Ever go hiking and come across the most perfect rolling hill and wonder what it would be like to bring your own snowboard? Well, we tried that and as we suspected, it wasn’t ideal.
Now, imagine being equipped with the most lightweight and versatile bindingless snowboard that allows you to go from walking to riding seamlessly. Winter hiking trails just became your endless opportunity to ride.
We believe hiking trails are vastly underutilized places where people can find some snowboarding bliss! The trailboard is designed to handle the wide variety of conditions you encounter on trails while being super portable, something important for all hiking gear.
AS SEEN ON:
COMPLETE CONTROL WITHOUT BINDINGS
Why bindingless? We wanted a board that made it easy to go from walking to riding so that every hill is worth it, no matter how small.
- Carve in Packed Trails - By making the base narrower than your feet, you have heel and toe leverage to control the edges, allowing you to turn and stop just like a standard snowboard.
- Float on Powder - The contoured bottom adds surface area and deflects snow outward allowing it to float like a much bigger board so you can surf over deep powder.
- Ride Anywhere in Comfort - A top layer of foam keeps your feet from slipping and centered on the board. You can also wear your most comfortable winter boots you’re used to hiking in.
HEEL AND TOE LEVERAGE WITH ANY FOOTWEAR
KICK-TAIL FOR ADDED MANEUVERABILITY
DESIGNED FOR MAXIMUM PORTABILITY
The trailboard weighs 5 pounds - less than half the weight of the average snowboard and bindings. This makes a huge difference when bringing it to places outside the resorts. The trailboard will get you walking to riding without missing a step.
Length: 114 cm
Width: 28 cm
Depth: 6.4 cm
ENGINEERED FOR PERFORMANCE
We took what works from high quality snowboards and implemented those manufacturing strategies and materials into the trailboard.
THE PROBLEM WITH SNOWBOARDING
With rising ticket costs and increasingly unpredictable climate, it’s no wonder that the average snowboarder or skier only hits the slopes 6 times per season.
Our goal is to get you riding again.
You’ll no longer think “too expensive,” “too far,” or “too inconvenient.” With the trailboard, you're in control of where and when you snowboard.
WHERE CAN I TRAILBOARD?
Try backyards, sledding hills, state parks, nordic centers, snowshoe trails, and hiking trails. Anywhere with snow and change in elevation will work! Many ski resorts will allow trailboards as long as you wear the leash, but always check with the resort first.
HIKING JUST GOT BETTER
Your favorite hikes in the summer might also become your favorite spots for trailboarding in the winter.
We designed the trailboard to be a vehicle that elevates your hiking experience. When you come up to that perfect hill or those mellow runs, just drop your trailboard and ride down. Trailboarding saves you time, energy, and it's just a whole lot of fun!
Mundo Trailboards is bringing simplicity and adventure back to the sport of snowboarding. So get outside and explore!
NEVER SNOWBOARDED BEFORE? NO PROBLEM.
No matter your skill level or experience, the trailboard has something to offer.
Turning, slowing down, and coming to a full stop will take practice if you’re new to snowboarding, but it’s easier to learn on a trailboard because you’re not bound to the board. It’s as easy as stepping on and stepping off.
- Feeling wobbly riding down? Simply step off the board. The trailboard includes a leash that can attach to your wrist, ankle, or belt that keeps the board from getting too far away.
- Does the hill that you just came across look a little too scary for your skills? Simply walk down the trail.
Every trail is different, so we highly recommend wearing a helmet and using other safety gear while trailboarding. Stay on the trail, know your limits, and use common sense! If you're not sure, don't risk it.
COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY
We care for our planet. We know that if we want to continue enjoying our favorite winter activities, we need to protect our winters. Our trailboards are made with easy-to-recycle materials and zero fiberglass. Fiberglass is almost impossible to recycle and since it decomposes very slowly, it sits in landfills for a very, very long time. All trailboards are made in the USA.
WHO WE ARE
Mundo Trailboards LLC was founded in 2018 by Chris Pembridge, Bert Meekins and Joanne An, with a simple idea that there is a better way to enjoy winter. As snowboarders, we found it more and more difficult to hit the slopes each season so we turned to winter hiking as a more convenient alternative. At every snowy hiking trail, we couldn't stop asking, "Wouldn't it be awesome if we had a snowboard?"
When we realized that snowboards were not designed to be brought along on a hike, we saw that as a design opportunity to create a board used specifically as a vehicle to elevate the hiking experience.
The result is a brand new experience we call, ‘trailboarding.’ Trailboarding is a more rewarding and cost-effective way where you can snowboard where you want and how you want.
We see trailboarding not just as a more convenient way to snowboard, but also as a vehicle. If you can save a little bit of energy and time while winter hiking, and have more fun, it's a win-win-win for us!

SPECIAL SHOUT OUTS:
We couldn’t have gotten this far without the help of our family and friends. Our deepest thanks goes to: Big T, Chris Laurita, Lizzie Stuart, Ashley Alvarado, Hilde, Julie An and Mundo the Golden Retriever.
We are actively working to make trailboarding available at the resorts. Always check with the resort before using your trailboard. Many resorts will allow you to ride with your leash securely attached.
Risks and challenges
As former product developers and operations managers, we have experience in bringing complex products to market for other clients and know what it takes to deliver a great product on time. We understand the process and have put tremendous effort in sourcing from reliable suppliers and manufacturers. We’ve spent over 2 years designing, testing, and refining the trailboard. The prototypes you see in our photos and videos perform great and as we learn and hear from you, we plan to make new models, accessories, and apparels.
We are well aware that unforeseen difficulties in production can occur. The most common risks are potential delays in tooling, obtaining raw materials, packaging, and shipping. We have worked hard to reduce these variables but they can never be completely eliminated. That being said, we’re taking every step possible to deliver a quality product on time.
Most importantly, we will make sure to give frequent updates about our progress and design changes so you’ll always be informed. Transparency is very important to us.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
