Mott & Bayard Eyewear was founded to bridge culture and style through visionary design. Design that creates perfect fitting pair of glasses, especially for people with low nose-bridges.
Buying a pair of glasses that fits well and looks great is tough. Some frames may look stylish, but once you put them on, they sit too close to your cheeks or feel too heavy on your nose. Some may fit perfectly, but you wouldn't be caught dead leaving the house wearing them.
Mott & Bayard Eyewear was created to change that. We make great-looking and better fitting glasses with the finest material on the market so that people can feel both confident and comfortable wearing them.
Mott & Bayard Eyewear is named after well-known streets in the heart of lower Manhattan. The brand embodies the cultural and stylistic dynamism of Lower Manhattan by capturing the look and feel of SoHo and Chinatown.
Each pair of Mott & Bayard frames are made out of the best acetate material on the market, and feature elevated nose pads that offer a more accurate and comfortable fit. We want to give people the freedom to choose the frames they want, without worrying about the fit.
We know how frustrating it can be to find glasses when it seems like nothing will both fit and look good. Our frames are different because they:
- Have extended nose-pads to provide a more comfortable and accurate fit
- Have flatter frame tilt so the frames won’t sit too close to the cheeks
- Use patented, high-density cellulose acetate that are 20% lighter and thinner than regular acetate but just as durable.
After four years of developing the product and getting it just right, we’re now ready to introduce the Mott & Bayard TrueFit.
Regular Fit vs Mott & Bayard TrueFit
Our newest designs feature the vibrant trendy nature of New York City, with funky new colors and shapes and our signature TrueFit frame design.
Some of our favorites include our new emphasis on round frames, tortoiseshell subtlety, and bold tones, as well as oversized sunglasses that offer just the protection you’ll need against the sun’s rays.

Thank you in advance for helping us make better glasses for a more diverse people. If we get funded, 50% of the funds will go to product design and manufacturing. We will use the money to design new products, purchase raw materials, components, and the best acetate sheets on the market, cover the labor cost, and pay for the shipping. The other 20% will be used to develop our own e-commerce platform and set up our FREE Home Try-on Program, so more people can easily view/buy our products online and try a few pairs at home before purchasing. 15% will be used to develop a partnership with a local lab so all of our glasses can be properly filled with lenses. The rest 15% will be used on advertising and promotion.
- What types of lenses does Mott & Bayard use?
All the lenses we use come from the industry leaders who have perfected the art of optics. For this particular Kickstarter Collection, all complete pairs of eyeglasses will be filled with standard polycarbonate lenses with anti-glare, scratch-resistant coating, which also offers 100% UV protection. For sunglasses, all lenses offer 100% UV protection, anti-scratch coating is also included.
- Will my glasses be filled with prescription?
Yes. Unless you back on the “Mott & Bayard Frame Only - Early Bird” or “Mott & Bayard Frame Only”, all the remaining rewards are with COMPLETE pairs. All your eyeglasses will be with your prescription, unless you advise us otherwise. However, for this Kickstarter Campaign in particular, we only offer Single Vision lenses with Sphere Power ranging from +6.00 to -8.00, and Cylinder (CYL) ranging from +4.00 to -4.00.
- Can I upgrade my lenses?
Yes. We will start developing our e-commerce platform after we get funded and launch it before we start fulfilling rewards to our backers. So if you prefer other lenses, you can choose the type of lenses you like on our website. We will offer certain discount to our backers and charge the lenses fee on our website.
- How can I indicate my prescription for my eyeglasses?
We will send our backers a survey immediately after the campaign ends to gather the information. You can put down your prescription and where you took your eye exam in our survey. We might call your doctor’s office to verify your prescription before making your glasses.

Risks and challenges
Welcome to the Mott & Bayard family! We thank all the backers who support us and make this project happen! Even though this will be our first mass production run, we are well prepared to deal with all the risks and challenges.
Eyewear Quality Control: Our founder has been working as a senior buyer for his family optical/eyewear business for a very long time. His expertise on eyewear and product design will ensure that each and every pair of Mott & Bayard frames is finished up to all the standards.
Manufacturing Challenges: Creating a single pair of Mott & Bayard frames can take as many as two dozen production steps. And of course, creating a line of eyewear with elevated nose pads will potentially extend the production time. However, as we mentioned, the manufacturer we found has years of experience in making the finest acetate frames. As a matter of fact, we worked with them on previous collections for over three years now. The factory has been maintaining a very high-standard product quality over the years. We'll be working closely with them this time to make sure that every step goes smoothly, from choosing the right acetate to ensuring each and every pair of Mott & Bayard frames is properly assembled and polished.
Lab Qualification: We have established a partnership with a reputable local optical lab in New York City. The lab has three highly trained technicians, with a combined 75 years of experience, they will be in charge of fitting prescription lenses for all Mott & Bayard frames.
Shipping and Logistics: International shipping can be tricky. But we have been working with a handful of shipping providers and they will make sure that our products arrive on time. We will start fulfill the rewards to our backers once we receive our products. If any delays occur, which could affect our shipping timeline, we will be completely transparent with our backers and provide regular updates and estimate shipping time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
