Unlocked (and protected) with the swipe of a finger, myIDkey is the Industry's first biometric secure Bluetooth / USB drive and password manager.
Why did we create the myIDkey? We recognized a familiar pain point in most digital users lives and built a simple password management device. Today, we have literally hundreds of passwords, account numbers and other important information that we have to remember. myIDkey is the first fingerprint, voice-search, secure Bluetooth / USB drive that displays passwords and ID on the go as well as works with all smart mobile devices and personal computers. Now passwords and account information is at the tip of your finger.

Unparalleled protection + Quick and easy access. With myIDkey, your finger (or thumb) print is your key to unlock your highly personal data such as passwords, bank accounts, passports, etc. Simply swipe your thumb or finger across the reader to view passwords and more.
When you need it fast, simply speak. After unlocking your myIDkey with a finger swipe, you can simply press and hold the microphone button and speak into your myIDkey to quickly recall and see that important number, date or whatever personal data is needed in a flash.
Complete password management. Whether wirelessly connected to your phone or tablet via Bluetooth, or when directly plugged into your desktop or notebook PC via USB, myIDkey autofills your credentials for any site. With complete password management that is also protected by your fingerprint, you never have to remember another password again! Plus, myIDkey can automatically generate unique passwords for further protection - all of which is easily managed with the myIDkey app.
Now you have a key to all your devices. By wirelessly syncing your myIDkey to your iPhone, iPad or Android phone or tablet via Bluetooth, you can create an extra layer of security for protecting what matters most.
Free myIDkey app makes it easy... and safe. Customize your log in with multiple finger swipes, tap sequences and more to create unbreakable access to all of your most important or sensitive content.
You have stuff you want protected no matter what. We can relate, and with the myIDkey app, you can easily select anything you'd like to have more security on your iPhone, iPad or Android device.
When you need it, there it is. With built-in and customizable OLED display, you can easily see that important data no matter what the lighting is around you. With voice search and included scroll buttons, you can easily find your passwords and important data.
Want even more protection? With optional tap sequence, you can set up a personal sequence that needs to be administered along with your thumbprint to unlock your myIDkey. So set up one tap, two taps or a custom pattern only you would know to further protect your passwords and identity.
Made to fit your busy, mobile lifestyle. myIDkey easily attaches to your key ring, your purse or whatever you choose so it can always be by your side. Think of it as your personal, safe key to all the numbers, codes, dates and passwords you use every day.
Security and style in one. With a removable ONYX BLACK protective case, you can ensure your myIDkey is protected during your busy lifestyle. The case easily slips over the device and locks into place for ultimate protection from scratches, wear and tear. Bonus for Kickstarter backers: in addition to the included case, we're throwing in a free PEARL WHITE case. Plus, we'd like our backers to vote on the next case color!
You can't be too safe when dealing with passwords. We employ the latest security and encryption protocols to ensure your passwords and other personal data is always safe. We never keep your data anywhere in a form that isn't encrypted - so only you (and your fingerprint of course) can access.
Fail-safe protection, even if lost or stolen. If your myIDkey is ever lost or stolen, you're still protected. If there are multiple attempts to access the information within, myIDkey will automatically erase everything so you're still protected. If you retrieve your myIDkey or purchase a new one, you can simply restore your information by syncing to your desktop or to our secure cloud.
Get complete protection AND complete control. Connecting multiple myIDkeys together for sharing secure information is simple. Plus, you can easily set your backup settings to sync with our cloud, another cloud service (ie DropBox or Google Drive) or via encryption to your PC, phone or tablet. So in case your myIDkey is ever lost or stolen you can stay protected.
The news is catching on quick. We've only just begun talking publicly about myIDkey and the response has been overwhelming. We're getting product requests from all around the world and have already been recognized by the Consumer Electronics Association with 3 innovation awards.

