: a shrewd, unprincipled person
Snollygoster is a 2-4 player space themed card game of survival, teamwork, and a little bit of sabotage. You and your awful teammates are stranded on an alien planet and need to escape before food runs out. Secretly, though, everyone is carrying out hidden agendas that encourage teamwork... and treachery. Turn after turn, tensions rise as the food supply shrinks and distrust grows. Team players survive. Snollygosters win.
Snollygoster was developed by J. L Westover (Mr. Lovenstein) along with his papa and brother. Countless hours of blood, sweat, and more blood were put into this project. It's been thoroughly play tested, tweaked, and play tested some more. We're ready to deliver this baby.
If you like food from a tube and want to give your friends dysentery, back Snollygoster today.
Watch J. L. and his pals play a whole round of Snollygoster so you can see the game in action!
This project is the combined efforts of J. L. Westover, his dad, and his brother. J. L. is known for the comic Mr. Lovenstein. You may have seen it floating around the web and in office cubicles. Here’s a small sampling of his work. You can read the full library on his website: mrlovenstein.com
Snollygoster started like most games do. Words and doodles scribbled on the backs of playing cards. Over the course of two years, it morphed countless times. Past names included “Rat Trap,” “Flip Flop,” and “Flying Piggies.” We fell in love with the word "snollygoster" and its definition inspired the unscrupulous style of play. The space theme paired nicely with the game mechanics. Stranded space cadets on a desolate planet is a good backdrop for quality back stabbin'. Here’s some early concept art for your amusement.
Risks and challenges
We're thoroughly prepared to make this game. We have printers lined up and ready to go. We have a budget with every dollar accounted for. We've printed dozens of prototypes to make sure everything looks right. We've playtested, playtested, and then playtested some more. We're ready, baby.
We will be using Backerkit to help with fulfillment and make sure everyone gets what they ordered. J. L. has first-hand experience running a successful campaign and fulfilling rewards. The added help of his dad and brother makes it all the more manageable. Our goal is to get this game to you as quickly, accurately, and efficiently as we can.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
