About this project
Micro-sized boards, modules, everything!
The tweeq platfom is designed to meet the demands of multiple functionality in a really small, low energy platform, while retaining user flexibility and ease of use.
You'll probably know the K.I.S.S acronym as the famous "Keep It Simple, Stupid", or the tons of other variations there are out there.
During the hardware and software design process, we put a twist onto the acronym and stuck by the "Keep It Simple & Small" rule.
The hardware platform and software that comes with it are to be kept really small, be it in physical dimensions or code size, and also have to be really simple to use across the board.
The result, is the tweeq platform.
Tiny, Powerful Cores
Introducing tweeq cores. They might look tiny in the palm of your hands, but these little fellas boast a 32-bit micro-controller with loads of memory (up to 256KB!), and they come in 6 different configurations designed to best meet your wildest gadget ideas.
Teeny Tiny Stamp Modules
tweeq's stamp modules are possibly the world's smallest series of cascade-able modules that add a singular function to any tweeq core without any addition to the size of the overall board configuration.
Our largest stamp module currently available (EEPROM) measures 9.5 x 11mm. That's smaller than an average m&m chocolate!
All stamp modules are cascade-able thanks to the I2C bus line. This allows you to connect multiple stamp functionalities using the same 2 pins, leaving the other pins free for multi-functional and intermediate boards, as well as the many external modules available for plug-and-play.
Micro-sized Multi Functional Boards
We know how difficult it is to get your cool DIY gadget ideas looking as slim and sexy as possible, without having to design and build the PCB on your own. For things to be really slim, we found that stacking anything more than 3 boards starts getting way too thick.
The tweeq cores are extended with the use of multi-functional boards, designed to provide at least 2 functionalities on a tiny footprint, in order to reduce the amount of board stacking needed.
Every FUNctional board is a marriage of functions that will either need each other, or an ingenious complement to the main function.
We currently have 4 multi-functional boards available, with even more on the way. These 4 boards are a great start for a whole ton of applications, ranging from wearables to tiny robots!
Intermediate Boards (IB)
Intermediate boards are great for adding functionalities that complement the multi-functional boards.
For this reason, having intermediate boards like the WIFI IB go in between a core board and, say, an audio board, opens up cool applications like a talking desktop companion that nags when you spend too much time on Facebook, or a talking virtual butler.
With just 3 boards stacked together, that's a whole lot of features in a really small area! (Slim too!)
Tiny Peripherals & Accessories
Tiny, meet tiny
Plug and play external modules (extMod), cable connectors, speakers, motor actuators, batteries and more, are hand picked and/or custom made to help ensure that the entire set-up is kept tiny.
We love breadboarding. And in the process of building the tweeq platform, we found the perfect companion when breadboarding circuits. We call them breadboard modules.
Ever since we designed these breadboard modules more than a year ago, they have been crucial in every breadboard set up, with or without the tweeq platform.
Plug the modules into the power rails, and use our jumper wires at the top to connect things up right where you can see them. We've used these modules so much, we came up with 3 breadboard perfect lengths of jumper wires that keep the set-up looking really neat.
For every breadboard module there is, a tiny external module(extMod) version for it is available for plug and play. This makes it easy for you to set up your tiny version of what you prototype on your breadboard later on!
tweeq is Open
We're looking forward to growing with you as part of a community that shares everything around the tweeq together. We're talking Schematics, PCB Designs, Hardware Libraries, Software Libraries, 3D Models, 3D Printing and Laser Cutting Designs (eg. Enclosures)... Everything.
All of tweeq's current and future hardware design files will be freely available for download from Github.
Download, view, modify, and design around it. When you're ready to build your own boards for use with the tweeq, we'll be there to support you with the parts that tweeq uses, or even build it for you (we're awesome like that).
Have Free Rein Developing With tweeq
At the heart of tweeq's PIC32 32-bit core is an optimized chipKIT bootloader, allowing you to choose among 3 popular programming languages and IDEs you're comfortable with, and use the same USB to Serial Downloader across all compilers to program the cores.
tweeq is Arduino Compatible
You'll be able to select the tweeq core boards from the drop-down menu in MPIDE, and use them with the open source libraries we'll be releasing that works great with our add-ons.
If you're already familiar with the Arduino style of programming, you'll feel right at home when programming your tweeq platform.
tweeq is Great for Advanced Users
tweeq's onboard serial bootloader also means that you can program using Microchip's MPLAB X IDE in Microchip's PIC C Language, and download programs using just a USB to Serial Converter, without the need for a programmer/ICD.
If you're no stranger to PIC or PIC32 chips and are looking for a tiny development platform, the tweeq is for you.
tweeq is BASIC
Using the tweeq platform with Allegro IDE is perfect for those who just have too many want-to-dos. (You know who you are)
Programs are written in BASIC minor (B minor), a subset of VB.NET that is very much like the English language, making it easy to pick up and getting things done.
Along with intelli-sense and syntax helpers, Allegro IDE also comes with utilities that make preparing graphics/User Interface a breeze.
All tweeq hardware available currently and in the future will have full software library support, and tutorials to go along with it.
Allegro IDE is free, and will be available for download for both Windows and MAC OS.
Open Source USB OTG Libraries
We are glad to announce that among the list of open source libraries released with Allegro IDE, is a fully open source USB HID Driver written in BASIC for tweeq USB OTG MITO cores, with CDC support on its way.
tweeq is Low Cost
tweeq is a low cost platform for rapid prototyping and proof of concept. Save time, save money.

Risks and challenges
Risks and challenges will definitely be evident when hardware manufacturing and logistics is concerned, as it involves quite a few stages.
Our core team has had more than 10 years of experience working together to release hardware development kits over the years, and we've established good long-term business relationships with a few key manufacturers and suppliers that we have been using regularly for more than 4 years.
Should any of them fail to deliver due to any reason, alternative suppliers that we have done business with have also been prepared, so as to reduce any possible delays in the process of component and parts procurement, fabrication, assembly and any other process that requires custom work to be done.
All hardware items will be inspected, tested, and packed in-house by our team in Singapore, before shipping worldwide via registered airmail to backers using Singapore Post. This is a trackable option which takes about 2 weeks to reach most destinations.
Of course, while we can try to pre-empt and prepare for as many obstacles and issues that may arise in the time before we ship (or even after we do), should there be any roadblocks due to unforeseen circumstances, please rest assured that we'll do our utmost best to overcome it and be as transparent as possible throughout the entire process.