Risks and challenges
When it comes to new projects and new product builds the availability & supply of electronic components is always top of mind. So we are actively managing the acquisition of off-the-shelf components for our production run so that we can meet the delivery schedule for the myIDkey. Some tactics the team will be using are to pre-order long lead time components on the myIDkey BOM and check day-to-day availability of critical components so that they arrive at our factory in time for the 1st production run. Early ordering from you helps us greatly in this area.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
The myIDkey importer will support the import from a number of password managers, passwords saved in your browser, and the import of a generic CSV file, offering you an easy way to get up and running fast on the myIDkey. We have a list of services and file types to support but tell us which ones you would like to see in the myIDkey importer.
Yes, myIDkey has two buttons to help you navigate up and down through the menus and open keycard entries to see your credentials.
Yes, we deliver to USA and Canada and shipping is included. For International shipments please see the shipping rates on the rewards section. (Note: Our Canadian buyers need to select USA delivery on the payment screen so they are not assessed an international delivery fee)
No. We decided to deliver to USA and Canada and include free shipping. Our Canadian backers need to select USA delivery on the payment screen so they are not assessed an international delivery fee. We will confirm delivery addresses at the end of the campaign to ensure the orders get to the correct place :)
Yes a random number/password generator is included. This is a best practice that helps all of us keep ahead of the hackers.
This feature will not be released on the version1 software release but the lock/unlocking PC or a mobile device feature is on our software roadmap for future releases.
If you lose your device and you have previously sync'd it to your myIDkey cloud account you will be able to sync the data on a new device once it is registered. The myIDkey exporter also supports the export of data so you can back up the data locally.
If your myIDkey is lost or stolen, data will automatically be deleted after a set number of failed attempts to gain access.
The data stored on the myIDkey is encrypted using a AES-256 bit key. The product uses your fingerprint to decode the data. You can also opt to setup a second level of authentication by using a tapping sequence adding another layer of authentication for added security.
Yes. We call these keycards. Each keycard can consist of a url, username, password, and custom fields for items such as passport or social security numbers etc.
We do not currently have the facility to remotely erase the myIDkey. It has been designed to be tamper-proof supporting an auto erase function after a number of unauthorized attempts. The PCB has also been designed to be tamper-proof.
What additional software is needed when using myIDkey to auto-fill usernames & passwords on a computer or a mobile device?
When using a supported browser on a computer (Mac or PC) you will need to install a small browser plug-in. This plug-in helps the device recognize a url and then offers your credentials saved on the device to enable the auto-fill or auto-logon feature. For IOS devices you will use the myIDkey IOS app to auto-fill or auto-logon to your favorite web sites. For Android devices you will use the myIDkey Android app.
The product range will have a 2GB, 8GB and 16GB SKU with an MSRP for the 2GB version of around $149. The 2GB version offered supports in excess of 1000 keycards (credentials)
The dimensions of the key are L 78 mm x W 24 x H 12 mm - For more tech specs please review our web site and see the details on the home page @ http://myidkey.com/
After the campaign finishes and we have received enough support to exceed our funding goal we will send a number of follow-up surveys to our supporters to confirm delivery information , t-shirt sizes, etc.
We have an OPT OUT email that will be queued up after the close of the campaign in addition to several surveys that will be sent advising of the contents of the Sponsor page before it is published. The surveys will be sent after March 22nd with a publication date of the Sponsor page on April 1st 2013.
When we decided to make this product, we were aware of some of the concerns around using biometric fingerprints to unlock access to secure data. We spent a lot of time on the security architecture, and included a second level of authentication, which we call Tap Sequence. We added this feature for the very security conscious user. Think of the Tap Sequence as (an optional) combo lock code you can utilize after you have used your finger-swipe to authenticate the key.
We will have distribution partners that will offer a range of accessories for the myIDkey device. We spend a lot of time with our designers and the mechanical engineering team on the best way to protect the device, not materially increase the size or weight, not create a weakness in the design but have a sleeve that protects the fingerprint reader and locks into place. We toyed with idea of hinged covers (sleeves). After some research and practical experience from our Contact Manufacturer we decided to offer an accessory that locked into place via the USB interface, was light-weight but offered maximum protection of the unit.
Initially myIDKey will support the Mac OS X and the Windows family. It will work with most modern internet browsers such as Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and IE. We plan to add Linux support after launch, in future software releases.
myIDKey will support iOS and Android devices out of the gate. We will add Blackberry and Windows Phone 8 support in future software releases, after launch.
