More Songs From the Science Frontier - Launched!

Howdy, Friend!

My new Kickstarter campaign for "More Songs From the Science Frontier" is now underway!

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/montyharper/more-songs-from-the-science-frontier

I'm recording a whole new batch of songs inspired by interviews with scientists! I plan to have the new CD done in time for this summer's reading programs - public libraries across the U.S. will be celebrating science!

Please support this new project and help me connect even more kids with more science!

The deadline is Dec 13, and we'll be throwing an online watch party like we did last time. This time I'll get hit with cream pies if we make the goal! I hope you'll join us!

Thanks!

More Songs From the Science Frontier!!

Howdy, Backer!

I'm writing with great news! Next week I will be launching a brand new Kickstarter campaign to fund a follow-up CD to Songs From the Science Frontier!

Our goal this time is $10,000 to make a 12 song CD. We launch Monday Nov 18, and the deadline is Friday Dec 13.

I'm writing to ask two favors of you right now, as I prepare the new campaign.

1. Please Give Feedback.
If you can find a few moments, please visit the preview page for the new campaign, and leave your feedback. This is your chance to help shape the rewards I'll offer. I want the rewards to be exciting and fun, but it's hard to judge this from my own perspective! I'll be submitting the campaign later this week. Click here to visit the preview

2. Please Send Video!
I'll also be filming my kickstarter pitch video for the campaign this week. It would be cool to include some happy backers from the last campaign! Can you find 10 minutes or so to grab your smartphone and capture yourself and/or your kids on camera saying nice things about what the first CD meant to you, or how you feel about a new one? I just need short (5 to 10 seconds) clips, but I can edit if you send longer. Email clips to monty@montyharper.com. Send as many as you want. If I get three or more different families (rule of three!), I'll incorporate them into my pitch video! Thanks so much!!

If you are in a position to spread the word, please let me know and I'll send you a more informative email.

I'll write again when the campaign starts so I can share the link. In the mean time you can find out more on my website.

Thanks!!

Born to Do Science Podcast!

Howdy, Backer!

I know it's been a while since I posted anything about Songs From the Science Frontier, but tonight I have some big news...

I'm launching a science podcast for kids and families!

Each episode of the "Born to Do Science" podcast will feature a conversation with a scientist and a kid co-host as well as an original song inspired by the scientists' work.

If you and your kids would like to know more about the science behind the songs on the SFSF CD, this is your big chance!!

For now I'm recording five pilot episodes, based on existing songs. The pilot series is my "proof of concept." If I can attract an audience (my goal is 1,000 listeners), it will help me land the funding to continue. My goal is to eventually produce new episodes once or twice a month, with a brand new song each time.

My first episode is Dr. Wouter Hoff with kid host Liza, talking about how microbes can sense light, and the featured song is of course "My Molecular Eye."

You can listen here: http://www.borntodoscience.com

I realize not every backer will be interested in this, so I won't post about it again.

But if you DO want to follow my progress with the podcast, please...
