Muv-Luv Alternative Trailer

Posted by The Muv-Luv Team (Creator)
Hi everyone,

We deeply apologize for the very, very late update. We're aware it's been three months since the last one, and we assure you that we've been working hard on the translation and physical rewards production as always. We barely had anything to share before, but we promise to update monthly once again from here onward :)

Muv-Luv Alternative is coming soon on Steam!

It's only a matter of time before the game's release, and here's a special trailer for everyone to enjoy. We hope you like it!

Disclaimer: The trailer contains alpha footage, and none of the text was shown due to encoding errors.

Song Title - "We Roar for Tomorrow"  (未来への咆哮)
Singer - JAM Project
Arrangement - Sudou Kenichi
Original lyrics and composition - Kageyama Hironobu
Translated lyrics - Evan Ward

Rise up and fight, bathed in heavenly light, chosen warrior - hear us, and answer our plight!

With wings of resolve burning infinitely bright, let their span block out the sun as you take flight

A new age of darkness and torment looms; distant bells herald our impending doom

O comrade-in-arms, do not wait with bated breath; stamp out your fear of death

Cast red in the light of the setting sun are the ruins of towns that have been overrun

To take back the planet you once knew and loved you must rise above

Oh, let them feel the blade of god, the love of all mankind

Know that our prayers will be with you; may you strike true

Rise up and fight, bathed in heavenly light, chosen warrior - hear us, and answer our plight!

Even if they try to break you, you must find the strength to pull through

Think of the lives that have been sacrificed, the brave heroes who have paid the ultimate price

Remember their deeds and engrave them in your heart, let their names echo through time and forever

Muv-Luv is available in simplified Chinese!

We are pleased to announce that Muv-Luv (Extra and Unlimited) is available to all Steam users in simplified Chinese.

Current owners will be able to select simplified Chinese by changing the language in the game’s properties in their Steam libraries.

Muv-Luv Alternative will also support English, Japanese, and simplified Chinese once it's released.

WARNING: Simplified Chinese version is not compatible with the Director's Cut patch, and switching to it will reset to the Steam version.

PS Vita Status

We also apologize for the lack of news on the PS Vita front.

After the release of the first Muv-Luv game, developer resources were shifted to the PS Vita port. While we were working on the Muv-Luv PS Vita release, Muv-Luv Alternative’s PC development demanded more attention from the developers than expected. Doing the PC and PS Vita port simultaneously means the team will struggle with fixing bugs back and forth between two entirely different platforms.

In order to bring you a high quality product, we decided to prioritize the PC release of Muv-Luv Alternative. This will allow the developers to give their full attention to both Vita ports, ensuring their release meets with our quality standards.. It is also in our best interest to bring your physical rewards to your doorsteps as soon as possible, and we assure everyone that this is the fastest route possible.

There's still progress being made!

While waiting for Muv-Luv Alternative PC’s completion, we have been looking into getting the full trilogy's ratings approved by Sony Europe as well! Thanks to all of those who made the request in the previous update, users around the world will have easier access upon the trilogy's release!

That's all for this month’s update. If you have any questions, just send us an email at
We'll be responding to all personal BackerKit link requests by next Monday.

      Andrew on

I'm disappointed with the speed of these updates and how my backing is going to go mostly to waste. I regret doing this.

This is because I'm not backing more games on Kickstarter. Delays, cancellations. I remember in the campaign I posted a comment about my lack of trust in this game developers about Vita release when Sekai Project have +2 years old delay in those ports, and I had plenty of replies about trustworthy you are. Almost one year from original release date, we have this update where basically you are telling us, you stopped the port.

When Sony tells in this E3 or some later about Vita stops production, many Kickstarter developers will be pretty happy, a good excuse to trick plenty of money from Vita backers.

Holyfuckinghell I can't wait to have the codex >.< ! GIVE MEEEE!

    4. Andrew Huang, hunting PIN-UP monster

I begin to seriously wonder if my vita can survive until the arrival of the game. And my sweet jacket, see you next year....

The delays on the Vita version are annoying, but there's one thing specifically that I think is probably one of the major reasons why they want to hammer all the bugs out first. Namely, that while you can put an update out for free on Steam, you have to pay to update a PlayStation game. I can totally understand why they'd want to avoid having to patch multiple times if they can, because it would be a waste of money.

    6. Marcop on

i can see the next update... "we are sorry for the delay (again) for the 99999 time, we where busy preparing for anime expo 2017, 2018 and 2019, also the painter of the figma figures is on vacation and we can't do nothing about it, also check this pictures and choose the one you like because moe, hopefully you will have your goods in 2020 if north korea doesn't nuke japan first, last but no least next time check very carefully who are you backing up... noob"

    7. Richard J. on

@ Shay: Vita backer here and I agree. I appreciate Quality. As long as it isn't cancelled, I can wait a bit.

    8. YumeriaYumi

Any info about the jackets? I really want to get mine.

    9. Chris Adamson on

No word yet on AX plans?

I am not in hurry to have my PS Vita version.

PC version can be more easily fixed the PS Vita one. Basically lets the PC backers uncovering the last bugs so the physical Vita version will be the most bug free possible.

I understand the frustration of the Vita backers, but... I must say that the quality of the product should certainly come before the time of release, and if the team truly believes that this is the right choice to make to ensure a high-quality product then this is certainly the best route to take.

As for the update itself - might be because I'm a PC backer, but... this progress seems amazing to me and I'm really happy!

    12. Ray "AcroRay" Miller on

Considering how long the wait was for the original Alternative's release, this isn't too bad! :-D

    13. Adam on

Hey vita backers, you waited months for imminent news that we don't care about you and you gotta wait even longer! Yay! And not even a word on when we might expect something for vita. 'Cause let's face it, pc version, then patch, then dc patch, then start on vita. This kickstarter began so well too...

    14. Brabeus Rapier on

I regrete not buying the physical CODEX and i'm sad for the delay of the Vita.

    15. Liam on

3 months of nothing only to get a "big" update that's also nothing.

    16. Conor Rono Patrick on

The only thing "Big" about this update is how hard the vita backers got shafted.

Basically just got told we're less important than all the other backers.

      Really regret backing this.

    17. Michael Abraham Dy on

Well an update is an update underwhelming it may be :|

    18. Raithos on

Extremely disappointing news on the Vita versions to say the least.

    19. Ray "AcroRay" Miller on

@Radosław Wójciak - It is about 18cm tall to the shoulder. A bit taller to the weapons in the Mount Pylons. This is the Kotobukiya "Non-Scale" kit. Larger than Revoltech, or Volks A3, or Kotobukiya 1/144.

    20. Kinguarcher on

At this rate we're not going to receive our physical vita editions until 2018 lmao. Pretty lame.

    21. Radosław Wójciak on

      Dimensions of Takemikazuchi?

    22. Michael Kennedy on

Horay for MLA Steam release! Will the Director's Cut content/patch release simultaneously or will it release at a later time like with Muv-Luv Unlimited/Extra?
