Monsoon's sonic tapestry 'Mandala' will take you on a transformative journey. Read on, listen, watch, and support the manifestation of this ground-breaking new album.
We have been crafting our musical Mandala since our first inspirational trip to India 8 years ago. Drawing on our years of living in Kolkata - from the fateful meeting of our musical Guru, to immersive all-night concerts; from losing ourselves in the exotic markets of Kolkata, to climbing into the ever ascending Himalayas. We have worked to weave together a tapestry of our collective journey into one unifying work - 'Mandala'.
Monsoon: The Band
The band Monsoon has been the vehicle for our expression and features some of Canada's most talented young musicians. The saxophone brothers of Jonathan Kay and Andrew Kay fill the air with bird calls and breathes of melodies; Justin Gray grooves deep in the cavernous bass realm; Ravi Naimpally brings a genius pitter patter of a rainstorm; Adam Teixeira drums the pulsating prowl of a hunting tiger; Todd Pentney flies across the keys of the piano, rhodes, and B3 organ; and Derek Gray evokes the percussive dancing of African tribes.
Mandala: The Album
The album 'Mandala' is an immersive experience, a vehicle to help transport you to a different state of mind; close your eyes and see where the music will take you. Each and every song is inspired by different aspects of Nature and evokes a unique feeling. We hope there is something in this album for everyone. We fundamentally believe that music is not only the universal language but a powerful tool to help us find our true inner self and unite us together as one.
You can now order MANDALA the album in both physical and digital formats online @ our brand new website: www.monsoonmandala.com

“A human being is a part of the whole called by us “the universe,” a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separate from the rest-a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison, restricting our personal desires and affections. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of understanding and compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.” – Albert Einstein
We were graciously awarded an Ontario Arts Council grant of $9000 to record this album. Along with $5000 - our personal investments to date - have allowed us to cover the costs for the following:
- Recording Studio and Engineer
With the success of this Kickstarter we've taken the album over the finish line!! Thank you to everyone that supported the campaign!!
The $6500+ from this kickstarter has funded the following:
- Album Artwork
- Press & Print 1000 albums
- The various rewards packages everyone selected!!
Here's what we've accomplished during this incredible campaign:
- We have already fulfilled the digital rewards of ringtones and wallpapers.
- When we passed the $5000 mark, we sent the album into print...now that we have the printed albums in hand we can send them to everyone who supported the kickstarter and sell them online and at our concerts!!
- We hosted and delivered three amazing top rewards packages which had us cooking and performing in intimate house concerts around Toronto!!
We surpassed our goal of $5000!! Hurray!! What a great community!!
The extra funds beyond our goal will go towards promoting and publicizing the album and CD release. This will help us share this music around the world. We will also be looking for distribution in North America, Europe, India, and the rest of the world.
In return for supporting Monsoon, and getting 'Mandala' across the goal line -you get the album and special exclusive rewards while being apart of it's creation. This Kickstarter campaign was truly an effort to work together as a community to bring this album to life and release it for the world to hear. That's why another important way you can support the project is to share it with you friends, families and anyone else you think will enjoy the music and inspiration behind Mandala.

Risks and challenges
Monsoon's 'Mandala' is our collective passion. Kickstarter or not, we are 100% committed to making this album!
The way Kickstarter works is All-or-Nothing; meaning that no money will exchange hands until we've reached or surpassed our goal of $5000. It also means that none of the rewards you have signed up to get will be delivered until then, either. But, the sooner we reach our goal, the sooner we can get things rolling and start sending out the rewards. The digital album will be sent as soon as we reach $5000. Let’s make it happen together!
Keeping the momentum throughout the campaign will be a lot of work!! We also hope this campaign will expand our fan base and connect us with new listeners and supporters all around the world. These goals will certainly take us many hours of hard work, but we know every minute is worth it to make our dream come true!!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
