OK, we have final art and layout is nearly done! I say nearly because we're in the last stage where we fix page numbers and cross references and stuff like that.
I will lock down Backerkit in one week! Next Tuesday, June 27, 2017, Backerkit will close! If you added anything on (or if you're a pre-order customer looking at this update), your card will be charged.
I'll be reaching out to anyone who backed and didn't provide shipping/survey information yet.
If you filled out the survey on Kickstarter but not Backerkit, I will use the address you provided on Kickstarter to send you your rewards.
So, that's it, folks! One week to finalize your information on Backerkit!
We're doing a couple of art tweaks before going to press, plus some typos and tightening up the layout. The plan is to send PDFs to backers as soon as they're in a state I'm happy with, and then to DriveThruRPG in about 2 weeks (June 20). There are a couple of unknown factors that could affect that date-- the last minute art changes aren't in yet, and there was some miscommunication here on the backend which we're clearing up. But 2 weeks is a conservative estimate for going to press-- I don't think it'll really be that long.
The ISBN has been set up, and I've generated the barcode that goes on the back of the hardcover and softcover books. I know that seems like a minor thing, but setting those up gets Threadbare into "the database" and makes it more available to vendors.
Although I'm fulfilling through DriveThruRPG, I'm also planning to make the book available on Amazon, Lulu, Nook, and Google Books after that initial shipment. If you have a favorite ebook platform or store, let me know in comments and I'll add it to the list.

Got a great idea for Threadbare? Awesome!
One of the stretch goals we didn't quite reach for Threadbare was some kind of open license option. Although we didn't hit that funding goal, I did want to make it possible for players to create their own content and put it somewhere centralized where everyone can find it.
Enter the Jury-Riggers Team! With the Jury-Riggers, you can create content and post it on the Threadbare RPG website. If I later put together a compilation of content (a "Jury Rig Digest"), you'll get a $20 fee for each one of your articles included in the compilation. You continue to own your content, and after it's been posted for 7 days, you can repost it elsewhere, or even package it up for sale on your own.
Please Fill Out Your Backerkit Survey!
We're down to the wire-- I'll be locking down Backerkit in the next 2 weeks! So, please fill out your Survey today! It looks like there are about 34 of you who haven't responded-- please do so! If you're a "No reward" backer and don't plan to upgrade, you can respond with the "tip jar."
Games on Demand at Conventions
One of the cool recent trends in conventions, especially larger ones, is "Games on Demand," a more "pick up and play" format where you drop in to get into a game without going through a lengthy pre-registration process. There are Games on Demand events at Origins and GenCon, as well as many other game conventions, both large and small.
If you love running games (and especially if you want to run Threadbare!), check out the newsletter signup from Games on Demand, where you'll get all the "call for GM" notices and such.
We are looking at about 2 weeks for layout and final touches, then it's off to the presses!
The turnaround time from submitting until you get print copies varies-- it may be a few days or a week or so. Signed copies will take longer, as they have to come to me first before they get sent out to you.
Backers at the $9 and up level will get an email with a link to the not-layed-out version shortly.
If you spot typos or errors, please email them to me using the email in the footer of every page of the PDF. Please include "Threadbare 3.3" in the subject line and refer to the PDF's pages so I can find what you're talking about.
This is also your last chance to get your name in the printed book!
If you haven't replied to the Kickstarter survey, do so now!
Also: if you haven't logged into Backerkit yet, head on over and answer your survey!
Gen Con Event Registration opens May 28th
There are 2 sessions of Threadbare at Gen Con, sponsored by the IGDN-- Thursday at 10 AM and Saturday at 6 PM. Event registration opens on May 28th-- you'll need a badge in advance in order to register.
A quick reminder that today is the last day to fill out your Kickstarter Survey if you want to have your name in the print copy of the books!
Just come to Kickstarter, login, and look at the top of the page. You'll have a reminder to fill in your survey for Threadbare. Fill it in, and voila! I'll have your information and can send it to layout!
Thanks-- there are about a dozen or so of you who haven't filled that out yet, and I don't want you to miss out on seeing your name in glorious print!
All of the stretch goals are in, edited, and heading to layout! This is exciting news!
My stuff.... you know, this would be easier if you all hadn't done such a wonderful job of giving me a stretch goal to add upgrades and devices and glitches (oh, my!) That's what I've been stuck on, so if you want to throw ideas around in the comments, I will gladly take your suggestions and flesh some of them out for the game. I kind of tapped out creatively on those and would not mind some inspiration.
If you're wondering what I mean, here's a preview of the catapult, perhaps one of the earliest Device concepts I had for Threadbare (the layout isn't how it will look.... see below for that!)
A playtest at International Tabletop Day also revealed a weakness between the softie move Bossy and one of the rewritten basic moves, so I'm making a late change there, too.
We're now looking at an end-of-May date for sending files to the printer. I know that's a little later than anticipated. Since I was late getting Backerkit set up, I wanted to give you all plenty of time to fill out those surveys before locking it down on May 30th.
Which brings me to...
Backerkit is Live!
If you haven't already done so, please hop on over to Backerkit and fill in your survey! You should have an email invitation or, if you have backed more than one project that's using Backerkit, head over to the "master backer account" and scroll down till you find Threadbare.
If you haven't already, please fill in your Kickstarter surveys! It redundantly asks for your address, which you'll also need to put into Backerkit-- sorry about that, but there was no way to tell Kickstarter I don't need addresses. The only information I really need on the Kickstarter survey is the name you want listed in the credits. Last day for that is next Friday, May 12.
I wanted to share with you the utterly beautiful job Bill is doing with our layout!
Isn't it lovely?
Convention season has begun! I am running Threadbare at Gamex in Los Angeles, California on Saturday, May 27. I'll be running the Boogie Shoes adventure that was a stretch goal. If you are in LA that weekend, it's a great convention, and you should totally come play.
As I mentioned before, there will be a couple of sessions of Threadbare at GenCon 50 this year. I don't know when they are-- the GenCon event registration goes live on May 28th, and I think they're still working on the online catalog. But there will be games!
Are you running Threadbare at an upcoming convention? Let me know, or post it in the comments for your fellow backers!
