Hi, we’re Kay and Joseph Barker and we’re the founders of Musicologie. Since 2014, Musicologie has taught nearly one thousand students how to sing or play an instrument at our Grandview teaching studio.
Have you ever wanted to play an instrument? Or maybe you played when you were younger and would love to brush up your chops. Either way, learning an instrument is a huge challenge. It’s vital to have a community of knowledgeable people around you cheering your progress and pushing you forward when you feel stuck.
That’s what we do. We believe that private, in-person lessons are the best way to learn, and we’ve been proving it every day in our Grandview studio. Now, as that studio fills up, we're bringing a brand new music learning space to Westerville.
As a special deal for our Kickstarter backers we’re offering a six month Musicologie Membership for a $400 pledge - that’s more than 50% off!
We are building a music adventure space at the Windsor Bay Center in Westerville. It will have five soundproof practice rooms and a large classroom for group classes and rock band rehearsals that doubles as a two room recording studio. We’ll have state-of-the-art instruments and equipment in all the rooms for students to use, including upright and grand pianos, drums, guitars, and a huge stack of amps!
Your pledge will go toward making this space a reality. We've already begun to build and while $10,000 is only the tip of the iceberg, it will help us get to the finish line. Most importantly, it will help us get a brand new grand piano!
Here's what the space will look like:
We have something for every age group and ability level:
For toddlers and pre-schoolers: Musicologie Junior, a weekly 40 minute parent-child play-based musical exploration designed to prepare kids for private lessons by introducing ear training, rhythms, and instruments like guitar, piano, violin and drums.
For early elementary kids: Instrument-focused, child-guided private lessons. These lessons cover the basics of music while focusing on one instrument, but are flexible and exploratory, using games and curriculum based on a child’s interests and needs.
For elementary and middle school kids: Performance-focused private lessons. Students will become proficient through a combination of private lessons, group classes and annual concerts.
For high schoolers: Preparation for college or a music career. One of our master teachers who have been through auditions and performed professionally will guide students to their goals.
For adults: You don’t have to be a kid to start learning an instrument! We love adult students who are just starting out, and have group classes, ensembles and rock band programs so adults can start playing with their peers right away. Many of our adult students have played or sung in the past and are brushing up for auditions at local theaters or ensembles.
What do you get as a Musicologie Member? We have a unique program that includes so much more than just traditional one-on-one lessons. As a Musicologie Member, you get:
All of this is included in your membership - no extra fees or strings attached!
Thanks for your support! Any pledge is welcome, big or small.
