Solid Denim is extremely strong and has all the right properties for building high quality sunglasses that are strikingly different.
This is the beginning of a new chapter for denim.
Handmade in the UK
We will be buying in the rolls of denim and the pots of resin, handmaking each pair of Solid Denim sunglasses in Cornwall, England. This way, we can ensure the quality of each pair.
We knew that to successfully introduce our new methods into the market there could be no compromises. That’s why every part of the design has been carefully thought through.
The recognisable denim texture is preserved throughout the exterior surfaces whilst the edges and the inside surfaces are polished to a smooth finish.
The contoured frames are made from between 6 and 10 layers of denim.
- We use sturdy 5 barrel library hinges.
- The arms taper from 4 to 3 layers throughout their length which makes them flex in the right places for a comfortable fit whilst not being thick behind the ear.
The inside of the arms are laser etched meaning that the tastefully applied text will not deteriorate over time.
- We are offering the chance to customise this text, details are in the rewards section.
A high quality frame deserves the best lenses. We have tried out several lens manufacturers and have settled on using lenses that are produced by Carl Zeiss Vision.
At first we will be offering a choice of 2 polarized (CR39 plastic) lenses in Dark Grey and Brown.
- If we reach our stretch goals then new, exciting lens options will become available.
We’ve developed a range of 3 unisex styles, all available in 3 different colour schemes.
A classic style with a modern twist. Our flagship model is called the Cassini.
The squarer frame of the Celsius is for those that prefer a stronger, bolder look.
The timeless style of the Kepler combines sweeping curves with a striking keyhole bridge.
Each style is available in 3 colour schemes.
Perfected through 4 years of development
4 years ago we bought our first pot of resin, cut up a pair of old jeans, and started to experiment with Solid Denim. Countless prototypes later and we have developed a unique process and a product range that we’re proud of.
Preparation for batch production & production schedule
Here in Cornwall, England, we’ve been assembling a team and building a workshop capable of producing Mosevic sunglasses in batches. By manufacturing the glasses ourselves we can assure that each pair meets our high standards.
Please see the Risks and Challenges section for more details.
Shortly after the funding period we will start batch production and we aim to dispatch the first batch of glasses in early - mid July. Priority will be given to earlier orders as we dispatch the orders in batches until they are all fulfilled.
We will announce our production schedule to backers in detail after the funding period has ended and we know the amount of units we will be producing.
As soon as each batch is ready we will pass them onto our fulfillment company (Core Fulfillment) who will ship them all over the world.
More about Mosevic
Mosevic is the collaboration of 2 friends from Cornwall, England with a passion for invention and originality. Mosevic's first product range has been born from a determination to create something extraordinary. Inspired by the maverick, we’ve spent years in the workshop pioneering, exploring and inventing. Now we’re ready…
We have a background in product design and we launched our sister company - Nodus - on Kickstarter in 2013. After a successful campaign we have continued to run this business and have some new product developments scheduled for later this year. Having learnt a thing or 2 we are excited to launch Mosevic.
Thank you to everybody that helped with this project. From modelling to heavy lifting, we couldn't have done it without you!
Risks and challenges
When it comes to producing and fulfilling our orders the main risks and challenges involve delivering a high quality product in good time.
As manufacturers, the sunglasses will have to pass our own strict quality control policy before being dispatched. We aren't relaying on anyone else to sign the product off and all sunglasses will have to meet our high standards. This means that the quality of the product will not be an issue.
Our time spent on Kickstarter will be spent finalising tooling and testing batch production on a larger scale. The aim of this is to make sure that we can make the production process as efficient as possible before it comes to manufacturing the glasses for real. This way we can ship a higher quality product more quickly.
We are building relationships with local manufacturing companies who are able to take on parts of the manufacturing process in the event of extremely high order volumes. This will prevent delays whilst not compromising the quality of the product as we would always put the finishing touches to the sunglasses ourselves.
To minimise the risk of delays caused by late shipments from suppliers, we have finalised suppliers before our Kickstarter campaign launches, making sure we are aware of all lead times.
We have had a successful Kickstarter campaign in the past when we launched the brand Nodus and an innovative phone and tablet case called the Access Case. We successfully fulfilled all these orders in good time and have continued to run the business ever since, learning about fulfillment and building a good relationship with our fulfillment company - Core Fulfillment.
Overall we have done our best to minimise all risks and challenges and we are confident that we can fulfill all orders with a high quality product in good time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
