Teaser and Breakthrough!

Hello MORAV Team

After screen testing over a dozen wonderfully talented actresses, we finally found our female lead!!!  Actress and model Melanie Barrett will be playing our the role of Theresa Valentine, an attractive female embedded-reporter and firecracker.  Like other members of the cast, she brings a lot to the character and has great chemistry with the cast and crew.

We will resume shooting inside the MORAV after San Diego ComicCon. If you would like to meet Fon Davis (me) please drop by the Steve Morger Art Booth.

We are also very happy to report we've completed our first teaser for MORAV. We thought since shooting has been delayed, it would be a good idea to keep the excitement level up by releasing a teaser.  We hope you like it, then "Like" it on youtube and share it everywhere. Here's your chance as a MORAV team member to help with the effort. Post this video everywhere you can!

The Next Stage

Hello MORAV Team

Once again, I'm sure you are all curious to see what we have been up to, so here's an update!

We are very close with the 1/6 scale miniature MORAV. We are currently finalizing the mechanics and fine detailing and aging the model. It's so close I can smell the hydraulic fluid and diesel fuel.

We have screen tested over a dozen wonderfully talented actresses, but continue the search for the perfect woman to play our female lead. I think we're really close to making a decision, but we are still screen testing just a few more to be absolutely sure we've cast the perfect person. On the bright side I we've also met some great performers we can potentially use in other rolls or projects.

If any of you know local actresses who might be interested in auditioning for the role of attractive female firecracker embedded-reporter, please have them e-mail Hendric Vogel here: hendric@foncocreative.net

We have all twelve militia uniforms purchased, aged and ready for photography. We're testing our special effects rigs and squibs for the our outdoor shoot and we have scouted a location for the Ukrainian forest. Sadly because we are an independent production it has taken so long we've lost the cloudy weather we need.  So there is a good chance we won't be able to shoot until fall. Now with that said, if we have a crummy grey summer this year like we did last year we'll be able to shoot.

In the mean time we've been working on a fun teaser for you while your waiting for us to finish.  We'll post and update when it's online.

Shooting Begins!!!

 Hello MORAV Team

I'm sure you are all curious to see what we have been up to, so here's an update!

We have cast an incredible group of actors cast to play the five MORAV crew members, and continue the search for our female lead. These actors are not only great performers, they also have exceptional dramatic chemistry with each other.

If any of you know local actresses who might be interested in auditioning for the role of attractive female firecracker embedded-reporter, please have them e-mail Wendy Rolón here:  wendy@foncocreative.net

On a very exciting note, we have finally started live-action photography. The shooting has gone extremely well, in large part due to the extremely hard working and professional team on this project. It's been no small feat. It gave me goose bumps the first time the slate clapped - a high like no other.

We have also been moving forward on the 1/6 scale miniature MORAV. All the armored parts are complete. We are currently working on the mechanics. Once the mechanics are complete we will begin detailing and painting the model. What does that all mean? It means we are over half-way done with the model, but still have a decent amount of work to do.

The giant robot interior set is complete and looks absolutely amazing. Being inside it actually feels like standing inside a giant robot; no joke! The set was easily one of the most expensive and time consuming parts of the project, so having that done is spectacular!!! The build took almost a year-and-a-half to complete using many dedicated volunteers, mostly on evenings and weekends. The road of a truly independent production is a long one.

On other fronts, we have the wardrobe and props complete for the crew of the MORAV. Currently we're sourcing Eastern Ukrainian militia costumes and props.  Many of these will be imported from Russia. They're looking very authentic. We’re pretty stoked with the amount of realism we'll be able to achieve with the series.

As soon as we get the militia wardrobe sorted out, we'll start on special effects rigs and squibs for the exterior photography. Once that's done, we'll begin location scouting for the best wooded landscape in the area that feels like a Ukrainian forest.

And...

MORAV Fundraising Continues!

Unfortunately the Kickstarter funds did not go as far as we had hoped. It did not go to waste; in fact we have easily two thirds of the work done.  And we will still complete the project, just slower than we originally planned.

If you want to help us push MORAV forward faster you can donate more through a link on the morav.net website.

We've also launched an ebay auction to help with additional fundraising for MORAV.

Our first auction is an ILM Mole-Richardson 200w Inkie Focal Spot.

Now you can own an amazing piece of ILM memorabilia! Fonco has acquired stage equipment from Kerner Optical (ILM's practical division)

Tested and fully functional for use. Also great as a decoration or museum piece!

This is the first of several items we will be auctioning off. Add us to your favorite sellers to keep up to date.
