SUMMER OF '74 is the unofficial, unauthorized, "true" story of how "Star Wars" began, in a desert truckstop in California in 1974. Follow the handsome smuggler, Hansel, who drives a sweet custom van he calls "The Falcon", his best friend and co-pilot Chuey, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala who medicates with cannabis, which is why no one understands him, Lucas, the young farm boy who doesn't like farming and the smart, confident, beautiful, Princess. Her father is a wife-swapping swinger, and self-proclaimed King of Barstow. Doctor Væder, M.D.is a proctologist and a gynocologist so he's an over achiever and wants to be VICE President of the United States.

One day in 2012, Liam and I were making food and talking about myths and cracking each other up (which we did every day). Then he asked me "What is Star Wars when you take away the space wizards and lazer swords?" The answer is obvious. There's a smuggler, who drives a van... and in that moment the SUMMER OF '74 was born. But in some ways its been with us all along. Liam is tragically no longer with us, and his absence is truly profound. And yet, I still feel his curiosity and humor and he is somehow with me, re-telling these old familiar stories and still cracking me up. Now after seven years, we are finally bringing our little universe into the world, as a graphic novel and I couldn't be more excited.
Hi, I'm S.C.V. Taylor (or "Producer Scotch"). I'm a writer and filmmaker and have produced three feature films including Kyle Rankin's THE WITCH FILES and NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEB (which was also funded here on Kickstarter).
My partner in this new adventure is the brilliant artist illustrator and muscian, Bob Tkacik.
Kickstarter is an amazing platform to connect creators (that's us!) with fans (like YOU!) who want to play a part in the making of their own entertainment. (You do, don't you?) This crowd-sourced graphic novel is an important first-step to launch the "Summer of '74" political satire-parody, and we want you guys to be a part of the journey. By supporting us now and pre-ordering Book One, there are some really amazing rewards and ways that you can not only get the book, but be a part of its evolution, and be one of the very first to help birth SUMMER OF '74: BOOK ONE.
Here are some of my favorites...
I don't want to get ahead of myself, but if we can meet the goal and BEYOND we are going to be making even more stories, and I'd really love to give you all of that too. Stay tuned for updates and STRETCH GOALS.
So please join us and our incredible team of Super Friends and LETS MAKE IT SO!!!

Risks and challenges
This project is 7 years in the making. We have written the entire series, based on a stageplay, and have nearly completed production on issue#1. Your support on Kickstarter will allow us to finish the remaining issues, color and print the books and share it with the world. I have produced 3 feature films so I know how to manage a team and deliver a product on budget.
We have built our production schedule with plenty of time to deliver in December 2019 for the two-issue book. Should we all be lucky enough to unlock the additional issue 3 and add it to Book One we should still be able to make our deadline. We will be providing regular updates after the campaign and throughout the production and printing process.
We have a great relationship with an amazing printer right here in the USA, and have colleagues who have used them many times with a mind blowing quick turnaround. We have no doubts about the quality of the printed final product.
