About this project
Ex Sangrum is a dynamic team card game where each player starts as a Vampire or Hunter and wants to convert all other players to his team. What makes Ex Sangrum so interesting is that as long as there is at least one member of each team, it's still anyone's game.
- Divide into two teams, half(ish) Hunters and the rest Vampires
- Draw cards from your team's deck
- Play cards to attack or harass members of the other team to weaken or convert them to your side
- Help your allies or flee the round if you're vulnerable
- Watch yourself! Your old team will try and convert you back if you're not careful!

The crossed swords icon indicates that a card is an attack card. This is important because some cards that counter effects specifically state they only counter attacks.
The red cross indicates that a card can be played to aid another player when he is helpless (meaning that he currently has no cards in his hand).
The moustache indicates that this card is included in the Special Edition decks only!
Another handy feature of our cards is the side title: Each card has its name written vertically on the side so that it's easy to hold your cards in your hand and know what you have at a glance without having to shuffle through them constantly.
Our basic deck has a total of 153 cards; the Hunter deck has 75 cards and the Vampire deck has 78. (The two factions have a different number of cards to keep the appropriate draw ratios for individual cards; it serves to maintain the power balance.) Our special edition deck has an additional 2 copies each of 2 new cards for each faction, raising the totals to 79 cards for Vampires and 82 for Hunters. Our collector's edition is two special edition decks (158 cards for Vampires and 164 for Hunters so you'll almost never have to reshuffle during a game) that comes in a wooden box with a flipping coin and 4 custom Mr. Fancy dice. See below for some color pictures of what some of our finished cards and other rewards look like.
The standard game has a total of 153 cards, split into two decks. One for Vampires and one for Hunters.
The Special Edition comes with 8 additional cards total; 4 for Vampires and 4 for Hunters. The Mr. Fancy moustache in the corner shows you which cards are special edition.
The Collector’s Edition is two special edition decks so you can give one to a friend or combine them to make larger decks, plus four custom Mr. Fancy 6-sided dice, and a flipping coin (for certain cards), all in the Collector’s Edition wooden box.
Most of our rewards have cool extras; make sure to read each reward tier and find out which cool stuff you can get! Check out the video for even more images of our extras!
One of our greatest concerns for Ex Sangrum was replayability; what if it was only fun two or three times? We don't like buying games like that and we don't want to produce them, either. Ex Sangrum has tons of replay value because no matter what, you're on the winning team. For the entire game, you are rooting for your team, whichever side that may happen to be right now. One minute you're cheering on your Hunter ally as he Stakes a Vampire. Thirty seconds later, you've been bitten and question your former ally's paternity. The variety of cards and the luck of the draw insures that every game is different. Since everyone gets to play until the end, it's fun the entire time for all the players.
We're geeks. We love games. We love hanging out with friends and trying new ones, so we decided to start sharing our own original games. Ex Sangrum started as just an idea, something we discussed for several months. What's the mechanic for changing teams? How else can you harass your enemies besides converting them? After we had a good basic idea of what we thought would be fun, we sat down and did our first test deck on some blank index cards. We played it with our friends several times and then sat down with all of our notes to do our second iteration deck.
Then we played some more. And did a third iteration deck with some new wording, different card counts, and even a few new cards.
We played, and played, and played. We played with our friends, we played with people we didn't like that much. After a bazillion suggestions, test games, months and months, and numerous test decks, the game was where we wanted it to be. Vampires and Hunters are nicely balanced so that neither side is overpowered but both sides have some awesome attack, counter, and defense cards. We sat the last test deck aside for a few weeks so that we could clear our minds a bit and pick it up afresh to make sure it was where we really wanted it. We have played it since then and in fact, that deck now lives in our game room so that it's handy whenever we have friends over. Thanks to everyone for playing this game over and over and over, and even requesting to play it!
Sometimes shipping outside of the US can be confusing. If your order will be mailed outside of the US, international shipping varies by reward and is listed in the description. So, if you want the Early Bird Standard Deck, then your pledge will be $9 for the deck + $10 for shipping. Total Pledge = $24.
If you pledged the wrong amount by mistake, don't worry. Simply go to your account and click on 'Manage Pledge'; when you get to the Manage Pledge page, type in the correct pledge amount and verify that the correct reward is still selected below. That's all there is to it!

Risks and challenges
We've done hours and hours of research to find reputable, quality, affordable printers for our boxes and cards; our sample prints are just amazing. We were even able to keep this 100% made in the USA.
All of the development, art, design, accounting, manufacturers and samples have already been thoroughly researched and secured but sometimes the unforeseen can cause delays.
There's always a risk that one or several of our manufacturers will be late on delivery because of a problem on their end. Since our manufacturers are reputable and established (like Chessex and Uprinting), if our order was delayed, we would be flexible and work with them to make the delay as expedient and painless as possible. In the unlikely event that one of our manufacturers completely reneged on a contract or for some reason would no longer be able to fulfill our order, we have back up options available. Our backups would be more labor intensive and slightly more expensive on our end and switching to a new company midstream may cause additional delays but in the end, Ex Sangrum would still get made and you would get your merchandise in the condition promised for the price advertised.
