Bring Back Real Photography!
(Or: Why was miggo invented?)
Turns out there’s been a boom in photography ever since smartphones began taking passable pictures. Why aren’t people using their cameras instead? Because they are uncomfortable and awkward, and they’d rather not bother.
As designers who worked for years developing and producing award-winning camera bags for some of the world’s top brands, we suddenly understood that things have changed right under our noses. This shift required new, more comfortable and intuitive solutions for carrying and protecting cameras.
The next best thing that happened to us was that we left our former positions and started a new company with a whole new outlook. It’s a kind of startup, and it’s quite exciting.
We began from scratch, and brought to the table all of our combined knowledge and experience, to give photographers and hobbyists something fresh that will keep them from leaving their cameras at home.
The idea in 44 words
(Yep, we know your time is precious)
miggo is a padded camera strap or grip that carries your camera comfortably. Done shooting? Simply wrap miggo around your camera to get great protection without the need to carry bulky camera bag. Just slip miggo to your personal bag and off you go.
Why we believe the world needs another
We discovered that more and more people were leaving their cameras at home because they couldn’t bother lugging around their bulky camera bags, in addition to their personal bag.
We designed miggo so it can carry your camera inside your personal bag – that same bag that goes everywhere with you. Together with miggo, your personal bag provides superior protection to your camera without the need for schlepping along another special camera bag
Besides protecting the camera from damage, miggo does more:
- Strap&Wrap serves as a padded, comfortable strap, and Grip&Wrap serves as a secure grip that prevents your camera from falling out of your hand while shooting.
- The entire miggo family comes in various cool colors and patterns, which makes it a fashion statement too.
- All miggo products have a special dedicated pocket for the lens’ cap, so it doesn’t get lost. It's a simple, yet highly requested feature.
- Thanks to the smart adapter screw, you can connect your camera to a tripod even while miggo is attached. It will save you time and effort.

The miggo story
After many years of working for one of the world’s leading camera bag manufacturers, developing countless bestselling camera bags, we decided to fulfill a dream and start a company of our own which will bring photo enthusiasts fresh, new and advanced solutions for carrying cameras.
The team members are: Ohad Cohen - designer, Ran Cohen - Ohad's brother and in charge of engineering, Guy Sprukt - Graphic and product design and finally; Yuval Kemp - in charge of the project and user experience.
Together we bring to the table a combination of high quality design capabilities, as well as years of experience in manufacturing superb camera bags for both hobbyists and professionals.
Few months ago we set out on this adventure and pretty soon we came up with a new idea - miggo - a camera strap and grip that will be used for protecting a camera as well as carrying it. With all of our combined years of experience designing camera bags, this was different. We started by drawing up some sketches and sewing initial samples by ourselves, knowing all along it would be long and tough but rewarding process.
Today, after countless cups of coffee and a lot of hard work, we are ready to present the current miggo products. We sewed dozens of prototypes for straps and grips from different materials, in various shapes and sizes, and invested a lot of engineering work on the metal screw mount and other details.
We are ready for production!
We have carefully selected a factory which has many years of experience in producing protective camera and computer bags. They produce gear for many known brands in the US and Europe and might be on the expensive side, but quality and timing is their top priority. In the past 3 months, as our development stage was getting closer to a finished product, we began sourcing and securing contracts and material specs with raw material vendors for the Neoprene, Lycra, zippers and metal screw mount. Two weeks ago we met with the factory managers and discussed final detailed plans and timelines in order to make sure we will be able to deliver the products as stated in the project timeline.
Immediately after funding we will collate the models and sizes chosen by our backers and send our purchasing order to the material vendors in order to finalize the first miggo batch production plan.
During June 2014 you will receive your miggo by mail, no matter where you live. By using 3 regional warehouses in the US, Europe and Asia, we will be able to bulk ship orders to the warehouse and then ship them to our backers.
We hope you will love miggo just like we love it, and support us by purchasing one of our great products.
THANK YOU for your support!
Risks and challenges
We have invested tons of effort in order to make sure we will be able to deliver Miggo on time but, Murphy is always on the lookout and many unexpected things can happen .
The factory we selected has decades of experience in producing neoprene bags and cases and we have made prepared many samples and carefully selected material suppliers and shipping companies. Backup plans are in place and we promise to make our upmost efforts to reduce any delays that might arise to minimum.
We plan to ship all orders during June 2014, so your miggo will be delivered right to your door.
At the moment, miggo is suitable for small to mid-sized DSLRs and mirrorless cameras only.
Check out our simple measuring method on the project page. It will tell you if your camera + lens will fit one of the miggo models. In any case, we always recommend measuring your camera to guarantee compatibility before ordering.
There are 2 reasons:
1. miggo connects to the tripod socket at the bottom of your camera. Each camera has a different build which requires a different connection solution to miggo, even when the tripod socket isn't in the standard place.
2. We designed the miggo connector plate to enable suitability to cameras with lenses of various lengths – from very short ones to zoom lens. In any case, we always recommend measuring your camera to guarantee compatibility before ordering.
It's called the tripod socket and it's for connecting your camera to a tripod even while miggo is mounted to it.
No. miggo provides protection from scratches and impact only.
Yes, for 5 years.
As soon as the project will end, you will be asked to choose a color
