When the program has finished the InnoChiller will sound an alarm to let you know it's done and it will, of course, stop the fan so the cooling process is slowed down.
Each program has been timed according to the experiences we have had by testing the InnoChiller over and over again.
The InnoChiller works by blowing cold air over your warm beverages, utilizing the effect from wind-chill. The wind-chill factor is the lowering of body temperature due to the passing flow of lower temperature air.
The InnoChiller uses forced convection (the process of energy exchanged through air or liquids) to create the chill effect. The InnoChiller helps the speeding up of the energy exchange by increasing the airflow around the beverage and thereby improving the convection.
The temperature conversion takes place in 3 steps:
- Convection from the cold freezer air through the boundary layer of air on the can
- Conduction through the solid aluminum can that contains the beer
- Convection from the aluminum through the beer on the inside of the aluminum can.
This chilling effect is exactly the same thing you feel when you step outside on a cold day with high winds - it feels much colder than it actually is.

We encourage you to test your own perfect timing as the results can vary depending on these 4 factors which can change how the performance of InnoChiller is perceived:
- The temperature inside the freezer.
- Freezer size.
- Goods already stored in the freezer.
- Beverage temp. preference.
This means that you will have a better result using a big and very cold freezer which already contains a lot of frozen goods compared to a small and relatively warm freezer with only a few frozen items already inside. No matter what, you will always cool down your drinks much faster regardless of what freezer you have available. And remember, you can also use the InnoChiller in your fridge, just run the program twice.
No. We get asked this urban legend a lot.
The cold air inside a freezer can't contain as much water, and will soon be saturated with the maximum amount of water vapor after a brief cooling down period. This prevents the wet towel from evaporating. The evaporation depends on humidity of air, and the humidity of air in a freezer largely depends on condensation on the surface of the cooling elements, and thereby defeats the whole purpose wrapping a wet towel around your bottle.
By adding a wet towel to your bottle you actually insulate the bottle with one more layer of resistance, if the water can't evaporate.
This means the heat transfer now need to go through 5 steps instead of only 3:
- Convection from the cold freezer air through the boundary layer of air on the wet towel.
- Conduction through the wet paper towel.
- Convection through the water between the towel and the bottle.
- Conduction through the solid glass bottle that contains the wine.
- Convection from the bottle through the wine on the inside of the bottle
The specially designed fan ensures a high airflow across the products you wish to cool down. The fan has also been designed to overcome various kinds of resistance inside the InnoChiller, this means you can pretty much fill up the whole InnoChiller with beverages and the fan will still be able to squeeze air past your drinks.
We have chosen a 21700 type cell which is capable of delivering 4000 mAh. This makes it possible to run the InnoChiller for 45 min. inside the freezer. Did you know - The next generation of Tesla cars will have battery packages based on this type of cell and it is widely known as a high capacity and highly reliable Li-Ion cell. Cool right?
(Get it? Cool? We’ll see ourselves out…).
After the battery has discharged completely you can still use the InnoChiller, simply connect the charger and flat-cord USB cable through the door on your freezer and continue to cool down beers for your thirsty guests all night.
To make it easy and quick to use the InnoChiller we have made a visual interface with a 1.3" 128x64 pixels OLED display which makes it very easy to select a program. The reason for choosing an OLED screen is because of its good performance at low temperatures.
*The InnoChiller has been made so it fits in almost every home freezer. Whether it’s a large kitchen freezer or small door-freezer. We’ve made it as small as possible while making sure it’s versatile, ensuring it can hold up to 6 beers/soft drinks and a lot of other beverages.

