We wanted to get "Hatch-It!" out to as many people as we could during our campaign. Here is the current Alpha build of the game in web player format. It has many of the features we want for the final release. Because this is a web player format it doesn't have a lot of the graphical enhancements, like weather and dynamic lighting, but it will give you a taste of what we're working on.
It should be stable on all current browsers, although we've had a weird Chrome issue, but even that seems isolated. We'll keep updating the demo throughout the campaign as we continue development.

"Hatch-It!" is a charming and whimsical puzzle game where you must work fast, smart, and creatively as a giant asteroid threatens to forever change the world of the dinosaurs. With prehistoric island backdrops and diverse environments, Dr. Tyrannosaurus, PhD, calls upon his trusty (but rickety) robot companion to find, hatch, and rescue as many dinosaurs as possible. It all depends on you to navigate the danger and overcome numerous challenges as dinosaurs with unique personalities and abilities stand in your way. "Hatch-It!" offers an immersive experience in vibrantly colored landscapes with puzzles based on critical thinking skills while new, thematically-linked elements will be introduced through the different worlds, keeping gameplay fresh and engaging.
In development for almost 12 months, "Hatch-It!" is currently in a playable and stable prototype form on both PC/Mac and iOS that includes many of the important features we want to include in the final game. We wanted to create a game that was fun and approachable, but that also used these puzzle mechanics in unique ways not typically seen in the genre. Lastly, we are including an intriguing narrative to combine some of the story and gameplay elements.
Our "Free to Play" Philosophy
No Pay Walls
Free to play has earned a bad reputation over the years, and most of it deservedly so. The big mobile games of today create systems that eventually force the player to endure atrocious time constraints or require specific items to advance. Their business model uses these artificial, developer-induced barriers to incentivize people to spend real world money to move the game along. MVG wants you to experience the game as it was intended without feeling pressured to purchase anything. We will never introduce artificial barriers to our games. In "Hatch-It!", you can complete the whole game from start to finish without ever spending a penny.
How Do You Make Money?
Mobile games are a weird space in that there is a "race to the bottom" in terms of app prices. As opposed to console games which can sell a packaged item for a fixed cost, the mobile market is filled with super cheap or free apps. Most people aren't interested in spending money on apps. As a new developer, we wanted to get our game out to as many people as possible. We decided to offer "Hatch-It!" for free with non-obtrusive ads introduced into spots like loading screens. We are working hard to make sure the ads are not annoying, and under no circumstance will they interfere with your game experience. If you happen to really like "Hatch-It!", you can remove the ads with a $0.99 in-app purchase, at which point your game will be completely advertisement and paywall free.
It's really important to us that players love our game and we look forward to getting "Hatch-It!" into everyone's hands.
"Hatch-It!" looks to redefine what it means to be a puzzle game with challenging levels, approachable mechanics, and a new gameplay and narrative approach to the genre.
Dr. Tyrannosaurus, PhD, scientist and innovator, creates a time machine in order to reverse history, but all does not go according to plan. Crashing upon his arrival, and with little time to work before the asteroid impact, Dr. T hastily builds his new robot companion. Now it’s up to you to venture out into the wilderness and hatch those dinosaurs and teleport them back to the home base time machine, all the while hoping Dr. T can fix the time machine before the asteroid collides with Earth and ends all dinosaur life on the planet.
As you hover throughout the bright and lively environments, you must hatch as many eggs as possible, heralding the new era of surviving dinosaurs.
"Hatch-It!" will feature around 50 levels spread out over 5 distinct areas, each featuring vibrant new environments and unique challenges. Secrets are hidden in each area, requiring a clever mind and skillful play to be able to access every hidden location.
As you work to hatch eggs and release the dinosaurs within them, the perils of your mission are all around you. You must avoid running out of gas or getting destroyed during your journey. Swipe your way across your iPhone and iPad screen as you try and solve the puzzles while using as little fuel as possible. Due to his hastily constructed nature, the robot can only move in one direction at a time, and without brakes he will continue to move until he bumps into something. The level will end when you either hatch all the eggs, run out of gas, or the robot is destroyed. You’ll be assigned a final score at the end of every level based on the number of eggs you hatched, the amount of gas you used, and any injuries to the hatched dinosaurs.
Throughout the game, there will be different parts from the Time Machine wreckage scattered throughout the levels. Use the parts to upgrade your robot and help him overcome the challenges of the prehistoric world. Upgrades can be purchased in any order, allowing you to customize your robot to meet the challenges confronting you.
"Hatch-It!" features a variety of unique dinosaurs that the player will need to help hatch before the end comes. Each dino has it's own personality and will require the player to interact with in different ways to help protecting and utilize the dinosaur to overcome Hatch-It!'s many challenges.

