Why MSA Sports Needs YOU...and $85,000 Dollars!
Streaming more than 2,000 live events each year, maintaining access to 20,000+ archives and managing a website that includes schedules, articles and more for 1,200 plus teams takes much passion and dedication (which we have plenty of). That passion comes from knowing that we provide an opportunity for students, parents, siblings, alumni, and other fans of local amateur sports to have the opportunity to listen not just to football, basketball and baseball broadcasts but coverage of every other varsity sport that normally receives no live broadcasting coverage. And because the coverage is streamed, fans are able to listen to any broadcast whether they happen to be in the WPIAL area, have moved to a different part of the U.S., or even if they happen to be stationed abroad serving our country.
Operating a service of that scale also requires financial support to cover the costs associated with those efforts. In addition to running the network for the last 15 years, Management Science Associates has provided an overwhelming majority of the financial backing necessary to support the level of local high school and college coverage that MSA Sports provides. MSA is not, and has never, sought to profit off the coverage of these amateur sports. The sole goal is to break even on the operating costs associated with live streaming the number of events that are provided as part of the MSA Sports Network and its affiliate stations. We have several local and regional businesses that have been great sponsors in helping to achieve that goal. Every single dollar that we receive from sponsors and donations goes directly to the operations of the sports network. That support still falls well short of the total ongoing investment required to operate the network.
Our goal of $85,000.00 will aid us in covering the costs for many of our "highest demand" broadcasts of the year (and often times, most expensive due to increased resources needed for their facilitation and production). This includes 58 Football playoffs/championships, 140 (+/-) Basketball playoffs/championships, 69 Baseball playoffs/championships and 72 Softball playoffs/championships. Our expenses include (but are not limited to) rights fees, broadcast and production personnel, website infrastructure, media server infrastructure and communications services (phone, cell, and data services along with internet services).

"Sports"...it's what we do!
MSA Sports has been connecting Western PA high school sports fans to live games and more for nearly 2 decades. Their is no question that the passion for what we do runs deep and our commitment to our local high school teams is second to none!
High School Athletics are a vital part of our local communities, crossing over social and economic boundaries -- uniting our neighborhoods. With an estimated 120,000 people attending high school football games each and every Friday night across the WPIAL district, it is clear that high school sports are an important part of our communities, our culture and our way of life in Western PA.
We are seeking the support of all those who may have been (or who are still currently) touched by the offerings of our network. Past athletes who have been featured on the network who have gone on to successful college and professional sporting careers; fans and former team members who continue to follow their schools sporting events; coaches and community members whose teams we follow; businesses who serve the communities and families of Western PA, twitter and social media followers...We need all of YOU!
Featured in the video above are MSA Sports Operations Manager Don Rebel talking with Jesse James, #91 / tight end with our beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. At the time of the interview, Jesse was playing in the same position for the South Allegheny Gladiators.
MSA Sports touches lives both near and far
We pride ourselves on the ways we are able to keep families connected to their children's teams, no matter where life takes them. Some of our proudest moments are when we receive notes of thanks from parents who are stationed overseas in the military who are able to listen to their son's football game or daughter's volleyball game, or the business traveler who can tune in to the big wrestling match in between flights.
"We’ve been with MSA Sports since the beginning – and even now when doing it ourselves is possible, MSA is still the best opportunity for us.
Not only is MSA well-known because of what it does, but it’s the collection of information, resources, and content that makes using MSA a no-brainer for us. Our listeners love it because it gives them access to broadcasts anytime, anywhere, over and over again. Our advertisers love it because their message and association with our broadcasts is maintained and heard over and over again.
There is something to be said for “doing it right” – and MSA Sports... does".
Scott Briggs, VP, Operations -- Butler County Radio Network

Risks and challenges
MSA Sports has a long tradition of broadcasting high school sports in Western PA, maintaining a "free for consumption" ideology. Our offerings are community based and securing funding through traditional means of advertising sponsorships are difficult as a result of this. We are counting on YOU to help keep the tradition of high school sports broadcasts here in Western PA! Our goal is aggressive, but we have faith that the support that is needed to sustain our operations will be realized.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
