Sometimes less is more. Stripping an object of all its non-essential features can deliver a more direct, raw, uninhibited experience. It’s like shooting with a film camera or driving a sports car. It is more uncompromising, yet infinitely more authentic and exhilarating.
What if we achieved this level of experience with a fountain pen, an instrument that means so much for creative expression?
When we designed the Nexus pen our goal was to uncover the essence of the writing instrument, to simplify it, keeping only that which was strictly necessary, in order to obtain the purest writing experience possible. We wanted to create a pen that would allow your creativity to flow unhindered.
Bock 250 Nibs correspond to a #6 Nib.
For a sublime writing experience, the Nexus fountain pen needed to look great, feel comfortable in the hand, and glide effortlessly across paper.
To achieve this we made the Nexus with the highest quality parts we could find. The nib, which is the most important part of a fountain pen, will be made by Bock, one the finest nib manufacturers in Germany. They make nibs for many of the top brands on the market and their level of craftsmanship and performance is just breathtaking.
The Nexus’s ergonomic body, born of one seamless arc, fits naturally in your hand. It is precision machined from aircraft grade 6061 aluminium or Grade 2 Titanium. This means that it is carved from solid bar of metal, rather than through complex moulds or mass production techniques; just a CNC controlled blade taking away metal one pass at a time.
This is something you really do feel when you hold the pen, the solidity, the substance that resides in the object.
Most controversially, we've removed the clip from the cap. Moreover you cannot post the cap. This invites you to write with the pen in its most basic state, unburdened by bulky caps and unsightly clips that are usually found on fountain pens.
A few specifications:
- Weight with cap: 28g (Titanium 50g)
- Weight without cap: 24g (Titanium (43g)
- Length with cap: 142mm
- Length without cap: 132mm
- Section Diameters: 14mm (Widest) and 9.5mm (Thinnest)
N.B. These are values from the pre-production samples. Final dimensions and weights may vary slighty.
The Nexus can be refilled in several ways:
1.Standard cartridge and double cartridges - When you use a single cartridge, a second spare can fit in the body of the Nexus.
2. Converter "Through the Nib" - Using a standard converter such as the Faber Castell Twist Converter or our own standard converter, you can refill from an ink bottle (not supplied) by dipping the nib up to the top and twisting the pen to draw up ink.
Any standard converter will work but those with elastic sealing offer superior performance.
By adding £3 to your pledge you will get a high quality converter which has been specifically tested with the Nexus Minimal Fountain Pen.
Keep your Nexus fountain pen safe wherever you go with our minimal sleeves. Made from 100% natural vegetable tanned leather by skilled artisans located in the Valencia region of Spain. The leather is untreated so it will darken, becoming richer with age.
Just add the following amounts to your pledge:
- 1 x Sleeve: £10 - $16 - €13
- 2 x Sleeve: £18 - $30 - €22
- 3 x Sleeve: £26 - $43 - €32

We are professional designers with 3+ years of experience in product design and we’ve successfully completed a Kickstarter project before, so we are confident that we can fulfill the project by these dates. That being said, as with any production run, unexpected problems can arise and cause delays. We’ve done as much as possible to prevent these by producing pre-production samples so as to avoid time consuming engineering problems.
Risks and challenges
We are a team of product designers with 3+ years experience and have already successfully completed a Kickstarter campaign in the past. We are confident that we can meet all the challenges posed by this project.
On the engineering side, we already have quotes from our suppliers and had pre-production samples of the Nexus built by them. This means that all the design challenges have already been discovered and addressed. We are ready for a full production run.
On the logistics side we already have business mail accounts with a partner in the UK which means can ship high volumes of mail at a competitive price and in time.
Problems can still arise, as with any production run, but we have done everything in our power to avoid delays. Should any issues occur, we have the industrial experience required to resolve them and stay on track.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
