Thanks for visiting our Kickstarter project. We appreciate your time and interest, and for that reason, we'll get right to the info you want to know.
It all started one day when I saw a 'got milk?' commercial and thought to myself: "I'd rather have a cow."
But what is it? Well, "Have a Cow!" is a competitive card game of hand management that requires timing, ingenuity, and strategy. Your goal is to make hay and attract cows while thwarting your opponents' attempts to do the same.
It's whimsical and humorous, yet strategic and thoughtful. You'll use cards in combinations, like pickup trucks and tractors, dogs and farmhands, or even UFOs and Dragons to accomplish your goals, all while trying to be the first player to build a herd of 4 cows.
The game has taken time, effort and an exhausting number of mouse clicks to become what it is today. Hitting our goals here at Kickstarter will ensure that the game becomes the best that it can be in both game-play and presentation.
It's really been a joy to produce, so we're excited to share the fun and get the game out there, where the cows can run free - on your tabletop!
With each hand of "Have a Cow!", you'll have to figure out the best sequence in which to play the cards in your hand and maximize their results.
Do you want to build your herd? Make more hay? Send a UFO out there to abduct everyone's cows? Go for it. It's up to you to decide what will earn you victory and thwart you opponents' plans.
Setting up the game is easy and game play is quick - but not so quick that you can't plot and plan, or take revenge by unleashing a dragon to burn everyone's hay! Burn! Ha ha ha! Uh, sorry. Let's continue with this simple and pleasing graphical example of game set up.
When you back "Have a Cow!", the game will come to you in a limited edition Kickstarter Edition box. It's a beefy, 72-card deck of colorful cards, ready to play for up to 4 players.
Another reason we came to Kickstarter was so that we could afford to print the game in bulk and share the game with as many people as possible. Kickstarter seemed like the best solution to solve our art and distribution needs.
"Have a Cow!" will be ready to ship as soon as the Kickstarter campaign ends. Once the campaign is wrapped and the logistics are complete, we plan to import Lauren's art and then ship the game immediately. "Moo!"
Hopefully we'll be able to reach the stretch goals below and include them in every copy of the game.
Each stretch goal will add a new, and wonderfully endearing piece of custom artwork to the game.
Our artist, Lauren Szewczyk (good luck pronouncing that one!), is a hard-working college student and a wonderfully talented artist with a great imagination. We're hoping to hit our stretch goals to both help Lauren with her education and to make "Have a Cow!" an even better-looking and more endearing game.
Thank you! Here's a Parting Message.
Risks and challenges
Risks and Challenges
Have a Cow was born as a print-on-demand product. As such, it was expensive to produce a single copy of the game. Our goal with Kickstarter is to produce in bulk and print the game at a lower price. This will enable us to share our game with as many people as possible.
The game itself is ready to print and ship but our stretch goals will add content that must be produced. This content requires time, effort, illustration and graphic design work. This will be the challenge involved with Have a Cow.
As the designer of all the components, I feel confident that I will be able to import all the new content in a timely manner and fulfill all our delivery and shipment goals.
