About this project
We are raising funds to complete the production of a series of ten minute webisodes of a motorcycle (superbike) racing web series - targeting motorcycle enthusiasts or anyone who likes motorcycle racing and the art of the racing motorcycle. Kickstarter funds will help with the rider management component of production costs.
Fast forward to the last lap. Pro Superbike riders go head to head - drag’em style. This series of one-on-one, short, road-circuit races will crown the Motorcycle Wars Champion. It’s a racing format they’re not used to, but prize money talks. This is real. No bull. The core of the series is the furious action on the race track but there’s more to every episode.
In pre and post-race interviews we’ll get to know the riders; what drives them, what they do (or don’t) fear, their race techniques and their thoughts about the other competitors. In the paddock we’ll see how these experts select equipment and modify their bikes for such a demanding test of man and machine.
"A pro level superbike racer’s invitation to a high stakes, single-elimination tournament. An escape from traditional motorcycle racing resulting in unpredictable outcomes." - Hugh Wilson
Watch Hugh Wilson deliver the show's high concept.
How it works - Fast forward to the last 3 laps. On a short road racing configuration riders and their super bikes are assigned into positions. The viewer will see the spectacle of intense heat races whereby riders will face each other in a race from hell. Imagine the last 3 laps of an intense two superbike battle.
The hole-shot means a lot. The races are fought in each corner as the battles rage from start to finish.
Our series host Hugh Wilson will guide viewers through the action as it evolves.
This is about the races…the speed, the noise, the bikes and the human drama of all-out competition. The final race defines who suffers defeat and whose outcome brings home the bacon.
Episodic Outline Qualifying Laps > Semi-Finals (4 racers) > Final (2 racers) > Winner
Ep. 1.Qualifying laps. Meet the riders and their bikes. Individually, riders take to the track to get their best lap times. This establishes the seeding order for episodes of head-to-head races. Best time gets lane choice. Exhilarating race coverage.
Ep. 2. Semi-Finals. Practice and testing then it's all-out competition. First two racers, one head-to-head race. The winner stays alive, the loser goes home.
Ep. 3. Semi-Finals. Practice and testing then it's all out competition. Next two racers, one head-to-head race. The winner stays alive, the loser goes home.
Ep. 4. Final. No time to get cozy, more practice and testing. We'll recap how the riders made it this far. Learn more about the riders, their bikes and mechanical setups. There's one last chance, an all out dogfight. The Final race. The Motorcycle Wars champion is crowned.
For this inaugural race series, invitations and calls to pro-super bike riders from local and national Canadian racing series were sent out. An invitation to do what they love to do with little to no cost. Riders arrive on race day with what will be their competitive superbike team.
They’ve proven their skills on local and national motorcycle racing circuits for years. Traveling across the country impressing family and friends with their (very) unique attitude towards life.
Trevor’s aggressive racing style is great eye candy (not to mention his bevy of beauties in tow) but not so appreciated by his riding peers. Matt is calculated and articulate as an engineer should be. Scott’s approach puts him in front almost every weekend. Don’t mistake kindness for weakness. Luke is a cool character.
Look and Feel
What do you get when a creative post-editor is given well planned raw footage captured using the most ingenious camera crew? A story told so well...you can't explain why...you simply feel it.
Viewers will get inside the action through the use of bike-mounted POV cameras, and drone-cams. Every start, twist and turn of all races will be captured and then edited to deliver the best moments of action in HD and slo-mo.
Learn what superbike set-ups work and those that don’t. Who’s prepared smart and who falls short. Lindsay Thompson's pit tech-interviews will take us inside their technical successes or failures.
Race day will be busy, noisy, technical and highly dramatic, as milli-seconds decide riders' fates.
No doubt, it will be a huge accomplishment to be known as the Motorcycle WARS Champion. To up the stakes there will be cash prizes for the riders.
Hugh Wilson carries the story along. Hugh will keep the audience engaged with racer conversations on and off the starting grid. He'll have the inside scoop before anyone.
My approach to this body of work is to develop working relationships with great people; to have patience but be tenacious with results. Always work towards a realistic objective and use criticism as a developmental tool. ...and strive to be happy.
The budget for this project which will be shot in 2.5 days is segmented into 3 streams of income towards the project's account to cover production costs. The segments are: 1. 55% Advertisers 2. 20% Kickstarter 3. 25% Private funding.
The Kickstarter goal is set at $5000.00 to cover the "Rider Management " costs. Use of funds are broken down as follows: Six riders - hotel/ food/ fuel/ tires/ honorarium and for the four competing riders, First place prize money $2000. That's some nice cheese!
Private funding is secured. Advertising income, that is being secured over the next several weeks. Achieving our Kickstarter goal will reinforce the concept's strengths and instill confidence in our advertisers.
Please pledge and be a part of our dynamic idea - you will receive a token of our appreciation. See the Kickstarter rewards.
Tell your friends and family that you support local, national and international motorcycle racing!

Risks and challenges
The Motorcycle WARS - Speed Thrills is produced as a web series. The series is due for release in late fall 2015. How I plan to get this done. ...well first off, 'there is no I in team'
It's my job as the executive producer to get funding for this project. These are my funding streams: Kickstarter, advertisers and the balance from private funding. Advertisers being an integral stream, must find value in the target audience.
The entertainment value is first and foremost. The audience must love it. Meeting this this challenge is with producer Tim O’Brien and also with the Director of Photography, Patrick Thompson. With these two experts and their associates Motorcycle Wars’ success is realistic. We believe we've developed the perfect theater for stories and excitement and we have the team to capture all of it.
The advertising industry is changing. TV advertising is moving to the internet. Content is king. We have “killer content” and as the executive producer, I’m positioned to give the advertisers what they need to help market their products and services.
On-going Social Media and traditional promotions continue to generate an engaged audience and moreover an enthusiastic group of superbike racers from local and national series. Racers want to participate.
Camera and production crews are secured. See updates on website www.motorcyclewars.ca. click on - Team.
Track & rain days are secured. Postponement arrangements and contingency with track owners is made available during production days.
Insurance is secured. Acquired through race track with appropriate measures for eliminating any liability on sponsors/advertisers, riders and production crews.
If a rider experiences a significant problem in practice or during a race, time will be available for repairs. If a rider cannot compete, they forfeit their position and races will continue to completion with existing riders and an additional replacement wild card racer.
This is a sizable spectator event requiring security and safety. Motorcycle Wars – Speed Thrills has secured an experienced motorcycle racing event organizer.
I will be updating the Kickstarter and the Motorcycle WARS sites over the next several weeks to keep everyone current. Instagram, Face Book and Twitter will also have fresh news.
Please tell your friends to watch!...and please pledge! We need your support.
I promise to work hard for you.
