What is M.O. about?
M.O. is the story of a ordinary man living an ordinary life, with one exception: he's a serial killer.
Now before you say, "WHAT? Another movie about a serial killer? It's been done!", let me explain why this film is DIFFERENT.
Ask yourself: how many movies about serial killers have shown what a serial killer does when he isn't killing? How does a serial killer plan his crimes? And how does a guy that seems totally normal hide such a monumental secret from everybody?
After doing A TON of research and a lot of brainstorming, I sat down and wrote an outline that incorporates these ideas, and a few months later...BOOM! SCREENPLAY! (4 drafts so far...)
M.O. is short for modus operandi, which is defined as: a distinct pattern or method of operation that indicates or suggests the work of a single criminal in more than one crime. In other words, it's the way in which a serial killer (the main character of this film) plans out, executes, and covers up his crimes. THAT'S what this film is about...in addition to the normal, every day life he shares with his wife and daughter, who have no idea what he's up to.
How do you plan to make this film worth watching?
Fair question! From the beginning, we decided that the best way to shoot the film is in a documentary-like, cinema verite style.
What better way to study and learn about a character than by following him around with a camera everywhere he goes?
How does my pledge help make this film possible?
Every pledge matters! Like any micro-budget independent film, we have expenses that we absolutely have to pay for...and that's after begging for and borrowing as much stuff as we can!
Your pledge allows us to pay for the essentials: salaries for cast & crew (which are MINIMAL), food, color correction, sound mix, props, locations...anything we have to pay for! Keep in mind that $20,000 is a TINY budget for a feature film and it's the BARE MINIMUM we need to get our film off the ground.
How far along are you in the filmmaking process?
We've already put in a significant portion of pre-production work onour film: we have our script, we have a Producer and a Director of Photography (who comes complete with his own RED camera), we have our locations scouted, and we are currently in the casting process! What we need now is a budget to bring these elements together so we can start shooting!
What do you plan to do with the film?
