My Gay Roommate follows the relationship between two roommates - one who is gay and one who is straight. The show is (kind of) loosely based off the experiences of its two creators - Noam Ash and Austin Bening. Our team feels that this is a unique relationship that hasn't been explored much in the media, and we love bringing it to life on YouTube!
So far we have three episodes out, and the response has been overwhelming - we've been featured on Queerty, Homorazzi, Boy Culture, and ManHunt Daily, and have over 115,000 total views! Yay! You can check us out at: http://www.YouTube.com/user/mygayroommate
We are currently developing episode five, which is going to be a super cool music video of an original song called Hard Candy written by the amazing composer-lyricist team Carner & Gregor with sick club beats created by DJ THE WIG and fabulous choreography by Chris Fox!
Check out Carner & Gregor's work on their YouTube Channel here: http://www.youtube.com/user/carnerandgregor
And some of THE WIG's work at http://thewigmusic.com/.
The basic concept of the song is that Nick is explaining to James how Grindr works, and how he meets guys on it - all through hilarious candy imagery. The song is funny, sexy, and imaginative, as is the incredible music video we have planned for it!
Risks and challenges
Like in any other project, there are risks involved. This is the most complex video project for our series yet; editing might take longer than expected or we might run into unforeseeable technical difficulties. In addition, this project relies on the participation of a large cast of performers, so there are always unknown factors that come with a large team.
However, the material for this music video is already created, and the project mostly cast. We are ready to go on all fronts, schedule in place, and highly skilled and dedicated teams ready to roll!
We just need some help to fund our venue, props, and the miscellaneous labor necessary. Thank you!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
