Exclusive interview, Physical rewards update, and more!

Posted by The Muv-Luv Team (Creator)

Hi everyone,

We had an interview last month with! Thanks to Executive News Editor Giuseppe Nelva for not only publishing Muv-Luv related articles regularly, but also coming all the way to our headquarters in Akihabara Tokyo, Japan to interview Yoshimune-san!

Subtitles are available in English. Just turn on Closed Caption (CC) on the lower-right menu.

Steam Trading Cards confirmed!

With the help of Sekai Project, we'll be rolling out Steam trading cards for both games in the near future. Please look forward to it!

Community Forums is back online

It's been a while, but we're happy to say that is back! The forum is open to everyone, and the discussions aren't limited to Muv-Luv, but also other games in the franchise like Schwarzesmarken, Muv-Luv Alternative Total Eclipse, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien (Rumbling Hearts), and more! Other non-related games can be discussed, but please keep it under a single thread and in the off-topic section.

Physical rewards update

  • The production of PS Vita copies by PQube have been going smoothly. They made sure everything's covered for us and in compliance with the respective countries’ laws and rating requirements. This also means digital copies are on the way too!
  • We're also about to start printing the CODEX; we're at the final approval stage of the proofs, same goes with the collector's boxes.

We highly advise everyone once again to double check your shipping address.

Anime Central fan panel

Anime Central in Chicago will be hosting another Muv-Luv fan panel this year. Discussing the franchise will be @invalidname (who wrote the Muv-Luv feature article on Anime News Nework last year), @dexomega (who's written about Muv-Luv frequently on AniTAY), and @discaliber (the guy inside those incredible TSF cosplays). The schedule is not final, but the Muv-Luv panel is tentatively scheduled for 5PM on Saturday, May 19. We'll keep you posted about this on Facebook and Twitter!

A few more updates!

  • We've decided to cut down the Director's Cut patch cost to $4.99 permanently. Thanks for all the honest feedback about the patch, and we think it is for the best to not only reduce the main game's price, but the patch as well so more people can enjoy both versions of the game.
  • Sekai Project is currently working on the 3rd-party website AppID solution, and it's looking great! They're doing everything they can to resolve this issue for non-backers, and they're quite happy to say we can expect them to finish within the next few weeks.

I'd really like for a survey to be sent asking us which Region we want for the PS Vita version (for both digital and retail copies).

It is said in the FAQ that a survey will be sent at the end of the KS campaign and let us choose which region we want for Vita but unless I'm forgetting things, I don't remember answering a question concerning region for the Vita copies.

(Sorry if this was actually asked and I remember things wrong)

Now I just need my figma 😅

@Cerzel I personally think the one patch was released in an unaltered state and as Ixtl took over it resulted in one patch simply being released to the backers. But yes the idea of slapping a hefty price on a patch is an odd one it more discourages purchases as opposed to encourage which leads me to believe it's a temporary measure.

I still recall the promise of new cg's but that could be interpreted as new for us.

    4. Storm Vanguard on

@Playcool92 ...Oh!.. Kouki wasn't kidding when he said they were gonna focus mainly on localization. Well.. "It's a good day to die."…

My attitude doesn't change much however except I will stress when it comes to localization and visual novels most companies have a sloppy history and it would be nice to see a relationship between the fans and the muv-luv team that isn't just blind faith.

But little things like this where you make us feel closer to the creator certainly helps.

Let me be the first to ask how we might actually support the idea of submitting our own Muv-Luv stories because I personally support and love the idea.

    5. Playcool92 on

@Storm Vanguard, what are you saying, SP is not in charge of the project, Degica passed the baton to ML series main parent company,
SK only helped with the relaunch of games on steam.

    6. Storm Vanguard on

Suffering is completely normal for this fanbase personally i'm just glad we had the opportunity to get Muv-Luv to the public. However I can't say I will be backing another kickstarter but I would immediately purchase in support any future releases that goes for Strike Frontier as well. From now on you should take a risk and rely on sales. Personally I would like to see high numbers on steam which the community should have participated in at least logging in on release there really is no excuse even if we don't have a patch yet.

While Degica and transfering over to Sekai Project halted progress SP also has a track record for slow releases I personally wouldn't shun the idea of a KS but after a 1.2 million record I would recommend giving back to the fans such as a translation of Total Eclipse and Schwarzesmarken before thinking of it.

Regardless I will forever support Muv-Luv not only with my wallet but with words I hope for the future you remember you have fans like us.

I feel Age has always giving to the fans and not abused them as well as respect them and rely on them while they take risks for creative interest. I have full respect for this kind of business practice.

In the beginning I felt the Muv-Luv team was very much the same kind of love Age shows their fans. I personally think with the joining of avex and ixtl and with Muv-Luv now being handled by sekai project the future could potentially look up.

However I think SP needs to realize they are now in control of a kickstarter that was funded 1.2 million and they need to make professional risks as a power house in visual novel localizations and not squander and make poor business decisions like electronic arts.
We are now in a position Muv-Luv could sink or swim like bioware and mass effect or bungie and Destiny and presently we're your only allies.

And to play devils advocate here I have a reason to believe we're part of the reason for the dely and the switch over to sekai project.

Regardless it's good the dream is still alive.

    7. Bloodi on

I second Martin Roberts, on that I would love to see an official English release for Kimi ga Nozomu Eien.

Anyway, thankyou so much for the update

    8. Silentwatcher on

Right, just give me my stuff asap so I can stay off of kickstarter for the rest of my life. Please.

    9. Gunlord500 on

      Well, at least you guys aren't dead...:D;;

    10. Cerzel on

Here's a better idea: Make the uncensor patches free, because no one should have to pay extra to experience the games the way they were intended, and the idea of paying for uncensor patches at all is one of the worst things to happen to the visual novel industry.

    11. Yanka on

Thanks for those news, it answered my questions regarding Vita games.
Updated my address as well, good reminder!

    12. Joe Tang on

Will European backers receive EU physical Vita copies?

    13. Theodore Ward on

With me if they have another Kickstarter project I probably won't back or if I do it will be a much lower tier than what I did this time plus I have lost my faith in the group

Like Mr. Martin Roberts, commented above, I am waiting for the director's cut patch for the new versions of Alternative. My save files cannot be loaded because the versions do not match, which means I have stopped playing the game while I am waiting for the patch!!!

Guys please, get you act together and recompile that patch !!!

I am still eagerly waiting for my physical rewards as well... BTW, given a recent experience with another Kickstarter project, I am wondering if we can opt for express shipping.

    15. Fried on

Alternative came out in August and 8 months later we still have not got the director's cut patch, we haven't even been told when to expect it, yet the one for Muv Luv came out 4 months after Muv Luv was released, so if we can get news on that.

And with the talk of the Codex and Collectors boxes about to go into print, maybe this means we'll get the physical rewards before the end of the year, but I'm not about to start getting excited for that, I'll believe it once I actually get the rewards through the post.
I think a lot of people lost faith a long time ago, and only when we get our rewards will some of that faith be restored, but even then, if there was ever another kickstarter, I seriously doubt it would get the kind of response this one did, and I personally would think twice about either backing it, or going for a high level reward tier again.

Now while I hope you guys do go and release more of the back titles in the future, Schwarzesmarken and Total Eclipse are pretty much guaranteed to be successful releases, I hope we'd get releases like Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, Akane Maniax and Kimi ga Ita Kisetsu.

    16. Randomacts on

Good to see that you guys aren't dead. I'm sure that more and more people are losing faith the more often we go long periods of time without updates.
