"A film so scary... a story so horrifying... it was never made!"
My name is Gerardo Preciado, I'm a musician from northern México and I run a one man record label called Musike Di Diable which features my now defunct one man band The Atlantas, a one man guitar and drums duo called Ambidextroux, and Ancient Order of the Droids, an instrumental electronic duo (and you guessed it, also myself) to create a sort of imaginary universe with an alternate music history where these artists exist and even collaborate with each other. It doesn't get any more DIY than this!
A couple of years ago I decided that rather than waiting for someone to make my dream of scoring a film come true, I would do it myself by scoring a series of imaginary films called 'Terrore!' inspired by the 80's slasher horror I watched as a kid (Halloween, Friday the 13th) and the 70's italian giallos I discovered in my teens (Suspiria, The Beyond); so, paying tribute to Argento, Fulci (and many others) but mainly, the synth heaven music of master John Carpenter, I created an italian film franchise starring cult hero slasher Il Maniaco.
"Hitting the nail on the head, the soundtrack sounds like a cross between Goblin’s Suspiria and John Carpenter’s Halloween." - BROKE HORROR FAN
Several years later, the sequels have kept the franchise alive, and this september we've just released the fifth entry in the series with 'Terrore! V: La Tomba del Maniaco' and 'Deep Cuts: Musike Di Filme 1979-1985' which includes themes from several 80's genre films (imagine italian rip offs to Escape from New York, Big Trouble in Little China, etc), a sort of 'best of' compilation of music to unexisting films.
"Atmospheric, melodic, and reminds you a lot of what a good soundtrack to an Italian horror movie should be" - HORROR SOCIETY
I keep talking about unexisting, imaginary films, but you know what? scratch that, these films DO EXIST, even if it is in an alternate (an cooler) universe, and there is a way to bring them to this reality, together we can open a portal a summon this soundtrack to our physical dimension!
Which is why I need you guys, the weirdos, my fellow freaks, the ones who collect VHS tapes of obscure low budget horror flicks (the trashier the better), this my friends, could very well be the rarest item in your collection!
"The perfect dose of synthesized madness associated with slasher films"
- MÓRBIDO FEST
So, without further ado, I give you TERRORE! DIRECTOR'S CUT the remastered vinyl soundtrack to "A film so scary... a story so horrifying... it was never made!"
You can stream the full (un-remastered) album below:
and 'Deep Cuts: Musike Di Filme 1979-1985' which will be part of the rewards as well:
Years ago, when I first released the Terrore! original soundtrack, I didn't had any money (I still don't) so I had to master it myself (I wasn't kidding when I said this is a one man record label, you should see how ugly the secretary is, hint: it's me!), but most importatly than that, we just couldn't afford to press it on vinyl, which is the ultimate dream, to actually hold in our hands a physical copy of the soundtrack!
Recently I discovered a company that can manufacture a very low run of vinyl records, these would be lathe cut, 10 inch black vinyl records with a fold over jackets inside a plastic sleeve. As I said before, this is to be a very limited run, of maybe 20-50 records, or if we get really lucky, 200-300, which would enable me to not only to actually press the records, but maybe fabricate them in neon pink color, and basically upgrade the quality of the records and packaging in any way I can.
Vinyl record collectors know that the artwork is of supreme importance, the cover art for TERRORE! DIRECTOR'S CUT was made by renowed comic book artist and long time friend (and collaborator) Daniel Bayliss (Big Trouble in Little China vs Escape from New York, Laberynth, Batman: The Deal). Personally I think he did a fantastic job, heck, even if you dislike the music, the album cover alone is worth owning the damned thing!
There are several rewards you can get, there is the vinyl record of course, but did I mention that you could have your name on the album credits on the back cover? I think that's pretty cool!, all records will come signed and numbered by yours truly at no additional cost (why would I charge you for that? you're my friend! also, I'm nobody). There's also a pretty rad t-shirt, mp3s and a limited run of pins!
Where will the money go?
Well, that's very easy to answer, aside from the cost of remastering the album, all the money will go to the manufacture of the rewards, I'm really not making money off this, actually I may end up losing a bit, but hey, that's not your problemo!
Lastly, if you are unable to contribute please share with your friends, specially the weirder ones, hipsters are ok too (they might find this ironically cool), hell, I'll even take money from millenials!
Thank you so much for taking your time to read (and hopefully listen to) this. See you on the other side, brother!
STRETCH GOAL UNLOCKED!
I'm so thankful to you guys for making this project happen, I've added a Tote Bag to the Deluxe Bundle, so if you guys ordered one its going to look something like this...
Also, ALL vinyl records will come signed not only by me (who cares?) but by cover artist extraordinaire (and friend) DANIEL BAYLISS!, pretty cool, huh?
Risks and challenges
The music is done and there will be such a short run of records that I can't see a problem coming up and if it does.I promise I'll find a way to make it work!.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
