WATCH OUR PILOT
What's the series about?
The creative team of Eric Folks, Marie Claire Roussel, Mariette Strauss and Alex J Gould brings you a new comedy series about a group of nannies tending to the spawn of New York City's elite. Together they traverse the bubble that is NYC privatized childcare, navigating neurotic parents, destructive children, food allergies, severe under-appreciation, lack of motivation, and their deep-seated fear of becoming the people they despise...all while sitting on a park bench.
Everyone has worked a job they despise. But it's different when the next generation of high society is in your hands.
Why so much money?
We plan on filming 6 episodes this summer, penned by Sean Murphy and directed by Dolan Bloom.
To achieve the high level of quality and professionalism we desire, there are many expenses, both obvious ones and others more insidious. There are numerous essential collaborators on a film set, who must be compensated for their work and indispensable skills.
Film production is costly. Crew members who must be compensated include: 1st Assistant Director, Director of Photography, Production Manager, Hair/Makeup, Production Sound Mixer, Costume Designer/ Wardrobe, Production Designer, Art Department Assistants, and Production Assistants. Once we account for the rental of film equipment, lights, location rental fees, permits, transportation, craft services, and short-term production insurance, the bill has already exceeded $10,000.
Then comes post-production. This process involves multiple people going over the footage with a fine-tooth comb finding the select moments out of the hours of material we have and carefully cutting them together into the perfect audiovisual package. Post requires the following folks: Editor, Colorist, Graphics Designer, Music Supervisor, and Sound Designer.
Finally, let’s not forget the hidden costs of maintaining a website domain and promoting the show after its release. We must also set aside funds for festival submissions and publicity — necessary components to ensure that we can reach our audience and find our path forward beyond season one.
We plan on utilizing volunteers and cutting costs where we can, but we do believe that artists and filmmakers should be compensated fairly for their work.
**Additionally, pitching our project on this e-platform means that 5% of the funds are collected by Kickstarter as a fee.
STRETCH GOAL: $25,000 - We have discussed a NANNIES holiday special, released this December, and if we exceed this goal it can be created and brought to life!!! Additionally, any extra money raised will allow us to cut fewer corners and be able to entice the most skilled individuals to work with us. Basically, it will give us some wiggle room.

Risks and challenges
Every creative project faces a certain number of risks and challenges from conception to completion and NANNIES is no exception. We are fortunate to have a solid network of friends who are creative professionals themselves. This network provides us with a safety net of sorts to offset potential hiccups along the way! While we do not foresee any major delays in production or release there is the possibility that the series may have its public release later than planned. If these do occur honesty is our policy: our backers will be the first to know both the cause and our solution.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
