Two crazy people that love games, all aspects of them, playing, designing, teaching, and talking about them. Now it's our time to bring two of our games to the public, family, friends, and supporters old and new!
Formed in 2012 in Tucson AZ, Mozu Productions is the brainchild of Aric Jack, its founder. Partner Jamie Lewis was officially brought on board in the Summer of 2014.
Now it is 2018 and Aric and Jamie are claiming it as the year of Mozupro! It has been decided that this is the year to take the next step, to raise some funds to bring two of our own games to life for local and beyond locations for players to be able to take the games to their own homes and play them at their gaming tables! The games we want to showcase are below!
AXIOM is a sci fantasy trick taker where the players represent “Channelers”, magic users of three different sources of power in a struggle to form the most Crystals of energy in the game. Players do this by winning the “Struggle” or trick each turn, earning a fragment. When a player has three fragments they form one of the crystals exposed at the start of the game, taking control of it and triggering its one time affect.
They win the struggle by playing 2 cards from a hand of 10, drafted at the start of a round, simultaneously face down each turn. These cards will manipulate the game state by triggering spells, gaining the players points in one or more of the sources of power for later use and winning the struggle through sheer combined value of the cards revealed.
When the exposed crystals are controlled or the players would empty their hands after the 3rd draft, the game is over, the player controlling the most crystals being declared the winner. Depending on the source of power a Channeler has at that time they have either saved or destroyed their world.

AXIOM character art sketch
Thanks to our amazing local artist, cyanali, we have some amazing art coming for the Channelers in AXIOM; you can see a sketch of her work below. You can always follow her on Instagram to get a real good look at her portfolio, we can't wait to get the final pieces from her, and it is going to look incredible.

Tales of Corvus Bend: Tin Star
First in our line of shared universe games, ToCB: Tin Star is a dice drafting worker placement game set in the steampunk old west settlement called Corvus Bend. The players are Deputy Sheriffs that draft dice, (their workers) and then send them out to collect resources from the 6 different types available. Combinations of the resources are used later to capture the Bounties that are running through the area, gaining the players victory points. At the end of the eighth turn the player with the most VP is declared the winner, becoming the new full-fledged Sheriff of Corvus Bend.
Along the way players will unlock new short term contacts on the board, giving them more options, trigger Boons that affect just them, and possibly face the wrath of the Bounties that are trying to escape when they gang up on the settlement and cause one of the Disasters placed on the board.

Ladies and gentleman, I give you the two people that make up Mozu Productions, Aric Jack and Jamie Lewis!
Aric designed his first game all the way back in 1996 on a dare and the bug was born. From then until 2014, designing was more an on again off again affair, but after retiring from Air Force life he decided to put more effort into getting games from his imagination to the kitchen table.
Jamie was drawn in through sheer curiosity and a willingness to create. It doesn't hurt that she works her butt off either! A longtime friend of Aric's, game player, and all around creative herself, she began designing in 2012 when he asked her if she wanted to help with a cool project that he had come up with... the team, as they say, was formed.
When Aric started putting more time into all things Mozu in 2014 he asked Jamie if she would like to be an official partner in the ongoing insanity that was taking place and she said yes!
We've pitched our games at national conventions, met one on one with publishers, and run tons of demos for all kinds of games, including our own at Tucson local game stores and at local conventions. However, it took a local Tucson fan to make Aric realize maybe 2018 was the year to get a foot fully into the game, it was time to use Kickstarter, and here we are!
Hopefully you'll follow us on this journey, it has just begun!
Risks and challenges
As with any project there are always some risks and limitations involved with it's completion. While Mozu Productions has never done this before we are not completely unaware of the process. The backer buttons and dice have already been produced, 250-300 of each are sitting in a cabinet in Mozupro HQ as I type this. The pint glasses have had a sample run also created and our vendor is aware of the possible demand that is forthcoming. The games themselves are basically finished. Each needs minor graphics changes and AXIOM needs the new art that is being commissioned for it and then it goes to the printer. Speaking of the printer, we are using the services of the Game Crafter to print our games. We've used their services before and due to real life issues (Aric's job) and super small print run, we won't be able to go overseas for the final product.
After that it is packaging and shipping! Pretty sure we can manage that.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
