You’re a GM that loves to take control of their environment in order to provide an immersive experience for your players. Or a war gamer who likes to set the mood by enriching your environment with the sounds that one might hear on the battlefield. Or maybe you’re a game store owner hosting a local GM night and you need to provide a backdrop that will work for any game.
Setting the mood is one of the more difficult tasks of a GM, and yet one of the most important to keep players engaged in your environment and story. These high-quality MP3’s (320 Kbps), each a glorious 10 minutes in length, are meant to help GMs inspire their players. They have been play tested, gamer critiqued, and are ready to be brought into your living room or gaming store.
The basic goal of our Kickstarter is to provide you with 48 tracks. That's over 480 minutes of soundtracks for your games, with many more planned for our stretch goals!
Unlike some products that just provide sound effects on a loop in the background, Ambient Environments is a complete soundtrack for your gaming experience. Just like music in a film enhances the movie's tension and emotion, it can do the same for your game. Sure, the sound effects are there too, but they're only one part of the whole!

Meeting the Kickstarter goal will allow me finish the tracks and to build a website to host the finished collections for sale. These tracks are not cheap to create. They require hours of hard work as well as the cost of purchasing good sound equipment and sound libraries, all to ensure I’m providing the best ambiance for you. I’ve created a good number of them from my own purse to get the project started, and will devote myself full time to finishing the tracks and polishing them for perfection once we are fully funded.
Anyone who pledges at any amount will have their name recorded on the “Wall of Adventurers” at the site where the finished tracks will be hosted. We're very excited that other gamers will be helping us make this project happen. We really feel like this is a project by gamers, for gamers, and everyone's a part of the team.
How do the Add-ons Work?
First of all, you must pledge at least $5 in order to be eligible for add-ons. After that, add-ons can be used to customize your order to include specific tracks or to access the stretch goals. The stretch goals unlock new add-ons like additional tracks that can be added to your pledge. These are additional items that wouldn't have normally been offered but that have been made available especially for you to thank you for your support.

Get a printable ancient-style map, in high resolution. The map is of the fictional world of Terra Myrth, and contains specific locations for each of the fantasy soundtracks. You can use the map for your own campaign settings. Also receive the PDF, "The Guide to Ambient Environments," a companion to the collections that can be used by GMs to aid in the running of any campaign. In its pages you'll find more than just a basic description of the environments. These settings come complete with a full history of the location, ideas for adventures set within that location, and a list of NPCs, types of monsters, and rare treasures that would be found within.

Soundtrack complete! There are things that lurk in the shadows, waiting until nightfall to come out and prey on the unsuspecting. Whether driven by the power of the moon or thirsting for the taste of blood, now they are accompanied by eight new soundtracks in their mayhem. Gain music for such settings as the City of Vampires, the Haunted Castle, the Hunting Ground of the Werewolves, and Zombie Territory.

Every track in the Fantasy Collection will come with a second, “active” version of the track that will have different sound effects added to simulate encounters and battle in the environment!. For instance, this version of the Temple of Dread would have chanting, the summoning of demons, and the sound of magic blasts. This will be a completely new version that you can loop in a playlist with the original track or turn on when your players get into a fight in that environment. This will double your fantasy tracks!
We'll plan another soundtrack called "Cthulhu Rises" that will be created specifically for Cthulhu themed dark horror starting with the first 2 tracks here! The tracks will be announced as they come available and will take into consideration your requests in the comments.

GIL LUNA: "As a GM and gamer since the ‘80s, I have played and run many games from many genres, including Dungeons & Dragons, Palladium Games’ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Rifts, Gamma World, GURPS, Champions, DC Heroes, and Shadowrun—just to name a few. As a musician, singer, and collector of soundtracks, I started compiling tracks of the best music for use during my games. I would make CD’s of my favorite (and players’ favorite) tracks and soon I discovered that the best songs for use with RPGs were those that involved the players into the game without overpowering it. Players loved having ambient music in the background as it helped them get into the setting, their characters, and the story.
I also discovered that the music provided inspiration during or before the game. Sometimes I would play it in order to come up with ideas for a story or location. I highly recommend this approach to any GM. In film, they say that music provides 60% of the experience. I think the same can be said of the RPG experience. Games that use music and sound effects to set the mood can really enhance the experience for the player. The problem is in finding the right music, and that’s where I got the idea for this project."
JONATHAN STARK: "I am also a gamer and GM. I mostly run games online at Role Play Online. In the online format, music is even more incredible when you can find it, since you are working with words and descriptions and not with direct, live conversation between players. And nothing is as powerful as music for giving players a better sense of the scene you are trying to create. If images are worth a thousand words, then music describes things we don’t even have words for.
When Gil showed me his idea and let me listen to some of the tracks, the gamer inside of me instantly became excited and we talked about ways in which I could help. I’ll be helping to manage the Kickstarter page, and will be around to answer any of your questions about the project. I’ll be hanging around Gil while he continues his work and will give you all the inside scoop on how the tracks are coming along and what cool effects he’s adding in to each one. I’ll also be helping out with the PDF guide, drawing on my years of history as a gamer and GM to detail some great environments for our Kickstarter backers."
Moon Tribe Studios: ...was created in 2005 by director, writer, actor and filmmaker Gil Luna, just prior to the making of his first short film project, The Bobbsey Twins Go to Hell. The idea was to create a creative company which could bring people together through common interest and talent. In other words, to create a "tribe" that has banded together to bring creative visions to life. In 2008, Jonathan Stark joined the team as a writer, editor, and project manager. Together they produced a post-apocalyptic feature called Population: 2, which gained national release but, more importantly, forged a lasting friendship between the two of them.

Risks and challenges
With any project, the risk of completion is equivalent to the number of “moving parts” involved in bringing the product to life. With this project, the number of variables is very low. I’m creating all of the music myself, and Jonathan is helping to create the Companion Guides and manage the Kickstarter. We have worked together in the past, and have a lot of experience in delivering high-quality projects to a deadline, and in managing money. Our latest success was a feature length sci-fi drama film entitled Population: 2. The film has made it to Amazon and Blockbuster and has won many awards. It was a project of huge proportions. This project is small by comparison, therefore we are confident we can deliver an incredibly high quality product in a reasonable time frame.
We are also adamant about communication. Backers will be updated frequently during the Kickstarter campaign and updates will continue even after the Kickstarter has ended. We will be available to answer questions throughout the project, and we'll also be available to support people in downloading their tracks after release.