Import tax and VAT
Import tax and VAT is not included in the price here on Kickstarter and each backer is responsible for paying VAT in their respective country if it applies.
Shipments in the EU will be fulfilled from Denmark and shipments for the United States will be fulfilled within our partner warehouse based in the States.
In the first quarter of 2019 we received the very first prototypes from the factory in China and we were thrilled to see the result and we soon after ordered the first test batch.
This test batch was shipped to us in June and it also proved to exceed our expectations, so we feel very confident that all design hurdles, logistics, supplies etc, is completely set and ready to scale up.
The next big step in bringing the InnoChiller to the market is to run this campaign and order a mass production order.
Mads and Jesper
We are both engineers and 31 years old. We started InnoChiller in 2016 after a few months of initial testing.
The idea for the InnoChiller came to be on a normal Tuesday evening where we were drinking a decent amount of beers until it happened - we had no more cold beers left.
Of course we panicked and quickly threw some beers into the freezer and waited for them to get cold. We waited for some 50 min. before we felt the beers was cold enough to drink, and in that time we discussed ways of cooling down faster than the freezer could do it.
We looked for ice cubes but we had used the rest on making Mojitos the day before... so we tried to put wet paper towel around the beers and then throw them in the freezer, but still no improved result.
Jesper was working with industrial refrigeration design at the time and he suggested we could use the same technique as they use in big slaughterhouses to quick cooling the meat, simply blow cold air over the beers and see what happens.
It worked! And we started developing a solution that could run on battery inside the cold environment of a freezer. This idea also gave us a good excuse to get together and "test" the InnoChiller frequently, and the rest is history.

We are engineers, and we can make things work, but were unsure on how to turn the InnoChiller into a physical finished product with a great design (Maybe that's not our strongest competence...)
That's why we took contact to the danish designer Martin Stoltze who owns Creos Product Design to help us create the finalized design of the InnoChiller. Here are some of his thoughts on the InnoChiller:

We started the company in April 2016 and soon after we started to draw the first lines of the InnoChiller. We had a lot of different designs in the beginning, so we spent quite some time in this phase. Shortly after the company was started we bought a 3D printer to help us speed up the design phase by rapid prototyping the designs we made.
We quickly tested a lot of different designs, some more elegant than others, and we soon had a pretty good idea of what type of components we wanted to implement into the InnoChiller for it to perform the way we wanted it to.
The final outline of the current design was done in December 2016, and drawings and prototypes made from this design is what the InnoChiller is based on today. We will commence production as soon as we finish on Kickstarter and in August we will travel to the factory again and make sure the production goes according to plan.
To make it absolutely clear, we are running this campaign only for the purpose of starting up production and to kick off our business. All design and development has already been 100% finished and all the manufacturers and suppliers are eager to begin making the InnoChiller for all our backers.
We have even made two test production batches, one of 10 units and one more of 90 units, just to make sure that we can scale up the full production without any challenges.

Risks and challenges
We have spend the past two years dedicating most of our time to design and develop the InnoChiller. For most part of these two years we faced big challenges almost every day.
Some of the challenges pertained to the actual design of each part which was something that we made a big effort to get right - the overall functionality was prioritized above all.
However, it was also important for us to reduce the number of parts needed and to make assembly as easy as possible, we do not like to over-complicate things and we believe that a simple approach is often the best approach.
Another big challenge was coordinating the logistics from our suppliers. This turned out to be much more complicated and time consuming than we had thought.
Just by changing a small detail on the design can have a massiv impact on other parts, so each time we made a change all the other parts needed to be verified and tested again, and this process took much more time than we expected.
We have made a test production batch to ensure that we are able to manufacture, assemble and ship the InnoChillers.
During this test production we found a few small hiccups here and there which have been corrected, but overall we were very pleased with the result and the way our supply chain worked.
We are very glad that we chose to do all the design and test production BEFORE running this campaign. Although it has had a much higher cost doing it this way instead of running a campaign to finance the design, we think it was worth it. Now we know that we can deliver a fully functional product to all our backers because everything is set up to commence production at any given point.
Risk still exist in this project and things can still be delayed for whatever reason, but the risk of never delivering a product is pretty much non-existing at this point in the project.
We do not seek support for developing, we seek support for scaling up production.
