PS Vita data QA complete, Muv-Luv Relaunching on Steam this February!

Hello everyone,

We sincerely apologize for the delays. We were supposed to publish this update a lot earlier, but we encountered unexpected difficulties along the way.

Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative will be relaunched as new AppIDs

We’ll have to recreate the games’ store pages using new AppIDs, since it’s not part of Degica’s SOP to transfer their published games to the respective owners after a contract has expired. As a result, we’ll be relaunching Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative this February on our own, or possibly with the help of another publisher to speed up the process. We’re really sorry about this, but rest assured it will be sorted out by our team ASAP.

For Backers - we as ixtl will be providing the new Steam keys to backers through BackerKit. The new versions will have new Steam cards and wallpapers.

For Non-Backers - If you bought the game(s) on Steam but haven’t installed it yet, please contact Degica’s customer support at https://degica.com/contact.html for further assistance regarding the original versions.

Muv-Luv Playstation Vita Physical Production Update

Great news! The PS Vita game data for Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative are perfectly running! We're very, very close to the production of physical Vita cartridges! We're really excited to share more about it in the coming updates. Please look forward to it!

Photonflowers Development officially commenced!

We’re also very happy to announce that the translation team have finished their transition to ixtl, so they’re now official English translators for our games. They’ll be working on "photonflowers*" for the first few months of 2018. We’ll be sure to keep everyone posted about our progress!

Sincere Regards,

Tanaka@The Muv-Luv Team

      hey guys i just saw this notice about getting a new version of muv-luv,,, im just curious has to how this will be done / when it will be done ?...

      as im a KS backer for the game (pleged for the trilogy steam version),,, altho far as i can tell i've not received anything in my KS inbox or email inbox regarding anything to do with this, the steam version or anything to do with a backerkit :S

    4. Daniel Núñez on

      Thanks.

      I mentioned the patch option for the Photon so when you work on those at least leave that option open for the future.

    5. Patrick J. Miller on

      Sorry I need to amend my comment. I don't have muv-luv/extra unlimited installed so I can't find it on steam anywhere.

    6. Patrick J. Miller on

      i haven't received any of the physical releases also I don't remember if all backers are receiving photonflowers and photonmelodies. And I don't see Muv-luv or Muv-luv alternative in the steam store at all. I've already installed the game. But none of your games are in the steam store anymore.

      About our previous comment:

      Regarding the game update - we apologize if we gave the impression that Degica delayed the update, the transition was ongoing and we have no choice but to focus on taking over the management first before updating the games.

      The transition has just recently finished, and we’re still ironing out the order of things. Rest assured that this won’t ever happen again in the future.

      We also apologize to Degica and their staff members for the inconveniences we have caused, and for the misconstrued comment in the previous post. It is not mandatory for publishers to transfer their AppIDs to the owners, it was a misunderstanding on our end on how things should be done.

      We still hope to retain our relationship with them, as they're the ones who helped made the Kickstarter campaign really successful.

      Again, if you have any inquiries about your BackerKit account, change of address, and anything concerning your Muv-Luv pledges, just email us at tanaka@ixtl.jp.

      Is there any plans for Extra/Unlimited to have an actual uncensor patch or will there only be the current restoration patch that uses 15 year old censored art assets? Will Alternative be getting an uncensor patch or another content restoration patch using the old art assets from the ~12 years old release?
      What was your reasoning for releasing a mosaic'd version over an uncensored version when you're legally allowed to have uncensored content over here in the west? Were the original assets destroyed and you guys didn't want to pay someone to decensor them?

    10. The Muv-Luv Team Creator on

      Before anything else - we really wanted the original AppIDs as much as possible, Steam provided a proper transfer tool for Degica to use, but they refused to use it and they just simply removed the games when the contract expired.

      This was the totally unexpected bit, considering they transferred everything else to us without problems. So we aren't sure anymore about a better solution other than to relaunch the games in any way, as fast as possible for the sake of the backers and Steam users.

