Dinner's Ready! is a fun, family card game where players draw recipe cards, then collect the necessary ingredients to make them. While playing, players will build a "balanced meal" through interacting with the five food groups, exploring the versatility of everyday ingredients, and learning new, healthy recipes!
The mission of our Dinner’s Ready! card game is to get families (or friends) sitting down together, away from computer screens, talking about food. We're creating a new opportunity for parents to teach their kids about the importance of healthy eating. Fun and competitive gameplay will educate children (and adults!) about the ingredients used in the food they eat and how to make healthy, delicious meals at home!
The ideal outcome of playing Dinner’s Ready! is an inspired child, rather than wanting unhealthy fast food, will ask her parents to prepare recipes she learned from playing Dinner’s Ready! game.
For the game's recipes, we’ve partnered with Celebrity Chefs Chris Hodgson and Robin Miller, as well as gathered tidbits from healthy cookbooks, other health conscious chefs, and our own family recipes, so you can rest assured they are (reasonably) healthy and kid friendly!
The basic Dinner’s Ready! game comes with 30 healthy recipes, 50 ingredient cards, a handful of “rotten ingredients,” and informational cards. Our ultimate goal is for children to gain a new perspective on cooking and ask to eat one of the delicious meals from the game.
The game is also fun for an “adults only” crowd! Our Four Course Expansion Deck features exclusive recipes from Chefs Hodgson and Miller, as well as a set of “Drink Pairing” cards with an optional “Drinking Suggestions” card if you want to boost the stakes. You’re never too old to learn some delicious new recipes while sharing an adult beverage with friends.
Our top expansion pack, the Family Recipe Deck, is a set of blank recipe and ingredient cards, for you to keep track of your own family recipes and incorporate them into the Dinner’s Ready! game.
As you can see, we already have a majority of the cards designed, so we will be using Kickstarter as a platform to fund the rest of the project (manufacturing, packaging, etc.) and deliver it, and other offerings, to our supporters and community centers.
[UNLOCKED!] 50 SUPPORTERS - Adding the “Secret Ingredient” Cards.
Every Chef has a “secret ingredient” when it comes to their signature recipe. If we have 50 supporters, we’ll add five “Secret Ingredient” cards to the basic version of Dinner’s Ready! One for each food group!
100 BACKERS - Adding Family Recipe Cards.
Building a personal connection to healthy family recipes is a great way for children to get excited about cooking and healthy eating. If we reach 100 supporters, we’ll include two blank “Family Recipe” cards with every basic Dinner’s Ready! game, so players can incorporate their own recipes into the gameplay!
500 BACKERS - Printed Dinner’s Ready! Cook Book.
We’ll include a softbound copy of the Dinner’s Ready! Cook Book with every single deck. This will not only include the full recipes used in the game, it also has instructions, FAQ, facts and other entertaining food fun!
1000 BACKERS - Dinner's Ready! Play Mat.
F-o-r-k. L-e-f-t. K-n-i-f-e. R-i-g-h-t. Which plate is for which course? And where do you put the compost pile? If we reach 1000 supporters, we’ll include a Dinner’s Ready! play mat, a place setting guide for playing the game.
2500 BACKERS - Exclusive Kickstarter Dinner’s Ready! Game
If we reach 2500 supporters, we're going to make a limited edition of Dinner's Ready! based on a particular cuisine chosen by the supporters! It will only be available to Kickstarter backers and it will never be reprinted!

Risks and challenges
During development, we took into consideration a number of potential problems that could arise during, and after, the crowdsourcing campaign. First, we made sure to have most of our content finished before we launched the campaign. We've already printed test decks through our desired manufacturer, so we're confident they will be able to deliver the quality product we're hoping to provide in a timely manner.
Some other potential problems that could arise after publishing would be, due to a massive volume of orders, the printing takes longer than projected. While we have set a turnaround of 3 months, we're hoping to deliver earlier than our deadline.
Another potential problem is packing and shipping out the product, especially internationally. In the event we have a huge number of units to provide, we have a team of volunteers who are ready to help us pack and ship off the games.
Some additional problems that may arise would be "returns" due to errors in mailing addresses. In an attempt to minimize those mistakes, we're going to provide an additional questionnaire to our supporters to alert them to the shipping costs and make sure we have their correct mailing addresses.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
