 2013
I will be debuting the collection NAOMI SPINDEL at New York Fashion Week in September 2013. After receiving my BA in Fashion Design in 2008 and working for 5+ years in the NY fashion industry (JCrew, Oscar de la Renta, Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler, Rebecca Taylor, to name a few), I am ready to share my designs in the most public of formats.
This collection will be a new voice in the industry- the designs are loud, feminine, and tailored to perfection. The flattering fit of the silhouettes will give the customer confidence and comfort to ensure the garments are feel-good in all ways possible. The layered styling of the colors, patterns, and textures of the collection will allow the customer to mix and match the pieces to create a unique look. "Can I pull this off?" is a question I hear too often from friends and shoppers, and a question that won't apply to the NAOMI SPINDEL collection. With the use of ribbon closures and relaxed fit, the garments will be sized "1 or 2", and will adapt to each wearer's frame.
I am sketching, draping, patternmaking, coloring, sewing, fitting, and hand embellishing the entire collection myself to avoid overhead costs to get this collection going. What I need your help with is the cost of raw materials and necessary helping hands to pull this off! A HUGE thank you to all of you, and I look forward to sharing this collection with you in September.
I have started a blog for the evolution of the line- please join me at www.naomispindel.tumblr.com to follow the collection from start to finish!
THANK YOU! LOVE, NAOMI
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Of the many potential risks involved in designing a line (a model trips, a garment rips, a venue falls through, a tight deadline and over-ambitious collection..), the show must go on! I will show the collection at Fashion Week in the biggest capacity I can wrap my arms around, and will forever leave a mark within the industry. Thank you for all your support during the process!