      @Daniel
      "-Will saved games and achievements be lost? Same for reviews for the games, I guess."
      The reviews and community interactions will no longer be seen in public, they're only accessible here:
      http://steamcommunity.com/app/449830/discussions/ and here http://steamcommunity.com/app/449840/discussions/
      Achievements and Saves won't be affected so long as the game configurations on Steamworks are left untouched by Degica.

      "-In the forums on steam and the community there are some reports of some problems, mostly a few small translation problems (like 1000 instead of 100). When are you going to fix those? (I guess, again, is has to be before the physical release)"
      The issues were already fixed for quite some time by the translation team, but we weren't able to do an update on Steam because it is under Degica's control, even up to now.

      -photonflowers and photonmelodies
      We promised photonflowers and photonmelodies all-ages console edition. We can't say anything regarding 18+ contents here on Kickstarter due to their policy. Another Director's Cut is a possible discussion in the future, but no promises just yet.

      @Andrew
      Yes, we'll have more news about them in the next update.

      @Theodore
      PS Vita Digital is arriving really soon, and it's really possible for it to be released earlier than the physical.

      @John
      If the patch doesn't work on the new version, we just have to make a new one and replace the old patch in BackerKit. Steam users will just have to recheck again their purchase in Denpasoft as they'll be provided with an updated copy too.

      @Natchapol
      Yes, we are producing extra amount of units, although they'll be limited. So first come first serve upon its release.

      @FlamingFirewire
      Photons side stories are digital only, as was promised in the Kickstarter.

      Came here to ask a few questions and see Daniel Núñez has beaten me to it, so I'll just echo his request. Answers to his q's would be good!

      Kevin on

      Any estimated release for the physical PC box and other extras?

    13. Adam on

      Thanks for the vita update. Any chance the digital copies of the vita will be coming sooner than Physical?

    14. Daniel Núñez on

      I guess would be better for you to publish the games, thinking in long-term support.
      Now, a few questions:

      -Will saved games and achievements be lost? Same for reviews for the games, I guess.

      -In the forums on steam and the community there are some reports of some problems, mostly a few small translation problems (like 1000 instead of 100). When are you going to fix those? (I guess, again, is has to be before the physical release)

      -Will the existing R18 for Muv-Luv Extra and Unlimited will be compatible with the new release? (I guess than Alternative’s patch will come after this)

      -Now you mention photonflowers*, this means you will first work on it and later on photonmelodies♮?

      -In addition, for photonmelodies♮, just a small question about “Before the Shimmering Time Ends”. This was not offered before, and I know you have no obligation to do this, but photonmelodies♮ contains the all ages version, is not possible to get translated the version that came with Altered Fable (this one is R18)?

      Still, I really hope for new projects. There is a lot of untranslated content and side stories that I think many of us would be willing to support.

      Thanks for the update.

    15. Andrew C on

      Any word for the backers of the Ltd editions on PC, or who backed for other rewards such as the models?

    16. Chris Adamson on

      @FaceEater MK II: “SOP” = “standard operating policy”, I believe.

    17. Playcool92 on

      So if I tried to play the MLA version I still have from last year, it woudnt work? What about the saves?

    18. FaceEater MK II on

      What does SOP stand for?

      >possibly with the help of another publisher to speed up the process.
      not Shit Project again....

    19. Theodore Ward on

      i have a question what about the digital version of the vita games are we still going to get them and when are we going to get them because i am really hoping to play muv-luv on my vita soon

    20. John on

      I am confused, the games have been taken down and now they are going back up with different cards? Will the uncut patch work on this version?

    21. Missing avatar

      Shachihoko on

      Kind of ironic for me to be asking this, but I presume re-launching the games under new app IDs on Steam also means that any achievements we'd unlocked will need to be unlocked again?

      Not that I've gotten very far ... really looking forward to getting the games physically, since that means I won't HAVE to go through Steam to play them.

      Thank you for keeping us in the loop! I hope things keep going more or less smoothly.

      Any chance for non backers to purchase vita physical copy?

    23. FlamingFirewire on

      Really glad everything seems to be steaming along on finalizing all versions of the MuvLuv Trilogy! Hopefully we see everything come together and see everything get fully released by the end of the year.

      Also, will the side stories games be released with the physical sets, or are those purely digital only?
