About this project
As a highly dedicated team focused on rebooting the myth series, our goal is to create a faithful and vivid reboot of this beloved strategy game series. With our community resources, and extensive knowledge base about the engine itself, we will use the funding to create a thrilling, 20+ single player campaign, and endlessly expandable free multiplayer universe (and release and update modding tools as well!). Tapping into the skills of hired professionals and the community itself, we will be bringing Myth back for a new generation of gamers, with an all-new epic storyline for singleplayer and co-op gameplay! Kill your friends on all-new multiplayer maps with returning favorites from past myths as well. This will ensure that everything that made Myth 1 & 2 great will carry over into the new Myth experience! We don't want to change what makes the first two Myth games feel like Myth, we plan on bringing the same phenomenal engine into the modern era!

Character portraits, rendered scenes, digital paintings.. the works! It's all included in this wonderful and fun-to-browse digital book!
The Digital Stat Book
A handcrafted and thoroughly detailed look into the actual character statistics and level layouts! Contains tips on how to play the game, strategies for certain levels, and all-around useful information pertaining to the actual workings of the Myth battlefield! Refine your strategies, learn your characters strengths/weaknesses, and dominate with superior tactical knowledge!
The Musical Score
The orchestral beauty that is the Myth soundtrack is yours to put on your iPod, or listen to on your home stereo! Pounding drums, eerie violins and resonant cello chords permeate this tragically beautiful composition.
Your Name In Credits
Everyone who backs us rules. Everyone who loves Myth rules. So it stands to reason that anyone who loves Myth _and_ backs us indeed rules. We're showing our appreciation by putting everyone (who wants it) who backs us in the credits! After all, none of this would be possible without you, the Myth Fans!
The Icon System
How do the "Backer", "Founder", "Mythic", and "Legendary" tags work? Simple. Anyone who donates gets at LEAST the "Backer" tag. It appears in your multiplayer name as an image overlayed on the right portion of your player avatar (rectangle). Each higher tier gets the next highest icon, until it caps off at "Legendary" ($80 and up). Anyone who bought the game after the kickstarter campaign is over will not receive any special icons - they're only for backers! In multiplayer, there is another hidden benefit! People who have a similar color to you normally get "floyned". It's a term meaning "two team colors were too similar, so the game gave one of the players a random color change". Your icon level denotes your level of floyability.
What does that mean? A person with a Legendary icon can only be floyned by other Legendary icon players. Anyone else under them is automatically "lower priority" when the computer decides who gets to keep their original color. So, the higher tier your icon, the more likely you are to retain your color over others! Oh, and ANY level of backer icon supersedes those who bought the game after it was released!
The Warrior Name
If you donated at the warrior tier or above, you automatically get to have your name (or a name different than your own if you prefer) to be one of the many names in a list that the game uses for playable characters! Use your real name, your first name, your last name, or just something totally made up!
The Custom Icon
In multiplayer, you get to choose a name, and icon, a color (from a dynamic color wheel!) and if you have a special icon, whether to turn it on/off. At this low tier, you will get to be a significant contribution to the game! Icons are to show personality and style, and with this reward you get to add your creativity to the game! How it works: we send you a template, you send us back your finished icon, and we'll add it to the list of chooseable icons in multiplayer!
Epic Battle Poster
At $80, you receive the epic battle poster! A giant scene of conflagration and mayhem for you to hang on your wall! Admire the intricate conflicts that permeate the entire piece like a medieval "Where's Waldo?" of carnage! At 100 dollars, your epic poster is given signatures by members of the dev team(not a duplicate poster with a signature on it)!
At the 100 dollar level, you will receive this wonderful 100% cotton T-Shirt with several designs to choose from for your reward! The Carnage.net silhouette/green fire logo is the first official design, but long before the project is complete, we will be offering options before we ship to our t-shirt receiving customers on which design they would like! These shirts will be ONE OF A KIND and no more will be printed after the campaign run!
Satchel Charge Throw Pillow
In Myth, a satchel charge is a sack filled with an unstable concoction of black powder and special proprietary Dwarven ingredients! Unstable by nature, they compliment the fearless, psychotic Dwarves who wear them in bulk on their backs in backpacks and lay them down as traps for their grenades to ignite. When they do.. KA-BOOM! Well, why not dream yourself into oblivion by resting your noggin on pounds of fantasy high-explosives with this awesome custom-designed Satchel Charge Throw Pillow! Your name on a headstone
Just how it sounds! Give us either your real name, or the name you used for your "Your name on a warrior" tier and we'll make sure you are accounted for as a dead-ass graveyard stiff with a headstone SOMEWHERE in the actual game's levels! You wont just be on some secret level with a thousand other schmo's gravestones.. there are a good numbers of graves in the myth world and you could be on any one of 'em! We, of course, will try to put them in cool, highly visible areas! Be a cool part of a cool map! Sweet!
The Physical Stat Book
...A lovely printed version of the digital statistics book! On-the-fly check the attack ranges, movement speeds, view distances and other strategic information with this nicely bound and high-quality physical rendition of the Statistics Book! Contains level strategies, overhead maps, unit descriptions and more!
