Yes, we're crazy... for Lovecraft!
Your devoted maniacs at Monsterwax published an eye-grabbing art series of H.P. Lovecraft trading cards. It highlighted over 50 of his stories with 66 different cards, along with lots of cool inserts. Collectors loved them-- but there are still more Lovecraft tales to tell. So now we want to produce an affordable Series 2 expansion set (using the same great artist-- Ricardo Garijo, Jr.). This set will add cards for ALL of Lovecraft's remaining stories and make the series truly complete!
This is a very limited edition series. Only 500 numbered boxes of the 1st series were made. (We're also offering some of those in this campaign, so new collectors can still finish both series.) Like the 1st series, the 2nd series will also be numbered and limited and never reprinted. The Kickstarter promo is exclusive to this campaign. This is a very special series and we're going the extra mile to do it right. Check out our premiums and you'll see delightful & frightful rewards with real value for every dollar you contribute.
Lovecraft was an awesome author. He deserves an incredible card set to celebrate his work. The card backs contain dramatic portions from his stories. (What better way to introduce and extol his work than to feature it along with stunning artwork?) You can help immortalize Lovecraft's universe of horror on cardboard for current and future collectors. Pledge today!
Iä-R’lyeh! Cthulhu fhtagn! Iä! Iä!
STRETCH GOAL REACHED for All Rewards Below! Any pledges $6 & up now get THREE (3) Promos!
STRETCH GOALS REACHED for All Rewards Below! Any pledges $25 & Up now get a free Retro-wrapper! Also, more base cards added to the set and TWO (2) Doug Paszkiewicz Special Inserts! Plus, 6 of the 9 Metal Cards now contain all-new art (not featured elsewhere in the series)! If $12K is reached, all 9 will be upgraded.
STRETCH GOAL REACHED for All Rewards Below! As stated earlier, 6 of the 9 Metal Cards now contain all-new art (not seen elsewhere in the series)!
Reach $6,000: A new wrapper for series 2, big enough to hold the entire set. We will try to make it retro “wax” (if available), and complete it with a stick of ghoul gum! It will be automatically included for all pledges $25 & up.
Reach $7,000: A 2nd Promo for series 2, with all new art! This will be automatically included with all pledges $6 and up.
Reach $8,000: Expanded expansion cards (additional cards for select stories in series 2). We did this for series 1 as well, and it was really cool to have more than one card for the more elaborate tales, like “At the Mountains of Madness” and “The Call of Cthulhu”. Series 2 has several such deserving tales, so it’s money well spent! (They will be automatically added to all the series 2 sets.)
Reach $10,000: Add a 3rd new, original promo for all backers $6 and up. Replace 3 of the 9 metal card images with all new art (not found elsewhere in the series).
Reach $11,000: Replace 6 of the 9 metal card images with all new art (not found elsewhere in the series).
Reach $12,000: Replace all of the 9 metal card images with new art (not found elsewhere in the series).
Thanks everyone! All stretch goals reached and activated... with 3 hours to spare! Many sincerest gratitude !
Not only are the base sets top notch, but so are the inserts... all 18 of them (and every box is stuffed with them). Lenticulars, foils, prismatics... and an original, one-of-a-kind art card in every box, too. But these are not typical art cards. (You know the kind I mean-- some good, but most stinkers.) No, these are killer art cards by 13 phenomenal artists, including the master who drew the actual series (Ricardo Garijo, Jr.,). Several of the other dozen artists routinely sell their sketch cards for $150 and up. (The boxes pay for themselves.) Look at the names and samples and see why.
Our deepest thanks to each of these artists, who all believed in this endeavor and wanted to see it happen. Just like YOU, they made this project possible. Thank you one & all!

Risks and challenges
We've always fulfilled our previous Kickstarter projects (all 5) with everything we promised or more. The only uncertainty to this project is the exact turn-around time for the art. Two to four months is what the artist predicts, and he's been very dependable. Whenever we've run late before, however, we made up for it by adding extra rewards. So either way, you should be very happy with the results!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
