MOVI is an ergonomic, electric, spacious standing desk, crafted from bamboo.
MOVI gives you the ability to sit and stand effortlessly, with the touch of a button.
MOVI comes fully assembled, all you need to do is plug it in and away you go.
MOVI has been designed with no compromises.
Over the last four years, we’ve tried just about every standing desk on the market but never found a product that suited all our needs. There are often major issues with standing desk add-ons, in terms of design, lifting hazards, stability, space and ergonomics.
In consultation with health experts and through hours of user testing and extensive feedback, we designed MOVI to overcome every limitation of desk add-on products.
We consulted health experts to design a standing desk that suits you. MOVI elevates up to 17.5” (44cm) suiting people from 5’ to 6’4” tall, and adjusts in precise ½” (1cm) increments.
MOVI is electric, making it easy for you to sit and stand with the touch of a button. You can input and memory save your exact standing height for an ergonomic setup every time.
MOVI gives you space to work the way you want. The clear surface is 45” (115cm) wide. It’s just like your existing desk, elevated. No nasty cutouts, keyboard trays or bulky handles.
MOVI is crafted with a sustainably sourced bamboo, making your workspace environmental and elegant. A protective coating prevents scratches and stains and is easy to clean.
We've designed a User Interface that's clear and simple to use; Up, Down, Move. MOVI comes with an ergonomic chart that provides your best possible standing height.
When designing MOVI, ergonomics was a top priority.
- MOVI has an intuitive height input interface
- MOVI height adjusts at the touch of a button
- MOVI suits people from 5' tall, right up to 6'4" tall
- MOVI elevates up to 17.5” (44cm) above your desk
- MOVI adjusts in precise increments ½" (1cm)
- MOVI memory saves your exact standing height
Note: Many ergonomic and occupational health experts have expressed concerns with most standing desk add-on products available due to clutter issues, limited height options, stability issues, user strains and reaching hazards. To find out more, read this article. We considered and overcame all of these factors in our design process.
MOVI improves your health and wellbeing while you work.
By standing and moving you create an active workday and experience many health benefits.
Bamboo can be selectively harvested without the destruction of the grove or stand. Greater use of bamboo as an alternative to hardwoods will contribute to a slowing in the depletion of tropical forests, with corresponding benefits for bio-diversity, conservation, and carbon sequestration (absorption). As a result, planting and harvesting bamboo can help the world to get a step closer to carbon neutrality.
The design aesthetic of MOVI was inspired by nature.
We had the vision of bringing the outside indoors to create an uplifting workspace. With this in mind, we felt a natural benchtop was the best way to achieve this. So when considering the materials that make MOVI, an environmentally friendly and eco solution was top priority. Bamboo was our selection, next to FSC timber, but bamboo is environmentally far superior, and we loved the look, feel and durability of bamboo the best!
The large surface is 45" wide and 27.5" deep (115cm wide and 70cm deep). It has a smaller footprint of 42" wide and 21" deep (106cm wide and 54cm deep), MOVI is designed to suit just about every desk.
MOVI's maximum lifting capacity of 44lbs (20kgs) is perfect for single or dual monitor setups. MOVI elevates vertically and is incredibly stable, with no leans or wobbles. You can lift all this equipment with MOVI:
MOVI comes in one size only and is available with a black or white option.
Expected delivery in April 2018.
We have overcome a lot of very complex challenges and firmly believe that this is the absolute best standing desk product out there. There is nothing else on the market that offers you what MOVI does - space, ergonomics, design and practicality - that's why we've patented our product and mechanism.

After spending endless hours at work in front of a computer, I was determined to find a way to stay active during the day.
I experienced an injury associated with doing strenuous physical exercise after sitting all day and discovered how unnatural it was for my body. I researched how this happened. The answer, the human body is designed for movement.
So I created a DIY standing desk. It inspired my team at Uber HQ Melbourne to introduce standing desks, but then they weren’t being used often. Turns out there were a lot of downfalls with standing desk products. And so MOVI was born!
My vision is to create a behavioural change, health-focused workplaces, with a healthy working culture, all backed by research.
Find out more about the research in my book, The Sitting Epidemic.

Using Kickstarter enables us to be part of a global community of early adopters and product lovers who appreciate and support innovative creations. Being part of this community, allows us to reach people all over the world, so that more people can experience MOVI.
Your backing on Kickstarter will help fund manufacturing preparation, tooling, moulding and our initial production run. To date, we’ve funded a huge amount of product development, prototyping and R&D to get MOVI to this point and now we’re ready to begin production.
As Kickstarter backers ourselves, we understand how challenging it is to go through the journey of conceptualising an idea, all the way through to delivering a finished product. Without the support of this incredible community, many products and projects would never have materialised. We are grateful for all your support and excited for you to enjoy the MOVI Standing Desk!
After experiencing positive mental and physical benefits of using a standing desk, I needed to validate the real health benefits of standing regularly throughout the day. I had to confirm that MOVI would be a product that could truly change someone’s life for the better.
While undertaking research, I not only wanted to learn from medical journals and studies, but from professionals who work in this field every day. I have read over 100 medical journals, many of which are referenced throughout the book, and interviewed 20 health experts to bring you the true facts about how introducing regular movement to your day will improve your health, increase your productivity and significantly reduce your risk of disease.

We consulted 20 Australian health experts. Meet two of them here! They explain the health benefits of standing and moving while working, and the health risks from prolonged sitting and physical inactivity.
Associate Professor Kylie O’Brien
Director at National Institute of Integrative Medicine (NIIM), BSc(Optom), BAppSc(ChinMed), MPH, PhD (Chinese Medicine)
“Physical inactivity increases our risk of cancer, heart disease, poorer digestion, and musculoskeletal problems, such as back, neck, shoulder pain. Sitting exacerbates my back problem, standing alleviates it, as does movement."
Dr John Tickell
International health, wellness and longevity expert, MBBS
“Why we’re not designed to sit all day. The human body is created with around 600 muscles and 180 joints and all of these intricate bits and pieces were designed to move."
