Thanks to backers like you, both Issue #1 and Issue #2 have successfully reached their funding goals on Kickstarter. Though we were delayed during the production of Issue #2 due to a natural disaster and some unforeseen artist changes in the 11th hour it was patience and commitment to quality that helped us complete the book. We were able to get the original penciler (Ariel Medel) back, we've completed Issue #2, and are finally ready to continue the story with Alt Control Delete Issue #3.
In Issue 1, Tess, a jaded professional gamer, is exhausted by the weight of the city's victories on her team's shoulders. In a world where eSports have replaced war, she grows tired of the limelight, the criticism, and the lack of privacy. When her best friend and fellow gamer, Mercy, goes missing, Tess decides to risk her tournament standings and search the city's dark underworld for any clues.
In Issue 2, Tess escapes from her corporate oasis and takes a trip to the Burrows, the dark underbelly of this isolated Utopian meritocracy. With one decent lead, she seeks out the only person she knows can provide some new clues about her whereabouts. Tess draws unwanted attention in the dark underbelly of the city, including the radar of some Alt Control Delete agents.
Now, in Issue 03, Tess must face the consequences of her rebellious actions as she comes face to face with the mysterious man driven by one thing: revenge against the founders of this utopian oasis. She will have to compete at the highest levels of the the Virtual if she hopes to maintain her status in the Real.
The main cover of Issue 03 will be drawn by Ariel Medel and inked by Jagdish Kumar, with colors by Candice Han. This is the same team handling the main story of our interior pages. Some pages in the book take place inside of one of the many Virtual Worlds, so the art for those pages is drawn by a different team for each world.
We've also commissioned several insanely talented artists that are currently thriving in the Indie Comics Scene to do a few Variant Covers for the issue and we are truly blown away by each of their approaches to a basic theme.
Because this book tells a story that leaps constantly between the Real World and the various Virtual Worlds, we wanted to make sure that each Game World had a very different look.
So, this is the team that is guiding the main through-line, as these characters navigate this dystopian world where gaming is a part of the fabric of society and all conflicts are generally resolved through virtual competition.
Art for "the Real" world is brought to vivid life by this incredibly talented team:
We wanted to keep the stretch goals as simple and easy as possible, so rather than tease you with one extra perk at a time, these milestones will unlock a bunch of Art Prints, Bookmarks, Stickers and Postcards.
We are working toward the ultimate goal of finishing the FOURTH and FINAL ISSUE, so we hope to entice you with plenty of merch at slightly larger milestone goals.
For now, the first two are locked, but as we near the first milestone of 400 Backers, I'll add all the details and the rest of the stretch goals.
Risks and challenges
This is now our fifth Kickstarter, and to tell the truth, we've finally gotten to a point where we feel confident we can deliver without any of the delays we faced in the first few campaigns. As a producer/project manager of big projects in games, animation, and live action, I've been fortunate enough to learn best through experience.
Having experienced and successfully overcome a variety of challenges in our first few campaigns - from production to fulfillment and shipping - we're confident we have worked out the issues and can deliver unhindered and on time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
