I just thought I'd post an update since I haven't done one in a while.
We finished up the mixing with a marathon session that went until 3:30 AM!
Over the past week we did a lot of listening in order to sequence the songs, I did a few edits to the mixes, and we got the artwork underway. We are excited! Lisa has actually been listening to the CD just for fun. I'm starting to let go of it too and just listen without a thought to improvement. We can't wait to hear your reactions!
The mixes are now at the mastering studio, where they will be polished up with a nice commercial sheen. (This involves making the volume even from song to song and getting the frequencies all nicely balanced - that sort of thing.)
I'm posting this from a hotel in Louisville, KY, where I just performed the science songs in a planetarium! That was cool - we did "Grain of Sand" in the dark, and everyone flashed their cell phones to represent radiation, and I sang "Stargazer" under a beautiful nighttime sky full of stars.
We head for Washington, D.C. tomorrow, and for the next two days I'll be performing on the National Mall as part of the USA Science and Engineering Festival!!
When we return from this trip, the Mastering and artwork for the CD will need to be approved. Once that happens, the digital copies can be delivered, and then we can move on to manufacturing. Physical copies should be in the mail within the next three to four weeks.
