Two years ago we came up with a crazy idea. We decided to set all 150 Psalms to music. The Psalms are meant to be sung. That's how God inspired them, how David wrote them, and what God's people have always done. They're our songbook.
When we started we didn't know if we could pull it off or if anybody would care. But by faith we started working, and God blessed us. Pretty soon we had our first batch of psalms done—the first ten.
Then we had to figure out what to do with them. We were just a church band. It's not like we had a record label tearing down our door to finance this project and make us Christian music superstars.
So we took them to you. We launched a Kickstarter campaign, and God affirmed our work and blessed us mightily. Which means you guys came through in a big way. You gave us the funds we needed to complete the first album of Psalms 1-10 and get it out to the world.
What God Did
One year after our first Kickstarter, the Psalm settings God gave us have been sung not just across the country, but across the world. We've reached churches and pastors and musicians and regular folks from all walks of life.
We've heard from Oregon and Scotland and California and South Carolina and Argentina, all from God's people who have been blessed by the work we're doing.
Now we're doing it all over again, and we need your help. We're back with more Psalms—fully versified and ready to record.
Help us get Vol. 2 'Psalms 11–20' recorded, mixed, mastered, and ready to go and be a part of helping bring the Word of God to the world in a fresh and compelling way. And get some great rewards in the process, including a chance to hear the album before anyone else.
Why We Care
This project has been such a huge blessing to each of us. As we've given ourselves to versifying these psalms, God has changed us—how we worship, how we think, how we feel. The same goes for our church. The ways we've seen God at work in the life of our congregation through this project is amazing.
We know we're just a small part of the work God has been doing over centuries. Our desire is to stand with our fathers in the faith, the godly psalter composers of the past, and our brothers around the country who are bringing the psalms to life in fresh ways for God's people.
We believe this is God's calling on our lives, and we're excited to get this next installment in your hands.
Risks and challenges
Any time you set about a self-produced project like this, there are challenges. But there are no permits standing in our way. No studio scheduling obstacles. The only real risk we see is that something catastrophic and unforeseen could happen. And it could. That's why God teaches us to say, "If the Lord wills, we will do this or that."
But outside of something catastrophic, the only thing standing between us and this project is the time and money we need to complete it. And if you've got the money, honey, we've got the time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