Your name on a unique shrine
Similar to the headstone reward, but here's the distinction - you will have your name be who the shrine is dedicated to! Not some three foot tall gravestone, no sir, at this tier you get a MASSIVE STATUE, or a CRAZY COOL PART OF SOME RUINS, or something else UNIQUE AND EPIC to shrine your name on! We will be looking for ways to include your name on perhaps a really cool set piece to a level, or just make a totally unique badass shrine dedicated to just you! Either way, you'll end up in a sweet spot in the game
Create your own artifact
This tier is going to be a lot of fun for whoever gets it! At this tier, you get to work with us to create an item of power that will be placed somewhere in the game! This can be an item with either very significant or subtle changes to the gameplay. You can affect MANY MANY things, from something as mundane as getting a little more health, to something amazing like an impressive and visually stunning new spell! You get to say what it'll look like, what it'll do (within reason, we will want to balance it somewhat, but obviously balance doesnt mean we cant make it amazingly destructive, it just has to have a drawback of some sort). We love making new attacks. We love making new spells. And we LOVE putting new stuff in the game. Everybody wins!
Myth Statue/Action figure
That's right, you get a super detailed amazing 3d printed sculpture based on the 3d models of whichever unit you want! A favorite old myth unit? One of the new ones we made? You name it, we make it! You get your very own Myth character to hang around your desk and generally make you one of the coolest Myth fans ever.
Design a level
That's right, BIG and SIGNIFICANT contributions are possible (and encouraged) through donations! We are great fun to work with, and we will help you see your level's idea through to completion! Whether the map is single player or multiplayer will give it different guidelines, and it's the kind of tier reward that you should really call us first about, so everyone can get a clear idea of what's involved. We are confident that the end result will be a beautiful, fun map for single or multiplayer games, and you get to say "HEY I MADE THIS!" as you blow up your friends on it!
Design a unit
Oh, man. This is the big one. You get to come up with the idea and shape the production of a REAL UNIT THAT WILL ACTUALLY BE IN THE GAME! Iconic characters in Myth are what helped it remain unchallenged in the arena of low-fantasy for over a decade! Great concept art and ideas go a long way towards making a great game, and at this reward you get to actually be a SIGNIFICANT force of contribution to the project! The unit you create will have its own backstory, names, and place in the Myth universe! Do you want to create a "boss" or "Badass" character which there's only one of in the Myth universe, or do you want to create an entirely new army unit type, such as a badass mercenary warrior type with two swords, or maybe an evil new kind of monster or undead creature that will be featured (prominently) in the single player campaign as an enemy to fight against! (And every enemy in single player is a choosable unit in multiplayer, so any character you come up with will DIRECTLY affect the gameplay balance and flow of the levels that he is included on!). If you make a new warrior unit, youll get him in single player. If you make a new enemy unit, you'll be FIGHTING him in single player, but REGARDLESS of which you choose, it will DEFINITELY end up playing a big role in multiplayer! Oh, the possibilities!
Risks and challenges
Upon reaching our funding goals we can obtain the license. If unable to obtain the license, we will refund all backers pledges. When we secure the license - then the real work begins. Normally, when games are developed, there are quite a few uncertainties. Working with people who have been intimately familiar with every aspect of the Myth franchise, from playing to modding to coding, will reduce the development cycle substantially. There will be far less uncertainty in our production pipeline and feature implementation, and more actual content creation and polishing of the game, making for far less guesswork. It's hard to describe just how excited our team is about this project - this is a very low-risk, high-yield endeavor. We aren't making a game from scratch, we're finishing a vision we've always had.
Not much will need to be done to improve the system that was already set up. That is the beauty of Myth - to make it modern will not necessitate starting from scratch. Most people wouldn't believe just how far this development team has come without a budget other than our own hard-earned cash; being fueled by passion alone for many years and still loving the process.
And now it's all down to this - we have a highly polished demo and many working examples of the proposed feature additions, and all team
members have at the very minimum 10+ years being intimitately familiar creating content with the Myth engine and its capabilities. Not to mention there are a ton of people still developing for the Myth games, which is a wonderful resource! People love Myth so much, that some would be more than willing to volunteer their time for a game they love.
Those that join the cause would not need to be brought up to speed - the development cycle would be smooth, efficient and FUN! We wouldn't need to use valuable time and resources to bring everyone up to speed on the entire Myth franchise!
What does this also mean for people who love Myth? Job opportunities. That's right, we will be hiring people still active in the community! Job opportunities AND a new Myth Title! For someone who already loves the game and makes things for it, what could be a more amazing opportunity?!
New to modding or level design? No worries, by making video tutorials and guides plus behind the scenes video documentary filmed during the entire production we will show you how to, step by step, create all the different content in the game. From effects, to creating new weapons or how to start making maps, developers will be able to make their own stories and missions come to life by learning how to script levels and edit many aspects of the game. We'll provide super detailed tutorials on how to start rendering units so that they appear perfectly in game!
You and your friends can Imagine and create all new devastating weapons and armies to destroy your enemies on new maps and castles that YOU have made with the powerful included editors!