Windows RT and other Mobile OS's, not listed above, will be evaluated for consideration as part of the product road map reviews.
We're very interested in providing extra layers of security to our customers with myIDkey. We're looking into support for OATH TOTP and HTOP protocols, and are continuously researching available authentication methodologies. Stay tuned at www.myidkey.com, we will provide more info as we move further into the product development cycle and continue to evaluate and test fit with myIDkey.
When we decided to make this product, we wanted myIDkey to be very secure and extremely difficult to breach. That is why added another layer of authentication, in addition your fingerprint. We included the Tap Sequence feature, as a secondary level of authentication.
Here's how the Tap Sequence works - think of it as a 6 digit combo lock. The Tap sequence is optional, the user will have to enable it first, and create a PIN Code. After the PIN code is setup, follow these steps to unlock your myIDkey:
1. Authenticate with your fingerprint on your myIDkey
2. On the next screen, it will ask you to enter your Tap Sequence 6 digits PIN code: (say your PIN is "A1B2C3) 3. For each digit, use the Up and Down buttons to pick from (0-9, A-F)
4. To move back and forth between digit locations, press and hold Up or Down for 1 sec.
5. Once you finish entering your PIN code, press and hold the Down button for 3 secs to authenticate and unlock access to your device.
The expected retail price for the myIDkey 2GB will be $149. Accessories such as sleeves will retail for $9.99 - $14.99. Standard (free) and Premium Cloud services will also be available to users.
No, for security reasons, myIDkey will only pair with mobile devices or computers.
Bluetooth securely pairs and connects myIDkey to a smartphone, or a tablet for authenticating the user to access the myIDkey app on the mobile device. Bluetooth is also used to sync keycards data between myIDkey and the connected mobile device. On a Bluetooth enabled computer, it allows a user to access, and manage all his/her stored keycards data, and to use the full functionality of the myIDkey product similar to the USB connection, and the transfer rate via Bluetooth is slower vs. a USB connection.
On average our target battery life is 7 days in standby mode. As a best practice we recommend charging the device each week. Once the device is plugged into a USB port it will start charging. The battery has a 500 Cycle Life rating, with and expected functional life of about 8-9 years, based on operation under nominal conditions and normal usage.
No, myIDkey data is written and stored to NAND flash, similar to a USB flash drive, and it does not require power to retain the stored data. The data is available as soon as you charge your device battery.
Due to security concerns around access to stored data on the device, we felt a removable microSD would be a potential security hole.
It is very reliable, the fingerprint sensor used in the myIDkey, uses proprietary fingerprint imaging technology and pattern-based matching algorithms to deliver the industry’s best solution. Ability-To-Enroll (ATE), lowest False Rejection Rate (FRR), and lowest False Acceptance Rate (FAR). It provides unparalleled accuracy and gives the sensor industry leading biometric performance.
Will there be any monthly or yearly fees to use the backup cloud service or any other features of myIDkey?
Our backup cloud service has key standard features that are part of your purchase. We will offer optional premium services that are fee based. Other features of the myIDkey will not have monthly or yearly fees.
Yes, all encrypted data can only be accessed with fingerprint authentication. Backup files don't require use of fingerprint, in case the device is lost or damaged.
Very secure, we have a hosted website on a leading cloud provider (like AWS, Joyent, etc.). In addition we will implement best practices to secure our hosted website.
Our first version for voice search will be English language based. We will be adding additional languages in future versions releases.
Yes, you can have more than one person using one myIDkey device. The primary user can set access rights for secondary users for that one device.
We will send you an email survey to request any info we need to deliver your reward, such as your mailing address or other details. We will be sending an email Survey in early April after the campaign closes (March 22).
No, myIDkey is USB 2.0. At this point, there are no ARM processors, for the myIDkey embedded low power segment, that have native USB3.0 support. USB3.0 requires a fair bit more than just substituting a few components, there's a board size and battery life penalty, and it's quite a bit more expensive than USB 2.0. We will evaluate USB3.0 technology for myIDkey when it becomes feasible to implement.