Multivarious Games is a start-up Video Game Studio in Columbus, Ohio whose leadership is composed of individuals who have been in the technology and game space for many years. For nearly two years, we have developed a strong team of extremely talented artists, programmers, musicians and designers - all local to Columbus, who endeavor to create and deliver novel game experiences that challenge both the players and the industry in a positive and captivating way. Project Lead Christopher Volpe
As well as being the team lead, Christopher is the creative designer behind "Hatch-It!" He handles most of the creative oversight, ensuring that the thematic styles are carried throughout the game and the project reflects the enthusiasm and dedication put into "Hatch-It!"
Technical Artist Wesley Adams
A catch-all player, Wes is working on many facets of "Hatch-It!", bouncing from GUIs to 2D animation, and still finding time for 3D animation and rigging. Wes acts as the overseer for a lot of the tasks that need attending, asteroid bless his soul.
Programmer Thomas Allenbaugh
The quick-tapping fingers that built "Hatch-It!" belong to none other than Tom. Without his prowess, "Hatch-It!" would indeed be stuck in prehistoric times.
3D Artist Jillian Chastain
Jillian wrapped herself around the game with the ferocity of carnivorous dinosaurs, handing the environmental models in much the same way. She textured and modeled the environmental assets you see around the game.
3D Artist Roystan Coval
Roy picked up from where Joe left off (see below), adding the finishing touches and his own flair to the dinosaurs models. With his work, Roy guided "Hatch-It!" along its final design iterations.
3D Artist Victor Dearing
Victor modeled and animated the potential savior of all dinosaur kind, Dr. T’s robot. The robot’s unique, cheerful, yet completely underdog disposition came from this guy.
Kickstarter Campaigner Jake Donovan
Jake's been promoting and editing the backends of this project. His networking voodoo skills are something to die for.
Sound and Music Coordinator Jon Gazda
Jon is the music and sound guy. His fresh jams add ambiance to the environments and charm to the animations, making the dinosaur squeals that much cuter.

You might know Katie by the name Elentori. She picked up where Gabe left off (see below), helping to solidify the final look of "Hatch-It!" and bringing it to life.

Nolan’s job is to challenge and stump you as you navigate the world of "Hatch-It!" His level designs put even the most cognitively gifted to the test, designing labyrinths of puzzles with no quick answer.

Concept Artist Gabe Kralik
Gabe fleshed out the early visions of "Hatch-It!" before enrolling in the art institute FZD School of Design in Singapore. His work established many of the environments from the final product.
3D Artist Joe Maleski
Getting the ball rolling for 3D animations, Joe initially modeled dinosaurs before moving out to California. His initial work guided much of the modeling visions of the game.
In the past, there were few options for smaller studios like ours to become successful. But now, cheaper, more powerful tools have been developed and entire games are available nearly instantaneously over download services, which reduces the cost of development substantially for smaller studios. It also allows for a closer connection between fans and those making the games. This lets smaller companies such as ours, who are really a collection of fans themselves, the opportunity to create high quality games. But these games still have a noticeable cost.
Our team is extremely excited to keep working on "Hatch-It!" Unfortunately, the reality is that the development process has a variety of fixed costs, which we must cover.
At the end of the day, we're gamers and we want to do what we love; playing and making video games. This is the biggest challenge yet as a team, and we're excited for you to join us!
The purpose of our Kickstarter campaign is to make "Hatch-It!" the best game we can. We're coming up on one year of development in what has been a true labor of love.
The funding will first assist with the developmental and promotional costs incurred during game production. While ensuring that we make the best possible game, we also want to offer financial support to all of our team members who have been tirelessly working on the game.
Further, we need to have funds available to pay for any future work and unexpected expenses. This support will allow us to increase our productivity as we going into our final development period before release. Additional funding will give us the opportunity to create more intricate and dynamic levels, additional content, and perhaps even additional game modes. With all of this in mind, we have turned to Kickstarter to assist us with our debut into this industry.
These initial funds are going entirely to development of "Hatch-It!" with almost all of the other costs coming out-of-pocket. Additional donations will allow us to enhance the features of the game, make use of other advertising sources, help us attend expos and conferences, such as GDC and PAX, to better promote the game, and lastly, compensate our team for their hard work.
We would like to thank all of our partners who have helped to support and promote our Kickstarter and "Hatch-It!" Without the help and support of people like these, we wouldn't be able to do what we do.
Video game development is an inherently difficult process. For a game to become successful, it must be accessible and be an engaging experience for the player, while meeting high quality standards. An aspect of any game may seem perfect to the developers but completely fail when implemented. Only through iterative experimental processes can games become fully realized and offer players the best experiences. However, the iterative process introduces risk to the development cycle.
To alleviate some of this risk, we have assembled a team built around a core of talented individuals guided by leadership that is knowledgeable about software development. Their knowledge and drive, combined with an understanding of iterative development processes, has allowed the rest of the team to contribute to the project efficiently as well as allowing everyone to have a say in the final product.
Although game development remains risky, our team has continued to work diligently for the past 12 months on "Hatch-It!", making considerable progress on the core mechanics and art direction of the project. We’re a startup company. Although we’ve been able to be frugal and efficient, game development has numerous costs associated with it. There are numerous pieces of software we need to purchase, developer fees, marketing and promotion expenses, as well All this is a long-winded way of saying that your support means the world to us.
We’re a small start-up studio. We’re currently trying to make our way by using contract work to help cover the costs of our internal expenses. Although this has given us the opportunity to keep working on the projects near and dear to our hearts, it has the side effect of (1) taking time away from our projects such as Hatch-It, and (2) there is no guarantee that we’ll continue to get more contracts.. We come from a variety of backgrounds, but we’re all in it to win. Some of us have left our previous jobs to pursue our dream full time, others are students looking to get into the industry after they graduate, while others just want to be part of the team for the chance to make great games.
We’re looking at a release date of Fall 2014 when our Kickstarter is successful for the iOS version. Depending on us reaching different stretch goals, release on other platforms are estimated between Fall 2014 and Early 2015.
Your rewards will depend on your support level, with different items being sent out at different times. However, we will attempt to have all rewards “in hand” by the end of 2014.
We decided to try something that we think is pretty new. Each reward package has a different set of rewards, and potentially a Stretch Goal Bonus. No. The current graphics and animations are placeholders in our Alpha version. Most of our time has been devoted to creating and polishing the physics that are fundamental to the game. The graphics are there as a rough gauge of the style we're going for. We are improving our graphics and graphical effects all the time, and a portion of the video shows the improvements in graphics over time.
